Final Two AGPNY Custom Tees

Eek! It's been almost a week since our last post here! Ack! Where does the time go???

Today we show you Sabrina and Ramona together (I don't think we've ever actually showed them together in a picture before!) modeling the final two custom tees we bought at AGPNY back in January. Sabrina is wearing the "It's Easy Being Green" tee with two birdies and an apple, paired with Liberty Jane jeans. She is also sporting the embroidered beret and clogs from the AG JLY Photographer's Outfit. Meanwhile her sister is dressed in the "Stand Tall" tee shirt with corduroy pants from Etsy seller Doll Closet. Her sneakers are from Ebay- just normal wholesale mass-manufactured sneaks. Ramona's earrings are from the Pretty Party earrings set we purchased at AGPNY.

Feel like shopping? Liberty Jane merchandise can be found HERE, and Doll Closet goodies can be found HERE.

Please enjoy our pictures below of Sabrina and Ramona climbing up a staircase built from Twilight books. Yeah, we are a little weird sometimes. ;)

Lanie's Garden Outfit and Various Souvenirs

The continuing saga of the January 2010 purchases for the dolls of Badger's Wood....

Today Sabrina is modeling Lanie's Garden Outfit for us while posing next to Kit's desk which has been decked out with toys Penny purchased in New York City. Lanie's Garden Outfit consists of a white bucket hat, blue plaid tank top, white Bermuda shorts, a multi-color beaded bracelet, and lime green strappy sandals. Sabrina is also holding up the AGPNY store exclusive backpack in her right hand, so you can see what that looks like with a doll.

What's on the desk??? Well, on the very top of the desk are two vinyl Ugly Doll toys with a yellow Skelanimals puppy. On the main work surface are two Tokidoki Cactus Pups flanking a Skelanimal keychain puppy, and in the corner is a pink Skelanimal bear. Behind the Cactus Pups is the Mini "Meet Kaya" book which, of course, came with our new Mini Kaya doll. Mini Kaya is hanging out with our new flying pig stuffed toy, which is really a finger puppet. Lots and lots of toys were purchased in NYC, if you can't tell-- courtesy of AGPNY, Toys R' Us, and the MoMA gift shop. ;)

Enjoy the pics!

Angelina's New Shirt from AGPNY

Hola everyone! Sorry for the lack of plentiful posts and pictures these past few weeks. We have not been producing as many posts lately as we would have liked, but sometimes "real" life can get in the way of dolly fun time. ;)

In truth, we haven't even posted about all the AG stuff we got in the month of January. And February is already moving along! So today we try and make some progress on that front by posting about Angelina's new long-sleeve custom shirt from AGPNY! Yes, Angelina was given a white long-sleeve shirt with the "Follow Your Heart" design on it. It is three-dimensional, velvety and requires more time to iron it on. And it is purple and awesome!

Here is Angelina posing with our Husky dogs, Wolfflin and Panofsky. Wolfflin is actually the AG dog Pepper, but we renamed him. Angelina is wearing the purple eared hat from Lavenderlore, Liberty Jane jeans, and the boots and scarf from the 2009 AG Just Like You Frosty Fun Outfit.

Angelina loves her new shirt! Purple is one of her favorite colors.
More new AG stuff will be posted about soon...so stay tuned readers!

And as our final thoughts for today... Both of our Lanie(s) winners have responded to our emails! Yippee! Our "team" is now packaging up their prizes for shipping. Double-Yippee!

So who should we give away next? Sonali or Kirsten? Vote in the poll at the top right-hand menu! Thanks for voting everyone!

