Weekend Fun Outfit Review

Hola! Today we look at the new MyAG Weekend Fun Outfit, modeled by CeCe.

This is definitely our favorite new release and a winning outfit from AG -- not sure when was the last time they actually released something this well put-together and trendy.

The vest is awesome. It is a thin, heathered white fabric - cut in a flattering design. It does not close. The tiny buttons are just for show.

The blue tag on the side for the AG label is a bit weird -- but I guess they are taking their cues from brands such as Hollister, AE, Ab+Fitch -- which we want them to do -- so no big complaints there that the tag stands out.

The long-sleeve floral shirt is a mock-henley style (buttons don't open). We put it on CeCe first and by itself it definitely looks like a pajamas top. We like the fabric, we like the style of the shirt -- we just probably wouldn't have put those two things together.

If it were us, we would have used the fabric but done a scoop neckline. This type of floral fabric seems better suited to a henley tank top, or short-sleeve henley top. In truth, this year florals have really shown up in diaphanous, silky tanks, skirts, and dresses more than knits.

With the denim capris and the vest, the shirt looks great. But it is a slightly weird choice. We tried to find similar shirts from Justice, Old Navy, etc. But we couldn't find one. If anyone knows who sells these shirts/where AG got this idea from -- please let us know. We will do an "Ode to the Henley" for a July Trends to Sew - inspired by this outfit -- but we have yet to find a floral henley like this one.

The capris are great. They are a thin denim that is form-fitting but not so thin that they are jeggings.  They pull on easily, with an elastic waist. AG has a pic of them with the cuffs rolled down but we haven't tried that yet. Probably works just fine, but need to whip the iron out to make it look good for the camera. This is certainly an outfit we want to try mixing and matching with some of our other modern clothing items.

The shoes and headband are magenta. I assume this is supposed to match the lavender-ish color in the shirt (?) -- but other than that there really isn't magenta in this outfit. But they look good -- it works. The shoes are the flat strappy sandals AG has come to love lately, and we love them, too. The headband is the hair elastic kind of band and stays in place well in CeCe's curly hair.

Stay tuned for more posts about our newest AG items!
