The dress is made from a lovely light blue floral-patterned fabric.

The design is an adaptation of a Thimbles and Acorns pattern.

The pantalettes are a white floral-patterned fabric.

They have an elasticized waist.

Both pieces feature elaborate embroidery detailing.

The bodice is fully lined.

The back of the dress closes with snaps but has accent buttons.

p.s. The tights and shoes are not included in the giveaway.

Saige's PJs with One Hoodie and Two Sweaters

The ironic thing about Saige's PJs is that in the desert, where she lives, it gets pretty darn cold at night. Like cold cold. Especially after like 90 degree days, a 30 degree night can feel frigid.

The sun goes down and the temp drops with it.

And here they give the girl shorts.

Obviously the person who designed that concept has not lived in New Mexico...

But oh well.

Won't dwell on that too much.

If Saige is getting out of bed for a midnight pee or glass of warm milk, she might grab a hoodie or sweater first.

So we decided to put the PJs with one hoodie and two sweaters.

Not at the same time, but that might work better for the chilly desert nights....

Saige's PJs

Sup peoples!

Today's post is on Saige's PJs.

We finally get some time to post about that. Phew. ;-)

We also have many other posts brewing.

But one thing at a time, right? Haha.

Adanya is modeling the PJs for us.

The set comes with a 3/4 length sleeve grey knit shirt with a cactus flower decal, patterned orange knit shorts, fuzzy coral-hot-pink-ish flip-flop style slippers, and two orange hair elastics.

The slippers do have a clear elastic band on the back section that holds them onto the foots.

Like with Kanani's slippers.

They are quite fluffy and luxurious.

The bow seems like an un-necessary add-on.

Especially since it is the same color as the furry fabric and sorta blends in.

I would have left it off.

The shorts are bright, bold and awesome.

We like the pattern on them and they are not too short and not too long.

Much like Saige's Sweater Outfit, we are surprised at how trendy these PJ shorts actually are...

The shirt has a ribbed style fabric, which hopefully you can see in the pics okay.

It also tiny tulle ruffles at the sleeve cuffs and neckline.

A nice touch.

Below is our attempt to get the cactus flower decal in a pic.

The flash keeps bouncing off of it and blocking it from view.

It is a mix of coral, purple, and teal green colors.

It is pretty.

But it is another thing we don't think they really had to add-on.

AG likes to make you feel like you are getting your money's worth by adding bows, ribbons, decals, embroidery. But what they should really be thinking about is what is trendy.

A little breast pocket on the shirt would have worked better for us, personally.

In the end, we would have skipped the decal and the pocket and 

just done a v-neckline or a henley style neckline.

To us, those styles would be more convincing as PJs.

Orange hair elastics are useful, if your outfit has orange in it...

In a world full of girls who often wear brown and black hair elastics, it is kinda amusing how AG never sells those with anything... sigh.

Overall rating:

Worth $24 only if you need PJs or want to complete the Saige collection.

The shorts are awesome.

For us, the shorts alone are worth $24.

But we are slightly insane.

The top leaves something to be desired, but was almost there.

It's kinda more disappointing because these PJs were nearly perfect.

But if we weren't obsessive collectors, we'd just ask Royal Doll Boutique to make something vaguely like these for our Saige doll.

We already have slippers and hair elastics though.

Plus, there are all sortsa cute doll slippers available in the world.

Including these from Releaserain...

Which would go great with grey and orange PJs, in our opinion.

Still, in the history of the Girl of the Year Pajama Sets... these are a win.

We shelve Mia's and Chrissa's in the 

"wouldn't buy 'em if someone threatened us with a gun" category.

Jess's in the "might buy them if on sale" category.

Lanie's, McKenna's and Saige's in the "win" category.

And Kanani's in the "complete and total win, we would wear them in human-size" category.

Eye Color Comparisons with Saige

Sup peeps.

This is the eye color comparison post -- perhaps not a thrilling piece, but we thought Saige had Marie-Grace's eye color and she really doesn't. 

So we took some pics for comparison porpoises.

You could argue that Saige's eye color is closest to Kit's and #27's.

But our Kit's eyes are very dark, much darker than Saige's.

She is currently buried deep in the doll closet.

So here is a pic for comparison that we have taken before.

MyAG Purple Party Outfit Holiday 2012: Part One

Hola! Sorry about the delay with this.

Here we go -- Part One with Adanya modeling the MyAG Holiday 2012 Purple Party Outfit. The set comes with a dress, headband, tights, and shoes. (And the ubiquitous MyAG charm.) We didn't put the headband on Adanya in these shots, but we'll show it off in Part Two. The total price is $36.

The AG online description states: 

• A purple taffeta dress with black piping details, tucks above the waist, and a full skirt trimmed with a velveteen bow. Plus, the tulle lining is emerald green for a fanciful look!
• A satin headband adorned with a triple-layered bow to sweep back her hair
• Opaque black tights and purple patent shoes for the finishing touch!

There is no emerald green tulle lining. The bodice is lined with an emerald green satin-type material. But there is no tulle built into this dress. Maybe we got the one lemon without it? But somehow I doubt that. I think it might have been in the initial design concept and was dropped along the way.

The dress is pretty nice, but the bottom is kinda wrinkly. We were honestly not sure what to do about that. Spraying it with water or steaming it might stain the "taffeta" with watermarks. Ironing it might melt the fabric. And we didn't want to make it too flat and then it wouldn't puff out properly. So you get what we managed to do with it, haha.

If anyone has managed to make it look good, let us know how you got out the wrinkles. ;-)

We like the black piping details and the black velveteen bow at the waistline. You also see accents of black at the edge of the sleeves and the neckline. With the black tights and the little black bows on the shoes it all really comes together as far as the design and color scheme.

We also really like the pintucks on the bodice. It is nice when AG adds these types of details. It makes their dresses stand out from the regular 18" doll clothing mass-manufactured holiday dresses offered on the market.

WARNING: Due to the dark nature of the dress and the blackness of the tights I would not leave any of these items on any doll for an extended period of time. They might stain the vinyl. I can't confirm nor deny this -- but it is better to be safe than sorry in these matters. No one wants to do Oxy treatments on their doll over Christmas break. :-/

Final thoughts: If I were picking between the red holiday dress and this purple one -- I'd go with the purple one. I think the fabric is a little better, the style can work for a lot of ages, and overall we like the design more.

The price is steep. Not really a surprise from AG. They do this with all the holiday outfits. One could argue that it is because the fabrics are more expensive. I think it is because they know they can get away with it, especially for those families that buy the girl-size dresses and want matching doll dresses like in all the cute AG marketing. Haha.
