Rebecca Giveaway Contest Update with
Pictures of the Handmade Dress

Well we got a lot of replies about our question to those who have entered the Rebecca Giveaway. And enough of you said that wonky-eyed or not- it didn't matter because it would still be awesome to win a doll. So we will give away more than one Rebecca doll! Woohoo!

For the grand prize winner, she/he will receive the less-wonky-eyed Rebecca doll, her Meet outfit, her Meet book, and her accessories. In addition she/he will receive the handmade outfit you see in the photos below, which includes the dress and the hair bow. We show it below on our own Rebecca Isaacke with her white tights and Rebecca's Meet boots. (The white tights aren't included with the giveaway.)

This outfit is a 1914 Yom Kippur dress for Rebecca created by Etsy seller MyOwnLittleWorldToo. But of course you can use it anytime of the year, even for Hanukkah. :)

So here she is, armed with a hairbow and an elegant white dress. The brooch on the neckline is attached to the dress (so that is included).

Tada! There, I finally posted the handmade outfit for the giveaway. I have accomplished something this week. Huzzah!

Coming up next in The Doll Wardrobe.... something great..... uh, yeah... I still haven't really worked out a schedule yet for this week... but keep your eyes peeled for more posts. And Happy Pre-Thanksgiving everyone!

Outfits of the Week- Etsy Highlights

Ooooo, time for our fun Outfits of the Week highlights and today we'll be showing you some of our favorite items from Etsy sellers. All photos in this post are the property of the listed sellers. We only use them here to showcase their products.

How do we find these items? The best way to search in Etsy for AG-sized doll clothing is to type in "American Girl, doll" in the Handmade search engine thingy. This way you should get mostly doll clothing for the right size doll. ;)

First we have a lovely five-color poncho, hat and purse set
from our favorite crochet goddess Etsy seller Lavenderlore.
Is your doll ready for the chilly fall weather?
Click here to see the listing.

Our second Etsy highlight is this cute fall dress created by
Etsy seller MyOwnLittleWorldToo.
This shop is very popular now and sells things out
faster than you can say woohoo!
Click here to see the listing.

The third highlight is this Work-A-Day cleaning set
from Etsy seller VintiqueDesigns56.
You may remember that our guest reviewer owns
one of these types of sets from this seller. :)
This particular outfit includes the dress, apron, pot holder,
oven mitt, and some tiny doll-sized clothespins.
You also get a dusting cloth, a head-wrap, and a cookie cutter!
A perfect set for Kit this autumn.
Click here to see the listing.

And last but not least, for those of you currently
panicking over the Kirsten archival... please keep in mind
that many talented seamstresses will still be making 1850s
prairie clothing for you long after the Kirsten dolls sell out...

Please visit Etsy seller Terristouch to see this
lovely Kirsten era ensemble for yourself.
It includes the muslin bonnet, ivory and green print dress,
flannel shawl, and apron with fancy stitching near the hemline.
Click here to see this listing.

Come on back to The Doll Wardrobe on Monday when we feature the Liberty Jane Clothing Celebrity Style outfit known as "Best of Both Worlds" and do another edition of the Mix and Match game. :)

p.s. Today is the last day to vote in our "What are your Favorite new JLY dolls?" poll in the right sidebar. The outcome of this poll might just determine a future doll giveaway here at The Doll Wardrobe....(hint hint....)

Outfits of the Week- Etsy Highlights

Hello again everyone! Sorry this post appeared a bit slowly, but today was a bit busy and we wanted to leave the Halloween Costume Giveaway at the top of the page for as long as possible. :)

Since we featured four outfits from Ebay last week, we thought we'd switch it up and feature four outfits from Etsy today. All photos you see below are the property of the sellers listed- we are stealing them in order to showcase them. ;)

First we have a 1914 dress for Rebecca from MyOwnLittleWorldToo.
These sell out quickly, so it could be gone by the time I post this.

And last but not least.... a modern outfit from AM-PM Creations with a floral top and jeans.
Can you tell I seem to have a red and pink theme today?

As reminders, on Monday we will be doing the BIG introduction of our Elinor Dashwood doll and of course don't forget to check out the Halloween Costume Giveaway post from September 12th. It runs until October 12th- so be sure to get your comments in soon. :)

MyOwnLittleWorldToo Zebra Leggings and Doll Closet Top

Returning again to our modern wardrobe, which we are slowly attempting to expand, we come to the green zebra striped leggings we purchased from Etsy seller MyOwnLittleWorldToo.

