Winter 2011 Doll Giveaway Youtube Announcement Video

We are trying something new... a Youtube Announcement video.... we'll see if it helps to draw more people to zee blog. Haha. Feel free to subscribe to our channel as we would like to add more videos slowly but surely this year as Youtube is such a hot-spot. And you can also "Like" and "Share" the video if you want. You can even "Dislike" it if you want to... but I'm not sure why you would do that if you are here reading this blog... Heehee. ;-)

And if you are thinking, "Why would I tell other people about the giveaway? I want to win!"---- you have a good point. Haha. But the more people who know about the blog, then the more people who know about all the wonderful shops we talk about here. And the more people who know about the shops, the better their businesses are, and then they can make more dolly stuff to sell. :-D

We tried to make it clear and simple, but it isn't exactly Oscar-worthy... it is only our 3rd vid. :-/

Liberty Jane Outfit for the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway!

Hola! Well now that I can take a break from doing historical research (check out yesterday's post for the final Colonial Week update).... I might be able to get some more posts out before Halloween. (Maybe... we sure hope so... we took a lot of pics for this week...)

Today we have Sun Ji and Ivy arriving early at our annual Halloween party. They have brought some tasty treats and decorated baggies to share with everyone. Sun Ji is our new MyAG #4, as you probably remember.... and Ivy is one of the dolls being offered in the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway here at The Doll Wardrobe.

This is the Ivy doll that is offered in the giveaway, not our Ramona. We wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to see the giveaway Ivy again. She is wearing the jeans and shirt, custom-made by Liberty Jane Clothing, for the giveaway. Thanks for donating these items Cinnamon!!!

Ivy, MyAG #41, or Kirsten (depending on who the winner chooses) will come with this purple top and these grey jeans. Cinnamon chose a beautiful bold fabric for the shirt (it is awesome!!!) and added on the LJC logo.

Meanwhile Sun Ji is wearing our duplicate pair of grey jeans, and the top, jacket and necklace from "Shinjuku Starlet"-- one of the Spring/Summer outfits from Liberty Jane. We own all eight outfits now... but we have only shown you the first four here on the blog. We are very slow.... but you guys already knew that. ;-)

And p.s.--- Sun Ji and Ivy's sandals are handmade by Etsy seller BetsyStyle. Betsy currently has 15 different pairs of sandals available in her store right now, including Halloween and Christmas-themed pairs. They are really affordable and she will put straps on the back of them to help keep them on your dolls' feet if you want. Her shop also offers a lot of very pretty dresses. Betsy is a super-cool seller and we highly recommend buying from her!

So FYI... the new Fall/Winter Liberty Jane Clothing line will start to appear as Ebay auctions next week, probably after Halloween. And their Fall-o-ween Youtube and Facebook design contest is currently happening. That ends on October 31st. If you don't get the Liberty Jane newsletter, we recommend you sign up for it. It tells you about their outfits, contests, patterns, and clothing available from their partners.

For Your Perusal: Ivy for the Giveaway

Just wanted to post some pics of the giveaway Ivy we received on Monday. She does have a bit of the "one-eye-bigger-than-the-other" problem, but she still looks cute to us. Luckily, if you don't like the eye size difference, there are still 2 other dolls to choose from for our next giveaway. ;)

We took her out of the box and checked her legs--- no green! So maybe the green legs/green pants issue is a thing of the past. We hope so!

Also, make sure you check out the Fall Line of Melody Valerie Couture on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 ---- that is the big release day! That's only seventeen days away!

Hanfu for Ramona

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Today we show you the Hanfu set that was purchased for Ramona from Etsy seller makotokou. Her Etsy shop is known as "Jupiter's Closet"- which is a cool name. We have purchased a couple items from her before, including this kimono, which we posted about back at the dawn of time when we were just introducing our dolls and getting used to taking photos of them. Ah how time flies. Heehee.

Well "Jupiter's Closet" doesn't offer a lot of stuff on a regular basis so when we saw this red and white Hanfu costume we knew it was too cool to pass by. :)

What is Hanfu?

Enter Wikipedia: Han Chinese clothing or Hanfu, and sometimes referred in English sources simply as Silk Robe (especially those worn by the gentry) or Chinese Silk Robe, refers to the historical dress of the Han Chinese people, which was worn for millennia before the conquest by the Manchus and the establishment of the Qing Dynasty in 1644. (In simpler terms, Hanfu is a form of traditional Chinese fashion, using elaborate silk cloth robes, that inspired traditional Korean dress and the Japanese kimono.)

Han Chinese clothing is presently worn only as a part of historical reenactment, festivals, hobby, coming of age/rite of passage ceremonies, ceremonial clothing worn by religious priests, or cultural exercise and can be frequently seen on Chinese television series, films and other forms of media entertainment.

On Wikipedia they show you traditional art which includes Hanfu and some diagrams, but we wanted to share something more interesting than those things. So we went to the Internet to search out cooler pics.

And last but not least, pictures of Ramona wearing her Hanfu set, which included the hair accessory, slippers, corset, jacket, double-layered skirt, and two belts (one of which is very fancy and has the medallion handing from it).

New Dolls! Woo hoo! --- #44, Ivy and (#40)

Finally, the UPS man came today with the dolls Penny had ordered last week! So exciting!

Unfortunately, we are not going to keep the #40 because her eyes were a little too strange for Penny- one being a radically different shape than the other and they gaze in two different directions. Oh well. We can't win them all, and the Jess face mold eyes are never exactly the same size and shape from left to right eye. :(

Penny is considering exchanging her for another #40, but then she also realized once we took some pictures for you that #40 looks a lot like Jess (our Ruthie). Their hair parts on the same side, and the #40's hair was a lot longer than we thought it would be. Maybe if we get a new #40 with good eyes we will give her a haircut.

But I'll stop rambling and give you quick explanations of what you see below.

#44 is yet un-named- but her hair is gorgeous and we are definitely keeping her. Though she probably won't be modeling too many outfits in order to keep her hair nice. For names, we were thinking about Veronica, or Autumn, or Gabriella, or maybe Heidi, or......? Any suggestions for us? She is meant to be one of Stella's friends from her old school in her old town- so she'd be around 15/16 years old.

Meanwhile, our Ivy immediately took off her 1970s duds, ran around naked for a little while, and then grabbed the nearest Liberty Jane items she could find for the photo shoot. She didn't even bother putting on shoes! So I guess this would also qualify as a sneak peek to our Liberty Jane items. ;) Her name is Ramona J. Dove and she attends the private school with Stella and Sundari, making her around 14/15. She is a freshman.

And the #40, which will be returned, was meant to be Sabrina M. Dove- Ramona's younger sister. We will have to wait and see if we want a new #40 to play that role. Or perhaps a #40 or #30 with an eye swap to some other color besides brown??? Who knows right now...but we will keep you updated.
