Sup peoples!

While others have already gotten their pre-order Caroline shipments -- we are out of luck. 

Maple says it is because our house is locked behind a magical force field.

I think it is because our AG shipments are always pretty slow.

It's so deeee-pressing.

So we'll stick with posting our Lira pics we shot this week.

Here she is sporting the navy spencer jacket with the ivory gown we showed you in our first "Atwitter for Regency" post this week.

Both items were handcrafted by The Dollies' Dressmaker.

We love, love, love this jacket. It is beautiful.
The fabric is great and so is the design.
It also snaps closed, so we don't have to worry about wrestling to get
those pearl buttons into buttonholes.
Also, we think it would work as a posh modern cropped jacket as well...
...but we haven't tried that yet....

Atwitter for Regency : Dollies' Dressmaker Gown

It's an exciting time for AG enthusiasts. 

We always love, love, love the build-up to new items being released. 

It's like group therapy, everyone can relate to each other and
talk about the same thing. Heehee. :-D

Us collectors are probably almost as excited to see and play with Caroline's stuff as the AG Team is excited to release it all. The AG designers, writers, and researchers have been working on this stuff for over 3 years. I bet they are happy September 4th is just around the corner, when she will be available online and in all of the stores.

(And of course, that means winter MyAG gear will release as well, including the holiday outfits and sets, and maybe some new items for the other historicals, like Rebecca...maybe)

In our own excitement about Caroline we thought: "Hey, we should really photograph some more of our own Regency collection."

We asked y'alls on Facebook about what we should do. Some of you wanted to see them now, and one person suggested Lanie as a substitute. Others wanted to see items on Caroline.

So we'll do a mixture, some outfits on Lanie/Lira and some on Caroline when she arrives.

Some of the outfits are clearly Regency attire -- others are based on human costuming, for instance BBC productions of "Emma." We aren't too finicky about being 100% historically accurate here, we buy and order what we like/want.

We pre-ordered Caroline, so hopefully she'll be here next week, fyi -- to start her modeling duties. ;-)

We begin with The Dollies' Dressmaker one of a kind set, this ivory gown and later, a post with the navy spencer jacket that accompanied it (which you can see on our Facebook page if you want a spoiler: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Doll-Wardrobe-Blog/181472528562468).

The dress is gorgeous and we could spend all day waxing on about it -- but a picture is worth 1,000 words.....

Lira makes a pretty good temporary Caroline, and she was happy to model for us.

Just don't tell Maple that Lira will be featured on the blog for like a week and a half.

Also don't tell Maple we used her nautical brass items collection for our tabletop display....

Karen, Emily and the Too Tall Frog

Sorry for the lack of posts -- too much to do and not enough time to do it in!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, we took these pictures and now we thought we should post them as a farewell to the warm weather of the late summer and early autumn here in Badger's Wood. Soon enough we'll be freezing cold -- winters aren't exactly "warm" up here where we live. ;-)

We actually have a couple more sets of "Karen and Emily in the Outdoors" pics that we haven't posted yet... maybe we'll get around to posting more of them soon enough. Hopefully.

In these pics, Karen and Emily are hanging out in the great outdoors with one of our garden sculptures- the Too Tall Frog. Karen is wearing a wrap-top dress from Heritage Doll Fashions and is carrying a beaded purse we purchased through Doll Closet. Emily is modeling a top from Doll Closet, a belt from All Dolled Up Doll Clothes, and a skirt from The Dollies' Dressmaker.

Dollies' Dressmaker Colonial Dress

Hola! Here we are today with a pic and video of a set we got from The Dollies' Dressmaker: http://www.dolliesdressmaker.com/.

This online shop has a ton of offerings, both historical and modern. It's a favorite among many doll collectors. Cindy is constantly coming up with new things, and they sell out fairly quickly. Especially the popular items such as outfits for Samantha, Nellie, Felicity, and Elizabeth. Occasionally she offers special auctions on Ebay. She has a Facebook page that can keep you updated about new goodies. And she currently is offering three different coupons for all shopping before June 13th. It is a great site and we highly recommend you check it out.

Our set came with the jacket top, the skirt, and the scarf (which we tried out on Elizabeth's head and around her shoulders for different looks). We added a beaded necklace and a ribbon in her hair for good measure. The chairs on the wall are vinyl decals we picked up at Target for photo shoots.

Meet Kirsten...and Kirsten???

Are you seeing double??? Sort of!

When Kirsten's archival was announced last year we bought two Kirstens for ourselves (and one for a possible Doll Wardrobe promotional giveaway). Why did we do such a silly thing like buying two of the same doll?!? Well, you know those fancy loopy-braid-things that Kirsten wears on her head? Penny was pretty sure once she took them out she'd never be able to get them back in quite right. She is not very good with braids and especially not fancy loop-braid-things. So we bought one Kirsten to remain Kirsten with her braids permanently in place, and the other Kirsten was bought to get a new name and be allowed to let her braids out. We are a little bizarre...

So there will be pioneer-girl Kirsten Larson... and Ginny Sartorius, Lira's sister. Ginny is short for Virginia, which we were thinking about using for Connie. So we are resurrecting it, but only as Ginny because we prefer Ginny. ;P

So what's going on in our photos today???... Kirsten Larson can be seen on the left side wearing her Meet Outfit duds, and Ginny Sartorius is on the right side also wearing a pioneer dress as a tribute to her previous existence as Kirsten 2.0.

This dress and plaid scarf is fantastic and was purchased from The Dollies' Dressmaker. It is in the same style as Kirsten's Swedish Dirndl, which we commissioned two handmade versions of from Terristouch, and you can see our post about them here.