Lira Meets Alice

Hola!
This post is about Lira meeting Alice for the first time, as staged in front of Kit's desk. ;) We really like this desk. It mixes up our normal mode of operation for photo shoots (mugshots against the white walls.... heehee). Furniture is definitely a neat prop to have in photos, but we don't always have the time to set it up after we do all the wardrobe changes and hair fixes for the dollies. :(

For this meet and greet, Lira is wearing the Sparkly Star pink tee and roll-cuff jeans (unrolled) from AGPNY and Alice is wearing the Purchase with Purchase Pink Hearts Outfit from AGPNY. So basically I am using this post as a way to show you these two outfits on our dolls. :) You also see Sugar and some more of those toys from last time in these shots. The vase on the top of the desk is from Greece- Lira's father got it for her. He is an archaeologist and goes to Greece every summer on vacation to excavate Ancient Greek antiquities. In Athens they sell these "mini" vase reproductions for the tourists. :)

So here is Lira Sartorius meeting Alice Wilder Baldwin for the first time... and some shots of random stuff in the scene.....

Here are some shots of Alice and her outfit...

And in this last slideshow are some shots of Lira and her outfit...

Two more weeks until the Lanie giveaway winners are announced! Anyone excited??? Next week we will show you the handmade items which will be included with the dolls... once we finish up that photo shoot.... :D

Karen's New T-Shirt

Hello again!
Here is a post about Karen's new custom T-shirt from AGPNY. It features a brand-new design with a little owl on a branch and the words "Whoooooo loves the planet? I do!" above the owl. The custom T-shirt shop at the AG store allows you to create your own shirt in either white, pink, or periwinkle, and either short or long-sleeved. Then there are about 30 iron-on designs to choose from. We had four made for us in total. Here is the first! We had never done this before and it was fun to try it. There weren't a lot of people in the store, so there was no line for the custom shirts. Made it much easier to enjoy this activity without a lot of people around. ;)

LinneaAnne handcrafted her own much more awesome version of this T-shirt, which you can see on her blog here. The store version is just an iron-on that pales in comparison to the coolness of the layered-scraps owl with button eyes which LinneaAnne made. But Karen is still very satisfied with her new T-shirt, even if it is not handmade. ;)

You see her in the photos below wearing the shirt with the roll-cuff jeans which are a store exclusive I showed you last time, and the lavender sneakers. She is posing by Kit's desk with some cute items. The two tea sets from AGPNY are on the desk, as well as a Kamibashi String Doll Panda, a framed "painting" by Frederick C. Frieseke titled "Through the Vines," and an artist's manikin. On the chair sits a Mini Deglingos Hedgehog named Pikos. Here is the website for Deglingos where you can learn more about them and search for retailers (there are many online retailers for Deglingos). There are also several other fun lines of toys offered by the company that creates Deglingos.

Okay, as you can tell, I was slightly distracted by fun toys today... but I hope you enjoy the photos below; they are the first photos we took of Karen out of her box. :D

Some of Our AGPNY Purchases

Tada! A third post on our NY trip, woohoo! I am being so productive.
This is our slideshow of some of our purchases from the AG store. Not all of them are here; some are being sent separately because we wanted to play with them in the city. Those pictures will come later, after that package arrives. :)

So what do you see below???

I shall make a list, because that is probably the easiest way to explain what you are seeing.
1. The big brown box from the UPS man, with plenty of plastic bags full of air. They weren't really doing much of a job "cushioning" the items inside the box.....but let's just try and pretend that they were....
2. Ooooo, stuff in the box!!!
3. Ooooo, stuff out of the box! Sugar and Pepper puppies. Couldn't resist these cuties for our doggie collection!
4. Glitter Star Tee store exclusive
5. Roll Cuff Jeans store exclusive
6. Pink Hearts Outfit, the special Purchase with Purchase deal for $15
7. Downtown Backpack store exclusive
8. Berry Doll Hoodie store exclusive

(Yes, there is a lot of pink going on in these store exclusives, but Penny bought them anyway because she is a sucker for in-store items that she can't order online. And they aren't the light pastel pink that she really doesn't care for. But trust me, there was 20 minutes of her in the store debating whether or not to buy them because of the colors.... hee hee.)

9. Silver Jacket store exclusive
10. Doll Tea Set store exclusive
11. Pretty Party earrings
12. Black Riding Boots (2 slides)
13. Sporty Sneakers, nice lavender color (not pink, woohoo!)

