MyAG Snowflake Gown and Rebecca's Sideboard

Hello again! We are slow getting this up on zee blog. Today we came home to copious amounts of recently delivered boxes and we spent too much time playing with the new toys.

This is just some of what we pulled out of them....

In amongst those boxes was Sun Ji (pronounced Sun Gee), our new MyAG #4 and Rebecca's sideboard. So we thought we'd feature both of those things in our holiday outfit post today. Hence, we put the very, very cute Sun Ji into the blue Snowflake Gown as you can see below...

Of course you can also see me in my angel costume, as well as Rebecca's sideboard and a few other interesting items. First off, the sideboard is really more the scale of a side console table or something. Not really full adult scale here for a sideboard. But we have wanted it since last year. And it was on sale. And we got 10% off our whole AG order with "the code."

Sitting on the console table... I mean sideboard... is a custom-order hat from Etsy seller Uber Kio which we will be showing you on a doll soon. And you also see Rebecca's nesting doll set which we also showed you last year.

The sideboard has a mirror on the back area which comes with a filmy plastic cover over it--- the mirror is not really that cloudy. We just left the film on so the camera flash didn't bounce back so much. The drawers and doors all work and there is plenty of space in there for dishes or Rebecca's samovar set, etc. etc. Definitely a cool piece of furniture that makes you wish you had an 18" scaled doll house to put it in.

Onto the Snowflake Gown, a 2010 MyAG Holiday outfit. It is blue with silver accents, and can be used for a variety of holidays, events, dances, parties, etc. Nothing about this actually says "winter-only." It comes with silver elbow-length gloves, blue sparkly shoes (which we really love), and a crown on a comb which we could not put in the doll's hair properly to save our lives. It just stuck up into the air. It works better on humans as a mini-tiara... If anyone has a picture of their doll wearing the tiara properly... please let us know where to see your pic.

Despite the crown issues, we highly recommend the 2010 Snowflake Gown-- lovely fabrics, nice design, versatile dress, and it sure does look great on our Sun Ji. We tried it on Lira, Felicity, and Rebecca-- but it looks best with dark-haired dolls....in our humble opinion.

And just so you know... we didn't purposely name our new #4 after a Chinese footballer.... we just liked the sound of Sun Ji. And even though the internet says Ji is only a boy's Chinese name (like Tommy or Jim).... our human friend Ji is a girl and is called Ji..... because that is, well, her name. So we are going to bend the rules and call our doll a boy's name-- Sun Ji. Sun being her last name and Ji being her first name because Chinese names are in the reverse order (in comparison to the USA at least...)

Stay tuned for more holiday outfit fun coming up tomorrow and the days after that... I think they are called Friday and Saturday. We have a full week of holiday outfits for you... even though it is still three months until Christmas... We are an odd bunch here in Badger's Wood. ;)

Happy Eighth Night of Hanukkah!

Here is our Rebecca again to say farewell to Hanukkah 2009 and show off some more of her holiday presents. Tonight she received this neat-o outfit from Etsy seller Sewsecret4dolls! The ensemble included the long-sleeve dark brown shirt, embroidered jeans (so fancy!), and tan crocheted hat and scarf. An awesome set!

Doesn't Rebecca look good in everything? Speaking of Rebecca, we wanted to let our readers know that our three Rebecca Giveaway winners have received their dolls and they are all very excited and happy to get their prizes. It feels good to know that they are all greatly appreciated!

So the last time we did a "What doll should we give away next?" poll was awhile ago and our readers may have changed their minds a bit from the last poll. Especially since Kirsten is being archived and the GOTY 2009 dolls are going away/gone.

We won't do another doll giveaway for a bit of time, but we wanted to know if there are any ideas or requests from our readers? The new JLY doll #41 is on the list of possibilities (dark black/brown wavy hair and green eyes), and Sonali was also pretty high up on the list. And there may be some of you wishing you had a Kirsten. Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions?