But they have also been selling it left and right, so there are currently only three types of dresses in the shop for Kirsten. But as I said before, Etsy and Ebay sellers are still creating new Kirsten dresses every week! So there is always something creative right around the corner for Kirsten.

Linda's Dollies Dressmaker Frock

As promised, we have more posts on Linda/Chrissa!

Here is a striped 1940s dress from The Dollies' Dressmaker that is based off of a dress shown in a 1947 Sears catalog.

What's so awesome about this dress? Well the fabric for one thing. It is vibrant and fun and looks great on Linda. Second, the crissy-crossy-stripy effect created by the changes in direction of the fabric. Third, the little floral applique on the bodice that corresponds with the pocket on the skirt that has another applique! So cute! And fourth, those who have been reading the blog know that Susan Shapiro already owns the brown version of this dress. This way the girls can be matchy-matchy when they go to school! And of course, we just had to throw in one of our puppies to increase the cuteness factor a bit more. ;)

So you probably noticed that our Liberty Jane Monday didn't happen yet this week... but we will try and get one in before the week is gone. December will probably be a month of us posting a whole bunch of random stuff sporadically. Eek! But we only have fourteen more days until we leave again on a jet plane. 14 Days! Yikes... and we just got back...

And we'll be going to American Girl Place in New York City in mid-January! We'll be sure to take some photos of the new GOTY 2010 display and goodies. So that's another thing to add to our "Post About This Eventually" List... ;)

Outfits of the Week- Individual Website Highlights

Today's "Outfits of the Week" post will feature three outfits from website shops selling handmade AG-sized doll clothing. The pictures you see below are the property of the sellers, and if anyone wants me to remove them- please feel free to say "Don't show my pic you blogging fiend!"

But in the interest of highlighting these sellers' wares,
I hope nobody minds. :)

First we have a brown paisley dress inspired by
Kid's GAP fashions and created by Damsels-in-Dress.
There are currently two left in the shop.

The second outfit for today is a 1940s era dress for
Molly or Emily created by The Dollies' Dressmaker.
It is their newest design and would be perfect
for those upcoming holiday parties at school or with friends
in this wonderful festive red color.


Our last outfit for today is the special Liberty Jane Clothing
"Hello New York" celebrity style outfit
based on real humans duds worn by Hannah Montana.
So much is included with this outfit and it looks so chic.

Since we have recently been returning to the Liberty Jane theme again and again, we should probably show you some complete outfits that we have purchased from LJC this year. ;)

So for Monday Sundari will be modeling the "Breakout Performance" celebrity style outfit for y'all. Then the following Monday (September 28th) we are going to play a little mix and match game. We will show you our next LJC outfit in two different ways. First we will show you the outfit as is, then we will take something from the "Breakout Performance" outfit and add it to the second outfit. And so on, and so forth. So in the end, you'll be able to see many LJC outfits mixed and matched and essentially Mondays will be our Liberty Jane day until we run out of outfits.....

Does this sound like fun?

I hope so...... it took me awhile to come up with the idea and I'm kind of proud of it. :)

Dollies Dressmaker 1940s Coral Dress

Today's post is about a recently purchased coral 1940s dress, pictured above, purchased from The Dollies' Dressmaker website. Its design is based on Emily's "Meet" dress and the fabric is also very similar. But the colors, pattern, and design were different enough to encourage us to get one.

Immediately below is a picture from the American Girl website of Emily in her "Meet" dress. All other pictures in this post are of our Susan Shapiro doll modeling her new dress. She is posing with two of our puppies: Panofsky and Wooferton. The dress is quite fun, cheerful, and perfect for the summer. And as always it is some of the highest quality handmade doll clothing available. The Dollies' Dressmaker never disappoints!

Outfit(s) of the Week! Two for Samantha or Nellie Up for Auction!

Well we were browsing Ebay and we found a wonderful pink reproduction/interpretation of Samantha's Lawn Party outfit up for auction- courtesy of Ebay seller sewaddicted2. Auction ends in about eight hours.

These are both most likely going to go for high prices, but it is still fun to look at them- such high quality work and wonderful details!

Dollies Dressmaker Josefina Skirt and Camisa

If you haven't guessed it by now, Penny's favorite color is blue. If a doll outfit is being offered in blue it is really only a matter of time before she breaks down and buys it. :)

So for today you won't be all too surprised to find our Josefina modeling another blue skirt paired with a lovely camisa with lace and flower details. The skirt is made of a fascinating floral, banded, fancy fabric that is quite eye-catching.

This outfit is courtesy of The Dollies' Dressmaker website where you will find outfits created for almost every type of American Girl doll that you could possibly own- from Felicity to a Modern Girl of Today. Yes, Kaya is left out- but she probably wouldn't have had a very robust wardrobe as a Nez Perce girl.

What's set up for next week? Three modern outfits! Not sure which ones we will show you and on which days- but we have a bunch of them lined up to showcase. Dollies Dressmaker Colonial Gown

To continue with our colonial theme for the week, we wanted to show you a new gown from The Dollies' Dressmaker website. It is being modeled by Mary Royall (fka Ruthie).

The combination of black and green, with the multicolored floral print is really quite stunning. The delicate pink and green ribbon used as trim on the gown contrasts so well with the black ribbon used as "lacing" on the stomacher. This gown comes as two pieces with velcro closings, and hence may be considered a more kid-friendly creation.

This dress is still available in the shop, as of when I wrote this post, so check it out today! On Friday, I will show you Mary and Rebecca side-by-side in their colonial gowns as a finishing touch for our colonial-themed week. See you soon!
