L'arrivée de Archie

Don't ask us why we put the title in French. :-P
We are in a weird mood.
One fueled by lack of sleep and insanity most likely. :-P again.

So Archie -- Our first American Boy Custom doll is here!
Woot!
We ordered a "Doll Without Hair" style #5 from AG last week with the free shipping code.
He has light brown eyes.
(But we can't really tell the difference between light and dark brown anyways.)

WARNING: Long post, lots of pics.
If you want to see any of them larger, just click on one and you will be brought to a larger slideshow.

Here he is cross-dressing in a pic that we will use for blackmail.
It's quite embarrassing to be a boy dressed as a girl,
never mind us publishing them on the interwebs.

Archie in his first boy outfit.
Jeans are from Liberty Jane.
Rolled cuffs are from hipsters.
Hoodie is from Etsy seller All Dolld Up.

Head shots. Literally.
For those of you curious about what an AG bald head looks like.

Then Archie got two wigs from Monique -- Johnny style, size 10-11, colors black and medium auburn. Direct from Monique's online shop.
Got here very quickly.

They have an adjustable strap built into them which we found mostly useless.

Stylings attempts with the black wig.

Style One

The black wig did have more shedding than the auburn one.
But they are both high-quality wigs.
The short boy-style is difficult to style when you are anal like us.
But we are trying. :-P

Style Two

Style Three

Styling attempts with the medium auburn wig.

Style One. A bit too high on the head.
Needs to be closer to his eyebrows.

Style Two

Style Three

Emo hairdo eating his head.

Which wig and style do you prefer???

Overall, we are super-excited about Archie.
We keep staring at him and squeeing.
He is probably a bit nervous by now.

While playing with his wigs we determined there is probably a front and a back to them that we are supposed to be paying attention to. But then we kinda decided to ignore that.

We aren't gluing down the wigs, so we plan on playing around with them perpetually. Maybe he will get more colors in the future. And he can even cross-dress as a girl again if he wants to, given the amount of girl wigs we have strewn about our doll closet.
He says "No way" to that though....
(Evil plots begin...)

2012 Holiday MyAG Reindeer PJs Review

Hola!

American Girl Free Shipping ends today, Dec. 9th.

Use code SHINE at checkout. Works on orders $75 and over.
________________

This is our MyAG Reindeer PJs review. $28.

These are worth the cost if you need jammies and like the color scheme.
AG really blows most other retailers and handmade sellers out of the water when it comes to pajamas. Sorry, but it is true.
The fit is better, as well as the realism. Instead of using one fabric with an oversize novelty pattern -- they do different fabric combinations and small patterns. And again, the fit is better than 90% of what we see on the market.

If you want to make handmade AG-size jammies, take your cues from AG.
Stop making jammies that are over-sized and ill-fitting.

Here is Joanie modeling them for you. Her wig is from Ruby Red Galleria.

We don't like this RRG wig as much as the RRG black one because you can see the fabric wig cap at the part. Boo.

The antler headband is a flexible cloth circle that is pulled on -- so it's not a stiff headband.
Cute antlers. Well-made. And a good scale.

We like the contrasting stitching of the top.
It reminds us of Alp-n-Rock. One of our favorite brands.
Shirt has a very good fit as well.

Alp-n-Rock tops.

Joanie has the sweetest face and she looks great in this deep auburn hair color.

Thumbprint reindeer detail on the front of the shirt.

Pants are silky and shiny.

Detail of thumbprint reindeer on pants.

Slippers are soft, fuzzy and pink with white snowflake embroidered accents.
They are held on with elastic at the back.

Overall Review:

Again, you can't beat AG jammies.

$28 isn't bad seeing that you get a top, pants, slippers, and a headband.

If you like the blue and pink color scheme, and reindeers -- go for it.

Also, for those of you who don't celebrate Christmas -- these are a good pair of winter jammies that don't blatantly say "Christmas."

Thanks for visiting us today!

Let us know if you have any questions about this set. :-)

Joanie's New Black Wig and LJ Outfit

Just a quick post with Joanie sporting one of her new Ruby Red Galleria wigs.

This is by far the best wig of the bunch that we received.

Says it is dark brown, but to us it looks black. Blacky McBlack Black.
Did they send us the wrong one? Who knows? Looks good to us though.

We put it on at an angle so she would have a side-part.

Her outfit is Liberty Jane. Her boots are her Meet MyAG boots.

Enjoy zee pics!

p.s. For those of you in the dark, Joanie is an AG Doll Without Hair that we ordered who has a collection of wigs to show off. It is like getting a new doll every time we put a new wig on her!