14. And two brand-new fantastic dolls! The JLY #24, who is Alice Wilder Baldwin (see Laura Ingalls Wilder wikipedia article for more info.... wink wink). She is going to be a time-traveling modern girl who goes back to the pioneer days quite a bit. And the JLY #28, who is Karen Navarre (cousin of Arista Lee Navarre). These dolls are just so pretty and it was a blast being able to pick them out in person. We wish we could do that for every doll we buy, but alas, that is not really easily done. :(

So please enjoy the photos below and stay tuned for more photos of the rest of our AGPNY purchases and a lot more photos of Alice and Karen!

AGPNY Photographs Part Four- Final Installment!

Rebecca is tired, worn out, and just plain frazzled. Or at least she looks like that in our first picture below. This doll, pictured in her pink Movie Dress, is right in the doorway to the store and was constantly being touched and played with by customers. She looked like she needed a break. Though I believe she was secretly loving all of the attention- you can see it in the twinkle in her eye.

Our other photos show full-length shots of Rebecca in her Movie Dress, in her Meet Dress with Accessories, in her School Outfit, and finally in her Meet Dress without Accessories. In the last shot you can see that someone managed to form her hair into cool sausage curls!

Weirdly enough, all of these dolls have their arms out like they are trying to catch their balance... I guess it is to show off the outfits. But they also kind of look like they want to do the shimmy. More dancing? Perhaps. I wonder what happens when the lights go out at AGPNY? Toy Story American Girl style with a DanceDanceRevolution party? (That would be totally awesome...)

Overall, the store was a little overwhelming for Penny because there was a lot of detailed stuff to look at in the cases and dioramas around the store. But she was a woman on a mission, so she couldn't just "browse" around casually and waste a lot of time. She needed to pick out dolls! It will definitely require another trip to get better acquainted with the store.

As far as the Rebecca items, they all looked pretty nice to her but obviously we won't be seeing the pink Movie Dress in Badger's Wood. I hope the pictures Penny's sister took at AGPNY have been entertaining for you and have maybe helped you with your shopping decisions!

AGPNY Photographs Part Three

We are half-way through the AGPNY photos that I have been throwing at you left and right!

Today's post will feature images of Rebecca's Bed, Kittens, Pajamas, and Robe Set. This is the post where we start to notice that 1) Rebecca's hair seems to have 10,000 different styles in the store and 2) it sometimes appears to have a greasy goo in it that helps to limit the frizziness, but also looks greasy. Apparently this is how the AGPNY display staff tames the curls? You may be able to see it best in the fourth photo below where Rebecca is standing in her pajamas next to her bed and kittens.

Needless to say, Penny would love to be able to use all of these hairstyles on our own Rebecca. But they probably are not the easiest things to re-create. Even the pony-tail would probably take a lot of effort to look that smooth and sleek as the hairs are pulled back. But I digress from our topic...

The first image is of the bed, which you will see upon entrance to the store on the first floor. As you may be able to guess, Penny has no interest in the bed because it is pink. It is a lovely design though. If she reads somewhere that it can be painted with success, maybe she would consider buying it.

The next photo is of the kittens up-close, looking like they just had an argument and aren't talking to each at the moment. Heehee. This photo is followed by Rebecca standing in her jammies which do not come with any socks or slippers. So she is kind of awkwardly barefoot.

The robe set includes the slippers, which you can see in the last image in this post, after the shot of Rebecca standing next to her bed. Note the little kittens sitting next to the bed cuddling with each other. This set has not been arguing. Heehee.

The final photo in this post amused me the most because to me it looks like Rebecca is about to start her own conga line. Perhaps this was not the most graceful and poised doll to choose to include in my post, but the pose entertains me.

But more importantly, the pajamas and robe set are very cute and Penny happily purchased them on May 31st online. They have been gifted to Ruthie as her new jammies, robe and slippers. Are they accurate for the 1930s? Probably not. But Penny saw them as too cute to pass over and Ruthie was enamored of the cozy softness of the three items. Someday, once I am done posting about all of this vacation fun I should show you pictures of Ruthie in these AG duds.

Stay tuned for "AGPNY Photographs Part Four" coming this Friday! Woohoo! The final installment in our series of photographs of the American Girl Mecca in New York will show off many more Rebeccas and her dresses!