Stella saw these leggings in the Etsy shop and declared that she must have them right away. Penny usually finds it quite difficult to deny us dolls clothing, so into the checkout cart they went. Once they arrived in Badger's Wood, Stella starting experimenting with the leggings and a shirt from Etsy seller Doll Closet, as you can see below. The top is quite versatile and you will be seeing it again and again in our posts on our modern clothing.

Then Stella added on her original MyOwnLittleWorldToo denim skirt and a green scrap of fabric (that Etsy seller Doll Closet ties her packages with) as a belt. The final touch was the pair of lime green chucks which were purchased from Ebay seller releaserain.

Again Stella wanted to show off some of the new toys that she now has in Badger's Wood. A fan of "The Nightmare before Christmas" and Tim Burton, Stella received this Jack Skellington doll and his Zero dog accessory upon her homecoming. In the pictures below, you will discover Zero attempting to chew on Stella's shoelaces!

The next post from Marvelous Me, Nora Demington, will be on a Josefina outfit purchased from Etsy seller Terristouch. It will start off our "Week of Josefina" for Nora's posts here at The Doll Wardrobe Blog!

MyOwnLittleWorldToo Speed Racer Hoodie and Leggings

When Penny spotted this Speed Racer hoodie with matching striped leggings in the Etsy shop of MyOwnLittleWorldToo, she knew right away that I would want it.

For the photo shoot, I asked my stepsister Stella if I could borrow her denim skirt and yellow tank top that was purchased from the same store. She was nice enough to let me borrow both things, as well as a pair of lime green chucks! The shoes were purchased from Ebay seller releaserain.

Don't I look fabulous in the photos below? The best part of the Speed Racer hoodie and leggings is that they seem to be children's clothing that has been re-appropriated for dolls! Of course, I could be wrong about that, but still it is a very clever little outfit that is quite spiffy.

Do you think Ludwig the Sock Monkey will mind if I start referring to him as Chim-Chim? He probably wouldn't mind being called Sanpei...but Chim-Chim would probably sound a bit annoying to a sophisticated Sock Monkey like Ludwig.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, of course! On Friday we will announce the winner of the July 2009 Doll Giveaway here at The Doll Wardrobe. Please send us your name if you have not yet done so. And read this post here if you have no idea what I am talking about. ;)

See you soon!

Helpful Links for You!

One Doll Wardrobe reader pointed out that she can't go from my post to the shop of The Nimble Thimble via a link. And I realized that I typically forget to put links into my posts to direct you to the proper location for exploration. So I should really be a bit more consistent with that!

So for this week we discussed three Etsy shops:

MyOwnLittleWorldToo

TheNimbleThimble

and

Gomunkcreations!

Click on those names to visit their shops! I will try and put links into every post from now on. :)

And as an extra bonus, after reading our blog one seamstress decided to start posting her doll clothing up on Etsy! Visit this link to see Donna Cotterman's Creations! She currently has two white Regency gowns and a Harry Potter uniform up for sale. Very lovely stuff!

MyOwnLittleWorldToo Tank Top and Skirt

Okay, down to business! Here is the yellow batik tank top and denim mini skirt that Penny purchased for our new Stella. It came from Etsy seller MyOwnLittleWorldToo along with a couple other items that I will eventually show you all.

The top and skirt fit very well and my favorite part was the lace border at the neckline of the shirt. The skirt has elastic in the back and a polka dot ribbon on the front waistband. It seems like the skirt was once a pant-leg from a human-size pair of jeans. Very clever!

Stella said "This is my favorite outfit...that is until I get to try on something else.....I get to try on more clothes right?" I say, be careful what you wish for.....heehee.

Go here if you are interested in similar items. The seller currently has a denim mini skirt and pink tank top available that are close to what Penny purchased. Or at least she did when I wrote this post...

In the pictures below Stella is celebrating the Fourth of July with our new pet Sparks Flying. This little foal has been on our back ordered list for just about forever. Penny can't even remember when she placed the order! So here they are, sporting American flags and taking a break from a full weekend of watching fireworks.

My next post in the Doll Wardrobe will be on the dark satin gown which we purchased for Elinor Dashwood from Etsy seller TheNimbleThimble, a very long time ago. In order to give you a peek at some of the items we have stashed away for Elinor, we thought we'd show you this gown while she still has her green eyes as Felicity.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! Until next time, toodle-loo!
