Felicity and Grey Jeans

Random title eh? Yeah, we are in a weird mood today. Like most of our readers, we are sad to see Felicity and Elizabeth go. For the past several years we were kind of wishing their collection had the substance it truly deserved. We hadn't bought a lot of the available things because they just weren't what they "should be." But alas, we are now sucked into the archival frenzy.

We don't like having collecting regrets--- that "could have, should have, would have" feeling when you miss an Ebay auction or a doll's item is retired while you weren't paying attention.

So we saw this:

... and said "Oh the Heck with it, let's just ride this train to Crazy Town." So we ordered these:

Yes, we are total AG suckers. What can we say? We are easily brainwashed by the "Buy Now or Lose Your Chance!" propaganda. :(

All of this new colonial stuff is going to go to our Mary Royall, who is more than happy to receive new prezzies. We kind of feel too depressed to keep Felicity and Elizabeth as colonial characters, reminding us of yet another archival. So we think we'll do something creative with them to make this experience more fun and exciting. We'll let you know what we come up with. ;)

Now onto the grey jeans part of the title: below we have pictures of two pairs of grey jeans we are shipping to Cinnamon of Liberty Jane Clothing to make into dolly skinny jeans. One pair of the dolly pants will be given away with the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway. So we wanted to know which jeans you guys would prefer to see included with the giveaway. The pictures aren't the best, as we don't have a humanoid model for them, so they are resting on zee chair. But try to imagine these as dolly jeans, heehee.

Pair One?

Or Pair Two?

Let us know in the comments below which pair you'd prefer to have as the dolly skinny jeans offered in the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway. :)

Sooo sad about Felicity. There's something so final about it being official! :(
As far as the jeans, I like pair 2 the best.

Oh no... D': It's official. It so sad to see American Girl archiving the historical dolls that taught girls so much. Unfortunately I'm getting sucked into the business scheme and have two dresses that I'd like to get before they're gone.

As for jeans, I like pair #2. :)

It's really sad :'(
Do you think her retired stuff from the 90s will now skyrocket in price even more? I've wanted for a long time to have a lot of the colonial accessories from then. I think it's not going to happen though :(

Her tea set is already sold out online, and I kind of want to go to the AG store in Natick (MA) to buy one, if they have it, but I'm no longer in a position to buy doll stuff for myself :"(

Yeah, the 90s stuff is ridiculously expensive on Ebay. And it will probably get worse for about a year.

We always liked the Windsor writing chair and writing set, but could never justify the cost on Ebay. And in the 90s we were collecting for Molly and Josefina, not Felicity. :(

Sorry to hear about the tea set-- but I would keep checking the AG website. Sometimes those "Sold Out" notices change when they check the inventory.

Oh and p.s. If you did have the money, I think the Personal Shoppers at the AG stores will send you an order directly from the store.

So even if something is sold out online, you might still be able to get it mailed to you from a store. They all have separate inventories.

If I may be so bold, I prefer the first pair of jeans. I like darker wash denim. :)

We bought into the frenzy, but only in a small way. We got Elizabeth's riding outfit and also picked up Kit's Typewriter as that's slated for retirement as well.

That would be cute to make doll skinny jeans out of this color of jeans!

I prefer the second pair of jeans as well.

I like the first pair of jeans.

I hate it that Felicity and Elizabeth are getting retired. I cried for a long time about it.

Yeah, archivals are just depressing. :(

I like the dark jeans.
I am sad to see any of the historical characters archived. They are a fun way to learn about history. As a retired school ( you are never too old for dolls ) teacher that is important to me. Felicity was my first historical doll and I love to sew her clothes.

I'd suggest the first pair because I'd worry the texture/pattern of the second pair would be too big on a doll.

And I am also a bigger fan of 90's Felicity stuff than what's currently available.

So sad about Lissie. I have her and Elizabeth, but none of their items, as the ones I want are retired (Humph). Felicity was actually a doll I never wanted, but I was given her and Elizabeth anyway.

I have Felicity and my daughter has Elizabeth. I got Elizabeth for her for Christmas and painted freckles on her (and a tiny mole) to match my daughter's, so she's kind of a "twin" American Girl doll for my daughter. We were saddened by the retirement, and we ordered the riding outfits and Elizabeth's accessories.

The jeans are AMAZING. I think pair #2 rocks just a little harder then pair #1. Love the store tags too.
