Reader Submission #86
For Our Doll Giveaway Contest!

Hi!  My favorite doll is my AG doll Kanani.  I have her in a special outfit that my grandma made for her.  It is a black leather jacket and a purple sequined dress.  Purple is my favorite color, and this was an outfit that I wanted for her, so that she could look like a rockstar!

I like the outfit that I picked because I think the sweater is really pretty, and the hat is really cool!

Reader Submission #85
For Our Doll Giveaway Contest!

Here is Molly in a sweetheart of a Valentine dress.  My DD11 and I love this outfit on Molly, especially now, that she is being retired.  She looks so sweet in pink.  It was made from a bunny bear pattern a few years ago and Molly wears it every February.

This is the type of outfit we'd like to see for dolls.  It just seems like it would be perfect for a vacation by the water (on a cruise ship or sailboat maybe?)  We just love the stripes and the denim type jacket that has that young and cute look!

For Our Doll Giveaway Contest!

First pictures are of my JLY #22, Amanda.

She is wearing her absolute favorite dress by "SCOsammy" on etsy. This is one of my favorite shops, where I have plenty of her handmade outfits! Amanda and I love this dress because of how girly and unique it is! Amanda loves just about anything pink like I do, and loves the fit and flare style on dresses!

Second set of pictures are of JLY #17, Christine.

Christine is wearing a vintage styled dress with a modern twist. Christine, like me and Amanda, is very into fashion. Christine loves to rock the vintage looks and this dress particularly, because it matches her hair! This one of a kind dress was custom made from "Fashioned4you" on etsy. I also have many items from her shop!

I would love to see these last two dresses in doll size as they are very fashionable and effortlessly cute!

Reader Submission #83
For Our Doll Giveaway Contest!

Hi! My name is Alisha and my favorite doll outfit is the outfit my doll Jess is modeling. I made it last year for the 2012 Doll Wardrobe Fashion Design Challenge. It is my version of Susan's coronation gown from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe movie. I loved the outfit she wore in the movie and I wanted to make it in American Girl doll scale.

An outfit I would love to have in American Girl doll size is this outfit worn by Lucy in the Narnia: Prince Caspian movie. Can you tell I love Narnia? :)

Another outfit I would like to see in AG size is this pink and white gingham dress.

Reader Submission #82
For Our Doll Giveaway Contest!

This is my doll Melody. I received her as a Christmas gift from my soon to be husband in 2001. She is an American Girl of Today with blonde hair and brown eyes.

Melody is wearing her favorite outfit...AG Samantha's Middy Dress. It looks darling on her. I've always liked the nautical look and high button boots. The first time I saw this in the catalog I fell in love. The details are really nice.

Each year I participate in the Goschenoppen Folk Festival in Frederick, PA. The home skill I demonstrate is from the 18th century. I would love a similar outfit for Melody. [This isn't the best picture as it was taken near the end of the day.] The period attire includes a skirt, short gown, apron, pocket, kerchief, and bonnet.

Recently I started a blog and have been having a lot of fun with it. Getting to know other doll bloggists and the great sites out there to help outfit collections. Such wonderfully talented people!

My blog is called Tea Time with Melody Q.

For Our Doll Giveaway Contest!

In these pictures my doll McKenna is wearing my favorite doll outfit. It is my favorite because it is just so cute. The shirt is the MAG meet shirt. I made the mini skirt and the shoes. I think the shoes are the cutest part of the outfit!

Human outfit I want to have in doll size.

Halloween: What is Your Costume This Year?

Maple here again.
Yeah, you guys have to put up with me some more. :-P

As you could probably tell, I am enamored of the in-post polls nowadays.
So I might as well add one in here:

Yes, that was mostly pointless -- but it was still fun right?

I have decided to be a frustrated Wii owner for Halloween.
(I think that falls under the category: "Something Sparkly.")

Because you can't play Disney Infinity with two people on a Wii.

And you can't play any Wii U games on a Wii.
So I need to get a fracking Wii U.
And an Xbox.
And probably a life...

So are you thinking about making your own costume for your doll(s) this year?

And here are some great Etsy shops you can check out for
costumes, Halloweenie items, and patterns!

This is Hodel Eisenberg's (a Jess doll) favorite outfit! When it's this hot outside, wearing a flowing feedsack dress keeps her cool and comfortable. She loves to dress it up with black flats, or her black shoes with tiny heals. Her favorite color is purple, and it makes her feel confident and empowered. She always wears her star of David necklace her father gave her.

Hodel is better known to some as Traveling Hodel. For the past five years, she's been all around the world, and even the country traveling. She is ten years old, and loves acting and archeology. She recently started a new Facebook page, which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/HodelEnyeEisenberg

Socks: Ruthie's Meet Outfit; American Girl
Shoes: Ruthie's Meet Outfit; American Girl
Necklace: Hanukkah Set; American Girl
Hair Ribbons: Pink Ribbons; Build-a-Bear
Doll: Jess; American Girl

I'd love to have a doll sized version for this cute outfit from Mini Boden. I'm a huge fan of rompers, especially on younger girls. They're versitile and can be dressed up or down with accessories!

Halloween the American Girl Way:
Maple's Thoughts Part Five

Hola!

Today we continue the "Maple's Thoughts" series about some of the Halloween costume offerings from American Girl.

The Ballet Outfit

Marketing this as a Halloween costume seems a bit too painful.

American Girl might as well have marketed their basketball uniform, track uniform, ice skating ensemble, gymnastics, softball, cheerleading outfits, and any other
sporty/uniformy thing they could label as possible 'costume.'

Eight costumes right there!
Including one to be Lance Armstrong!

So the GOTY 2014 is supposed to be a ballerina.
Or a ballerina wannabe.
SPOILER ALERT!
I guess I am supposed to say that before I spoil something?
Or after?
Who knows...
If you didn't know this already, I can't help you.

Theoretically AG might be trying to move ye olde ballet outfit to make way
for the new GOTY shinies -- which obviously won't be marketed as ballerina costumes for Halloween...

This baby says pink.

In fact it screams "PINK!!! PINK OR DIE!!!
You can take my life but you can never take my PINK!!!!!"

Which is fine if you like pink.
(We don't.)

And overall, this set looks great.
Good fabrics.
Good fit. Lots of pieces.

I just think the Ballet Outfit should be a Ballet Outfit,
and not a Halloween costume.

I for one would not look forward to skipping down the cold New England
streets in a leotard and tights on Halloween.

Even a dancer's shrug couldn't make this outfit warm enough for
midnight in Salem Halloween activities.

But if you insist on sticking to a ballet outfit for a Halloween costume --
at least make it a show ballerina outfit,
not just a practicing in the studio outfit.

Like this baby.
Shimmer. Sequins. Feathered Tiara. Bling.
Armpit Ruffles.

Or the Swan Lake Swanny thing.

No one could say you just pulled this out of your after-school activity bag.

Show some creativity American Girl.

Man, it seems like I say that in every one of these posts....

______________

So that wraps up my "Maple's Thoughts" on
AG's current Halloween 'costumes.'

If you want, I will continue my monologue on
Halloween-related items.

Vote below people.