Happy Hanukkah!

It's the second night of Hanukkah, so we thought that we'd show you Rebecca today with her silver menorah, her nesting dolls, and a new green dress from Heritage Clothesline (Heritage4's Etsy shop).

So for the first night of Hanukkah, Rebecca received this two-tone minty green dress with a fantastic patterned fabric and a wonderful design. In the pictures below she is wearing it over a white tee shirt with gathered sleeves that we got from Liberty Jane Clothing. Tonight, Rebecca's Hanukkah gift was the nesting dolls that Penny purchased for her a long long time ago. Aren't they adorable? Penny tried to find a set that resembled the set in the NYC AG Place Rebecca curio cabinet.

Rebecca Giveaway Contest Update with Pictures of the Handmade Dress

Well we got a lot of replies about our question to those who have entered the Rebecca Giveaway. And enough of you said that wonky-eyed or not- it didn't matter because it would still be awesome to win a doll. So we will give away more than one Rebecca doll! Woohoo!

For the grand prize winner, she/he will receive the less-wonky-eyed Rebecca doll, her Meet outfit, her Meet book, and her accessories. In addition she/he will receive the handmade outfit you see in the photos below, which includes the dress and the hair bow. We show it below on our own Rebecca Isaacke with her white tights and Rebecca's Meet boots. (The white tights aren't included with the giveaway.)

This outfit is a 1914 Yom Kippur dress for Rebecca created by Etsy seller MyOwnLittleWorldToo. But of course you can use it anytime of the year, even for Hanukkah. :)

So here she is, armed with a hairbow and an elegant white dress. The brooch on the neckline is attached to the dress (so that is included).

New Rebecca Doll for Giveaway Arrives!

We ordered another Rebecca doll to see if we could get one with more "normal" and "symmetrical" eyes. She arrived today! Thank you UPS man!

I think this one is better than the last one we received. So this doll you see in the photos below will be the one the winner receives.

Her eyes are generally, sort of, kind of the same size.
And we think she looks pretty cute. :D

Outfits of the Week- Etsy Highlights

Hello again everyone! Sorry this post appeared a bit slowly, but today was a bit busy and we wanted to leave the Halloween Costume Giveaway at the top of the page for as long as possible. :)

As far as our own Rebecca, 45 of you wanted her to live in the modern time period with me, Nora- so your wish is granted! She will now be Rebecca Isaacke- a school chum of us Demington sisters!

She has been renamed Rebecca Isaacke (instead of Rebecca Rubin) as a tribute to the first documented Jewish woman in the Virginia colony, and hence one of the first Jewish women to live in what would eventually be the United States of America.

In the future our Rebecca will be modeling some modern clothing here at The Doll Wardrobe- probably some nice Back-to-School autumn outfits - in recognition of her new identity. :)

Terristouch 1900s Purple Dress for Samantha

Welcome to September!

I hope the month has been treating everyone well so far... even if it is back to school time. ;) I can't say that I was too excited to return to school. Even though I got to advance a grade, it now means more homework for me. :P

Luckily for today's model she is retired and no longer has to go to school. Heehee. Yes, I am of course referring to Samantha Parkington who you see in this post. She gets to lounge about in the "American Girl Archives" all day and all night relaxing with our puppies and drinking pink lemonade.

Samantha was particularly excited this summer when she heard she would be getting a few new dresses from Etsy seller Terristouch. Today's frock is a beautiful dark purple drop-waist dress with a wide white collar with inset lace. My favorite part of the dress is the pleats on the skirt portion; they are perfect!

Our girl looks fantastic in this dark color, but there is also a light blue version still available from Terri. If you'd like to see it please click here. No matter the color, it is a wonderful dress with beautiful details. Also I think it could work for either Samantha or Rebecca's time period.

