Modernizing the Spencer, Attempt #1

Sup peoples!

We've finally managed to craft a post with like, pictures.
Woot!

This is our first attempt to experiment with Caroline's Coral Spencer Jacket, modernizing it.
We put it on Adanya, wearing a slip from Melody Valerie underneath a dress by L'Atelier de Sitara. Her shoes are brass dress shoes we got from Liberty Jane a thousand years ago.

This is the final look.

We started with the jacket closed.
And without extra lip color on Adanya.
The jacket additions are earrings.
Yes, earrings.
We stuck those puppies right through the jacket as modern decoration/bling.

Then we decided the jacket would look more modern if we folded back the front sides.

And we added lip color to balance with the jacket so her face didn't look washed out.

Two more shots.

We think it all looks pretty good.
The jacket does look better open and folded in, in our opinion.
Also, it works well with the dress because the flare of the skirting balances the shoulder breadth of the jacket. Slim jeans wouldn't balance with the jacket, making the scale look off.

So this is our first experiment.
We hope it was entertaining for y'alls. :-D

We might try another experiment with the jacket if we get an idea.

More posts coming soon with the MyAG Santa apron baking set and some more Regency clothing! Stay tuned!

FDC In-Progress Shots Examples

Hola!

Just a reminder -- the first design idea images for the Fashion Design Challenge are due
this Friday, September 7th.

Go here for more info on this contest:

We have just a few entries -- so chances of winning are pretty high -- especially since there are two categories of entrants, newbies and pros.

So both hobbyists and sellers are welcome!!!

Today we are going to share with you some more outfit "in-progress" shots courtesy of
Melody Valerie Couture.

You can see more of this info from MVC's blog, for example on their customs page: http://melodyvalerie.wordpress.com/custom-2/

These are MVC's in-progress shots for our Today's Fairytales dress.

Fabrics and trim.

Construction.

The dress design is based upon this "idea" shot of a human dress:

Also, we have custom-ordered several 1950s dresses from MVC.
Here are some in-progress shots for our Sapphire dress.

Deciding the ribbon accent placement.

Studying the back.

This was also based upon human clothing, a red 1950s dress.

And this custom middy dress isn't ours, but it is also based upon human clothing from a ye olde photograph. You can see the in-progress shots:

And then the finished product:

Hopefully this helps you guys define what types of images to submit for the contest.

Words from Melody Valerie Couture: "I usually try to communicate something with in-progress shots, be it 'yes, something is happening with your dress' or more specifically, 'here's what the trim will look like, this is your chance to speak up if you don't like it!' Mockups would also count in my book as 'in progress'; they're meant to show the final shape and design lines."

Thanks MVC for letting us share your pics here!

Thanks for visiting us today readers!

Masquerade: A Starlight Studios Production

So we're kind of slow to post about this, since the Youtube video was posted on March 17th and it's already the 21st - haha. But we only watched the film last night - so we are just slow in general. ;-)

Sitara's Starlight Film Studios has a new release called "Masquerade." It features a lot of Melody Valerie Couture items, some Liberty Jane clothing, and a couple items Sitara made herself (L'Atelier de Sitara).

Seven of the dresses you see in the film were loaned to the film production studio by us - just like many film studios rent costumes for their productions (particularly in the United Kingdom where you will see historical costumes pop up in movies, mini series, and shows again and again if you pay attention, heehee.)

Starlight Film Studios has done a wonderful job with this film and we are proud to have contributed to the costuming for this project. :-D

So here is the linky: http://youtu.be/Mybl_RtLchs

Enjoy!

p.s. For those of you wishing to see more of our dresses that were featured in this film, we did a special photo shoot which we will show off here soon.

p.p.s If you'd like to learn more about Starlight Film Studios, visit their new blog here.

Melody Valerie Outerwear For Sale!

The new MVC line is being offered for sale today, starting about 16 mins ago....

We treated ourselves to the items below. ;-)

Check out the new stuff today!

Melody Valerie Blue Skies

The new summer line was released about 15 mins ago... and I think it will be sold out asap. MVC is getting to be very popular and people are willing to pay for the quality. We managed to snag one of each dress, but kind of barely we think. Haha. It was a frenzy.

