We posted this announcement in December, but we'll post it all again now because it is about a month until our entry due date of March 6th, 2013.
So here is our 2013 Grand Photo Contest Announcement:
So here is our 2013 Grand Photo Contest Announcement:
This contest will be very different (sorta different, kinda different) than what we have done before.
There will be four winners.
Grand Prize Winner will receive an AG doll of their choice or an equivalent AG gift card.
Three runners-up will get $35 AG gift cards each.
This idea is based loosely on the Flickr Monthly Scavenger Hunt.
We call it "The Curator's Game" because all of our terms are art-related as a nod to the 2013 AG GOTY Saige, who is interested in art.
We have a pool of clues/themes to choose from.
Each entrant should choose 3 clues/themes and then take 3 pics.
Each entrant should choose 3 clues/themes and then take 3 pics.
Each of those pics should represent a clue/theme.
You do have to submit three photos in order to be in the running for prizes.
You need to use three different clues/themes.
And you need to tell us what clues/themes you used.
A textual explanation is sorta required for each photo.
What the clue/theme means to an artist or art historian may be different than what it means to you.
That's fine and good and the point. This is a thinking exercise.
We want creativity and excellence.
Your photos should include at least one doll and no humans.

DEADLINE for all THREE PHOTOS
is MARCH 6th, 2013.
is MARCH 6th, 2013.
That is about a month away!
Feel free to send your photos to us ahead of time.
We'll be posting them as we get them on a new DW Grand Photo Contest Website.
And just because someone else uses a clue/theme doesn't mean you can't too.
All of the clues/themes are for everyone to choose from.
This isn't a case of "calling dibs."
_______________
For this contest anybody can enter, you don't have to be a
blog follower or even be in the USA --
But if you are younger than 18 please get your
parent/guardian's permission to participate, and if you are younger than 13,
please get your parent/guardian's help with participation.
Email us the photos at nora.demington@gmail.com.
And include
some info about the three pictures.
We'll have a month of voting after we have posted all of the photos and then Penny will pick 4 winners from the top 50%.
Then those 4 winners will compete in a Final Round for the Grand Prize.

Things to Keep in
Mind:
The picture can be any size, but 400 pixels
wide or wider is recommended or else your pic will be very small on the blog
and difficult to see. Almost every pic we post here is 500 pixels wide, so
that is what you should be aiming for as well.
The best way send photos to us is as attachments.
This gives us a better quality photo to post on the blog.
We prefer photographs to videos. But if you absolutely need to do a video, we will take it.
Using Photoshop and other photo editing
programs is fine and recommended.
The photos must be taken by you. Don't steal other people's photos.
You can include more than one doll in your
photos. Your dolls do not have to be AG dolls.
No human faces in the photos please --
remember: privacy is important! Hands are okay -- but no actually identifiable
people.
If you are younger than 13 have your
parent/guardian email the photos to us (remember: internet safety is
important!).
We will be posting the photos at a new DW website - so make sure your photo is something that you don't mind if the
whole world sees it. (Again, this is why you and/or your family shouldn't be in
the photo.)
Readers will be asked to vote for their
favorite photos. They can vote for more than one photo. You can vote for yourself.
Voting will be done by
email -- to vote you just email me at nora.demington@gmail.com and say
something like "I vote for photos #8 and #15."
The Doll Wardrobe does not share or sell your
email to anyone. Only Penny sees your emails.
At the end of the contest we will email the
winners for her/his shipping address. (This is why it is important you have a
parent/guardian's permission to enter if you are under 18).

Again, choose three different ones for your three pictures.
If you don't know what the word means, welcome to Wikipedia. ;-)
Learning is a beautiful thing!!!
If you want to suggest a clue/theme for you to use, feel free to ask us.
And again, from above: "What the clue/theme means to an artist or art historian may be different than what it means to you. That's fine and good and the point. This is a thinking exercise."

Any questions? You probably have some.
Feel free to ask them here as comments or via email to nora.demington@gmail.com
Again, ALL THREE PHOTOS are due March 6th, 2013.
Thanks for reading through all of this!

I am working on my pics now! Could I maybe do memories? And when we send them in, should we say what the inspiration was?
~claire
Claire -- Sure you can do memories as one of your themes.
And yes, when you send in the pics you should say which theme you used, what is happening in the pic, (and your inspiration if you want).
Are we supposed to do our picture from an artists view? Or our view?
Not sure what you mean SuperAGSisters.
You can take the pictures in the style you want to. Your point of view, an artist's point of view. Just as long there is at least one doll in each pic and it fits one of the themes. :-)
I need to ask my parents if I can enter... but I am if they let me :)
I don't understand how to do this....:(
Take 3 pictures that match 3 of the themes/clues listed in this post and email them to us at nora.demington@gmail.com.
That's it. :-)