On Friday, I will return with the official introduction post to Signorina Connie Bonacorsi, our new 1950s girl!

p.s. As a side note, we wanted everyone to know that some new American Girl Merchandise will be released in the stores and online tomorrow Thursday, September 3rd. Keep an eye out for the new goodies! (I think Derek will be hiding Penny's wallet tomorrow at some point....heehee.)

Suzebella Cherries Jubilee Dress

What does Rebecca look like in 1950s clothing? Well look below to find out!

This dress, purchased from Ebay seller suzebella, was meant for the late 1940s and early 1950s. But we think it could work for the late 1950s as well, particularly with the novelty cherry fabric and the full skirt. In addition to this lovely dress, we received the red necklace and bracelet- both very well-made accessories which look wonderful with the dress. Rebecca certainly looks like she is ready to go dancing with our 1950s doll!

Marvelous Me, Nora, will post on Friday about some green zebra leggings purchased from Etsy seller MyOwnLittleWorldToo, which we paired with the white top from Etsy seller Doll Closet and some other items.

Terristouch Blue Pioneer Dress

In our continued efforts to show off Rebecca wearing clothing from a variety of time periods, here she is wearing a Kirsten-style blue summer dress which was purchased from Etsy seller Terristouch.

This dress was purchased with our Cassie Conrad Jameson in mind, for the late 1860s time period, and is crafted in a similar style to Kirsten's striped summer dress that was usually pictured with her fishing set and straw hat. Just the perfect dress to run barefoot down to the stream in. Are you thinking that Rebecca would make a good friend for our Cassie? sdls275 Patriotic Promenade Colonial Gown

Are you thinking that maybe our Rebecca doll would like to live in the 1750s with our friend Mary Royall (fka Ruthie)? Well here she is modeling a colonial gown from Ebay seller sdls275!

Sdls275 is also known as Heirloom Doll Designs. They do weekly auctions, but sometimes take a break. Everyone needs a rest every now and then! So if you don't see anything in the Ebay shop right now, be sure to check back next Thursday. There may be new items!

This is our second colonial purchase from sdls275, and we finally figured out how to put the panniers (side hoops) under the skirt so that the bodice jacket fits over the hips. We just had to tie the panniers tighter onto the dolly bodies!

The gown came with 5 separate pieces and a hat, which you will see in our Friday post this week. There is the bodice jacket of white and blue fabric, the dark blue skirt, 2 different stomachers and a fichu. What is a fichu? It is "a large, square kerchief worn by women in the 18th century to fill in the low neckline of a bodice." The lace cap Rebecca is wearing is from our Keepers Dolly Duds colonial gown.

Sorry the pictures below are so plentiful, but there are so many wonderful details to this gown that we wanted to highlight: the gorgeous fabrics, the sumptuous ruffles, and the 2 different stomachers! And of course, we didn't want to end the post without showing a close-up of Rebeccas's lovely face. Aren't her eyes so pretty? Hazel eyes are the best kind...heehee.

AbygailElizabeth Hiking Outfit; Rebecca and Ludwig

So far, one the most popular choices in our "What Time Period Should Our Rebecca Live In" poll is the modern era. So we thought we would show off Rebecca in our new outfit from Etsy seller AbygailElizabeth. Click here to visit the AbygailElizabeth Etsy shop.

In our quest to find more modern clothing, we spotted this hiking ensemble consisting of a white tee shirt and denim shorts. Both very well made items and quite affordable. The cute pockets on the hiking shorts are my favorite part of the outfit. Rebecca is pictured below in the outfit, with her hair up in attractive pigtails. She is hanging out with our new friend Ludwig Waldemar Horst the Sock Monkey. Together they were plotting to go into the backyard and run through sprinklers after the photo shoot was finished.

Still undecided as to what time period our Rebecca should live in? Well, on Monday we will show you Rebecca in a very fancy colonial gown from Ebay seller sdls275. Maybe it will help you make a decision for our poll! Thanks for voting everyone!
