Merry Christmas, Holidays Around the World: Disney's EPCOT

Merry Christmas!!!

Today we wanted to start a new tradition/series: Disney Day.

Our Instagram Walt Disney World tag is:

Our plan is to post about Disney one day per week here on zee blog.

As it is Christmas, we wanted to bring in something festive.

When we visited Walt Disney World at the beginning of December (2015) -
we took advantage of the "Holidays Around the World"
celebration at EPCOT.

Each country around the World Showcase has a "themed event"
that takes place several times a day.

Some of the events have 4 showings, some have 8 showings.
So make sure you grab the times guide for this.

Some of the performers are done by late afternoon --
so don't expect them all to appear all day long into the night.

The pamphlet says: "Share in the sights and sounds of the nations of
World Showcase as each country's holiday heritage
comes to life amid joyful music and time-honored tradition."

If you want to see what goes on at each country - this is really an all-day event.

It takes time to get around the Showcase, and you want to
make sure you stop for drinks and food so you don't pass out.

After each performance you can line up to take pics with the performers - so make sure you add time in for that if you want those pics. :-)

Mariachis and Dancers

Mexico has Mariachis and Dancers for Feliz Navidad, including a piƱata.
They have a child from the audience try to whack the crud out of it.

When we walked by it but it was swarmed with people,
so we couldn't really get close enough for pics.

Sigrid and Julenissen

Norway features Sigrid and Julenissen -
Sigrid tells the story of Julenissen,
a mischievous Christmas gnome who visits Norwegian farms.

Chinese Lion Dancers

China has the Chinese Lion Dancers for New Year's -
they are usually two acrobats and a narrator.

Helga

Germany features Helga, talking about
German Christmas traditions and the Nutcracker.

Spoiler alert:
A full-size (costumed human) Nutcracker comes out at the end.

La Befana

Italy has La Befana, an elderly witch who arrives on
the Eve of Epiphany to give gifts to children.

(We missed out on Italy's Befana this year.)

The American Adventure

At the American Adventure Pavilion you can meet Santa and Mrs. Clause.

The story of Hanukkah is told, as well as the story of Kwanzaa.

(We missed Hanukkah this year.)

And the Voices of Liberty sing
a cappella holiday tunes inside the main building.

Daruma

In Japan the Daruma doll seller talks about Japanese New Year's traditions.

(She is hilarious, as you can see ^^^.)

Morocco Holiday Entertainment

In Morocco there is a performance about different Moroccan holidays.

(We missed Morocco this year.)

Pere Noel

In France Pere Noel (Father Christmas) talks about how
French children write letters to Santa.

Father Christmas

In the United Kingdom Father Christmas
has a bell performance and talks about how Christmas is celebrated in his country.
A child from the audience helps with the bell performance.

(I didn't really get any good pics of this, as it was already night time.)

Canadian Holiday Voyageurs

And in Canada, there is a rousing performance of holiday tunes from around Canada.
This is basically a rock concert, and was very good.

(But there was too many people to get a good pic of this.)

_____________

The great thing about Holidays Around the World is that it is
included in the price of park admission.

It isn't a ticketed event that you have to pay more to participate in -
like the Christmas party at the Magic Kingdom.

And it happens all day long -- instead of just from 7pm until midnight --
which most of us can't quite make it to midnight anymore. ;-)

Also, there are specific locations around the
World Showcase with Holiday Treats and Shopping --
so there's even more to do besides the performances!

Let us know if you have any questions about this event. :-)

And again, Merry Christmas, friends, and
thanks for visiting us today!!!

Agent S: We Interrupt This Broadcast!

"We interrupt this broadcast to report that Evil Dr. Pepper has escaped
from the New York State Penitentiary!"

Yes, this evil doggie had escaped prison and managed to find his way down to Orlando while we were on vacation! He is Agent S's old nemesis and he decided to come to Florida to harass our poor Yorkie. :-(

While in Orlando he stole a bag of souvenirs that Penny had bought for all of the Badger's Woods dolls here at The Doll Wardrobe. Oh no!!!