So we thought that given the name "Blue Skies" that the dresses might be blue.... turns out that was correct... so with blue being our fav color... it didn't take much to twist our arm to get these.

We absolutely love the outdoor photo shoot this time around. We barely manage to get outside to take pics here. So these are super-awesome!

ETA: About an hour after release, two un-reserved dresses are still available in the shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MelodyValerie ....one UltraMarine and one Daydream, the last and first pics in this post.

Melody Valerie's Margot

Another pink dress from MVC.... oooooo!.... but yes, despite it being primarily pink, we bought it anyways because we really don't have any dance costumes and this is a very pretty ballerina dress. Plus, the "woven" bodice, layered tulle, and ribbon detailing are amazing!

Elizabeth (that blonde, blue-eyed girl who doesn't know her real name yet, sheesh) got to model this dress from the 2011 Spring Line for us. She even showed off her diamond stud earrings in one shot. Fancy. And she did a "dance pose." Mostly we don't know what dance poses are.... but heck, we tried. ;-)

So we have a starter picture and then a video... and a friendly reminder that MVC is releasing their Summer Line on Saturday, July 2nd...

Oh and FYI -- we do use our Facebook page for posting about current Etsy and Ebay items and store announcements (like the MVC announcement) - so if you have a Facebook account -- be sure to "Like" us!

Thanks for visiting us today! And be sure to check out our earlier post about the new AG items that were released -- let us know which ones you'd like to see featured on the blog! :-)

p.s. Don't forget -- send in your Activity Three photos for our contest on or before June 28th!

Melody Valerie's Cecily

Hola! Sorry for the lack of posts! "Real life" has been busy and we kind of lost track of what we are supposed to be doing in "blog world."

So don't worry - we will start up new giveaways asap - two outfits for the month of June into July to keep celebrating the 25th Anniversary. Sorry for the delay on that everyone!

Today we have two things: a reminder to please vote for your fav(s) Activity Two photos before Sunday... http://thedollwardrobe.blogspot.com/2011/06/activity-two-photos-vote-today.html

And also a pic and video of Melody Valerie's "Cecily" dress from the Spring 2011 Line. Remember: MVC is supposed to be releasing a Summer Line this year - somewhere around the end of June/beginning of July.

I am modeling the "Cecily" dress as is, then with a chocolate cardi from All Dolled Up Doll Clothes, and then with a ADUDC belt added on to the ensemble. So you get to see how the look changes with each "add-on."

Hope you enjoy the pic and vid!

Thanks for visiting everyone!

Last Day to Enter Activity Two
And Melody Valerie Laurinda

Hola! June 9th, today, is the last day to email your entries for Activity Two "Hooray for Handmade" to us at nora.demington@gmail.com for the Doll Photo Contest. Email them today peoples!

Then once we get them all organized we'll make the really long post of pictures again for y'all to vote on. Yay!

Until then, enjoy our most recent production: Alice modeling the Melody Valerie Couture Spring 2011 "Laurinda" dress. Not only did we show you how pretty "Laurinda" is (hopefully), we also display how beautiful Alice is, our #24 (hopefully). We think she is stunning, especially her lovely, golden hair.

Okay, here is a starter pic and then the "musical slideshow"....

Stay tuned for the long post of contest pics. And remember, if you don't get an email reply from us saying "Received your entry" that means we didn't get your contest photo. So please, please send it again asap. Thanks!

Melody Valerie's Delphine

Hola! Today we have Felicity modeling "Delphine" from the Spring 2011 Melody Valerie Couture Line. It's an impressive two-piece ensemble that we have put into its own video. MVC does great work!

Also, we wanted to pair this dress with the Hobo Purse from Maiden Flight Clothing, which you also see in the video -- it matches perfectly with the dress!

MVC is planning a 2011 Summer Line perhaps at the end of June. And Maiden Flight offers items occasionally in their Etsy shop, both for AGs and Karito Kids. See the bottom of this post for pics of items currently available from MF.

Hope you like our pic and video of "Delphine!"

Items currently in the Maiden Flight/Brambleberry Cottage Shop...

Thanks for coming by today --
Hope your holiday weekend is going awesomely!