AGPNY Photographs Part Two

Here we are again showing you AGPNY and specifically Rebecca's Sideboard, Sabbath Set, and School Supplies. Huzzah! First we start off with the illustrated image of Rebecca hanging above her cases on the historical floor, accented by the very large chandelier hanging above it. Very fancy.

Then we have the sideboard, and the very very shiny samovar. It is made of shiny awesomeness. After two more photos of the fantastic samovar (can you tell I like the samovar?) and the rest of the Sabbath Set, we show you a photo of the School Supplies sitting on top of the sideboard. In this last photo luckily the pickles look like pickles, and not like goose poop. :)

You may notice the back of Rebecca's movie hat in the third image below. At first glance I thought it was a floating cake and I was pretty excited by this. Nope, not a magical levitating baked good but instead a poofy white and pink hat just trying to distract me from the shiny-samovar-goodness. Hmmm, now I have a craving for cake....

Next I will show you Rebecca's Bed, Kittens, Pajamas, and Robe Set in "AGPNY Photographs Part Three" which will appear here in The Doll Wardrobe on Wednesday July 1st. JULY FIRST! My goodness, where oh where did June go?

AGPNY Photographs Part One

After we loaded all of the pictures from the camera to the computer we discovered we have A LOT of interesting images of AGPNY, more than we could really put in one post without going overboard. Well, they are interesting images to us. And I hope of interest to all of you readers, especially the ones who might not live close to an AGP.

Since this is Part One, I will just post an introduction to these images and then next week I will double up on my posts to show you the other AGPNY photos, as well as some new handmade outfits. That way no one will get too bored with what I am talking about!

First we have a photo of the fancy doll clogs Penny purchased after her sister exclaimed that they were the cutest shoes ever. They are pretty darn cute! I will have to scheme a way for them to become my clogs and maybe even get a coordinating outfit... Who says I have to share?

Then we have two overview images of the Rebecca cases on the historical floor at AGPNY. Look closely at the second image below. Notice the man at the far right, behind the glass case, in the red and white striped shirt who is holding onto a doll box for dear life? He is my favorite part of all of these photos. Though I'm not sure if I would describe his body language as tired, traumatized, or just tranquil...

The last two photos in this post show you the little glass-enclosed diorama for Rebecca. Each of the historical dolls has something like this, but we just have photos of Rebecca's case. Notice our close-up shot of the nesting dolls on the windowsill. Which reminds me I still have to show you our new set of nesting dolls....so much to write about...so little time!

On Monday I will post about a new handmade outfit from Ebay seller keepersdollyduds, and also show you some images of Rebecca's Sideboard, Sabbath Set, and School Supplies.

AGPNY Third Doll Purchase Revealed!

Who is the third doll that Penny picked out at American Girl Place New York during our vacation?

Drum roll please!
Dadadadadadadadada....
Rebecca Rubin!

Yes, yes- maybe it is not such a surprise that Rebecca was purchased. Especially since she was standing right in the doorway of AGPNY upon arrival, taunting Penny as she walked in. Other dolls on the wish list will just have to wait a bit longer to be purchased. Rebecca was calling out to be bought. So into the bag she went, with her Meet Accessories.

Our pictures below show her right out of her box, minus her "gold" hair clip. It was falling out of her shiny locks as she was taken out of the box and when it was opened by Penny's strong human hands it snapped in half. Yes, brand-new and broken. Ho-hum. Not the thickest plastic ever created on Earth, needless to say. You are all forewarned to be careful with your Rebecca hair clip.

So Rebecca's hair had to be redone with an elastic and some ribbon. Penny's comments on Rebecca's curly hair included the following: "These curls are really difficult to manage," "The hair pick is only making them frizz out more," and "Oh My Lord, I may need to straighten this hair some!" AG curly wigs + a semi-OCD person = frustration. How does anyone ever manage to work with Nicki's hair? (FYI- Nicki is a Limited Edition Girl of the Year doll with way, way more curls than Rebecca.)