Will Agent S be able to retrieve the souvenirs????

While in Hollywood Studios Agent S received intel from Team Possible that Evil Dr. Pepper may be dining at the Prime Time Cafe. Our Super Spy took this opportunity to get some dinner.

Agent S was supposed to signal the waiter (also a secret agent) by creating a bow-tie out of a dollar bill, and the waiter would know we were the good guys and let us know if Evil Dr. Pepper was nearby.

He told us that the evil doggie had just left to go watch Fantasmic. So we headed over to the show ourselves.

While at the show, Mickey signaled to us with secret sign language that Evil Dr. Pepper had left early and was already on a bus back to his hotel. Apparently he had eaten too much popcorn and felt sick to his stomach. Agent S's attempts to capture him were foiled!

On our way out of the park, we saw this giant Christmas tree that was really pretty. Our first attempt to photograph the tree looked like this.... yeah...

But here is a better one. ;-)

Do you think Agent S will be able to find Evil Dr. Pepper soon???

We want our souvenirs back...

Stay tuned for more adventures!

Have you entered the Special Awesome Fantastic 36-Hr Holiday Gift Giveaway yet???

Agent S: Mission Elite Spy Training

Well after Mission Beignet Agent S said that he really needed to crack down on the villains of the world but that he needed more advanced training to do so.

His orders were to report to Hollywood Studios and get tips on being a spy from the Extreme Stunt Show Team.

While there we saw a lot of cool stunts...

We met Lightning McQueen...

And helped him defeat an evil enemy.

The Team waves us goodbye after giving us super-secret, super-spy advice....

Then Agent S insisted that we get some tips on being Intergalactic Super Rebel Spies from R2-D2 and C-3PO over at Star Tours.

We even got to see a Star Tours Flight Center.

And we got to go on our very own shuttle for an exciting 3-D adventure!

After all of that hard work/fun Agent S volunteered to eat some Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream to accompany our Pippaloo "mouse-shaped" ice cream in a photo.

Life is so hard. ;-)

Stay tuned for more adventures with Agent S!

Agent S: Mission Beignet

After finishing his mission in Japan, Agent S decided he was too tired to continue his international adventures. So we headed back to our hotel for some rest.

Then he insisted that he had been notified to do a mission over in the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort.

According to him he had been instructed to contact the bakers there and ask for three beignets. Apparently this was supposed to be "coded language secret information sharing."

We went over to the resort and ordered the beignets. We weren't sure this was part of the "Team Possible" agenda as nothing special happened.... Agent S was probably just wanting a snack. But we played along.

Stopping over in the French Quarter Resort on a cloudy day...

Agent S about to try their beignets, while posing with Pippaloo's doll/dog-sized beignets...

While close to the New Orleans Cafe Du Monde beignets,
these are hollow while theirs are not - just FYI.

But in case you can't make it to New Orleans, but can make it to Port Orleans --
it is fun to try these tasty treats!

Stay tuned for more adventures with Agent S!

Agent S: Mission EPCOT, Part One

Agent S wanted to check-in at the Kim Possible Recruitment Center in EPCOT as soon as possible -- he was eager to become their newest "Global Justice Agent."

Pic of the EPCOT "Ball"...

Sign at the Recruitment Center...

His instructions from the Check-in Station were to report to a Field Station in Italy...

After checking-in at the super-secret Field Station,
Agent S was given his very own "Kimmunicator" to stay connected with Team Possible...

His first international super-spy mission as a "Global Justice Agent" was in Germany. He was assigned to help put a stop to Professor Dementor's Mind-Control Pretzel Plan: "Mission, Germany: The Pretzel Predicament."

The mission had him exploring various parts of Germany and gathering intel...

In the end Professor Dementor was captured by a little mechanical girl in the town square clock...

Next, Agent S was sent to Japan for the "Baby Bebe" Mission (robotic babies taking over the world)!

The mission included turning this lantern on and off....oooo!

And it also included lighting up Japanese characters on this rock.....double ooo!

Stay tuned for more adventures with Agent S!