Of course, once most of the curly hair problems were sort of dealt with (i.e. the taming of the wig), it was determined that Rebecca's hair looks really fantastic in photographs. Which makes Penny think twice about straightening the hairs.

Rebecca is quite a pretty young girl. But she kind of looks worried. It seems like the Chrissa dolls also have this slight worried look to their eyebrow/eye region. Maybe it is just in my head though... anyway, let's just call her pensive instead of worried. Currently "Pensive Rebecca" is lost. Penny doesn't want a 1914 doll. So where should she be placed in the historical timeline? Who should she be?

For now, we will show many pictures of her in the 1914 meet outfit below. In our next post we will show you some of the photographs Penny's sister took in AGPNY, including the many many Rebeccas and some of the items in her collection and display cases. After that post, we might return to this whole "Who is Rebecca?" issue and ask for your help with this matter.

Hope you enjoyed our "big" reveal. Until next time, toodles, pips, and cheerios!

Introduction to Two of the New Dolls!

Wow, June is quickly coming to an end and Friday is my last day of school! Yippee! Well, my last day of school until the fall comes... but let's not dwell on such dark thoughts. For now, let's enjoy the summer months and get ready to relax!

For this post I will introduce you to two of the three dolls which Penny picked out at American Girl Place New York. The first thing Penny did when she walked in the door at AGPNY was go to the concierge desk to the right of the doors and ask how a customer gets stuff shipped to themselves. All that is taken care of at check-out! Good to know. You fill out your address on a form, you get charged extra for shipping and it is delivered by UPS.

Seven to ten business days for delivery was the estimate from the cashier. But it actually arrived in Badger's Wood in two days. TWO DAYS! Can you believe it? Derek was opening the box (and reading the receipt) before we were even half-way through our vacation!

Anyway, the second thing Penny did was hand her camera to her sister so she could take photos of the store while Penny looked at the dolls. She started her quest in the "Just Like You" areas on the first floor, positioned to the left and right of the doors. (Penny's sidenote: The store's floor plan was not designed for easy-traffic-flow. So it can be a little daunting, especially when people are lined up at the concierge desk to check-in for special events and they block the doorway. Eek! AG, are you reading this?)

The first doll Penny picked out was the mystery girl which will be revealed on Wednesday June 24th. Those of you who consider yourselves to be Sherlock-Holmes-reincarnated have probably already figured out which doll was purchased. Those of you who are more like the Dr. Watsons of the world and are usually asking Holmes "Who? What? When? and How?", check back on Wednesday for the "big" reveal!

The second doll Penny chose was the #16 destined to be customized into our 1950s girl. She looked at every single #16 doll on the floor trying to find one with eyes that were the same size. Or as close to being the same size as she could find. The AG face molds do not always provide the perfect symmetry of parts that Penny finds so comforting in her dolls. By the time she was looking at her 20th #16 doll, Penny's sister was ready to throttle her with her own camera...

Eventually a doll was chosen, and she moved up to the historical floor to find a Felicity doll (with eyes that were generally the same size) to be made into Elinor Dashwood once she gets her brown eyes in place. This search was accomplished relatively quickly in comparison to the #16 quest. With 3 dolls, some accessories, and a pair of doll clogs in tow Penny dragged her bag of goodies up the check-out. (Penny's sidenote: They really need carts, not just big bags. They get way too heavy to lug around- even with just one doll in them. But the store aisles are too narrow for carts and they should be wider for more movement. Again, AG, are you reading this?)

After all the checking-out occured and the goodies were handed off to the cashier to be shipped, Penny remembered she wanted to get a Statue of Liberty costume for Muddiford (fka Coconut), and one of the little carry-all bags for dolls that are store-exclusives. Back to the check-out...

So for now I will show you the #16 and Felicity dolls. In the pictures below you will first see the #16 (yet to be named via our poll, which will probably close after we reveal her with her green eyes), then Felicity, and finally the two dolls side-by-side so you can pretend to envision an eye-swap between the two. (Which will eventually occur.)

Sorry for the long post! (Gee, my little vinyl fingers are tired.) Enjoy our pictures below and I'll return on Wednesday with further AGPNY adventures!
