And new custom hats from Etsy seller Lavenderlore!

You'll see these new custom eared hats paired with outfits in later posts, but we were so excited to receive them today at the same time we got our new #40 that we took some pictures. The new doll appears naked in the pictures and slideshow below so you can tell the #40s apart from each other.

The new doll will be our Sabrina M. Dove. No, her eyes are not perfect- but they are better than the last #40 and we'll accept her with her flaws. For some reason the Jess mold eyes are just not the same size on these dolls. But at least with this Sabrina they are mostly looking in the same direction. ;)

We are seriously considering doing an eye swap for Sabrina, and maybe a wig switcheroo. But we aren't sure what the plan is yet. We'll keep you posted. :)

So what's the story with these new hats?

Penny asked Christine over at Lavenderlore if she could create some eared knit hats for us modern dolls to enhance our cuteness factor. Christine happily accepted this custom commission last week, and POOF!-- the hats are already here!

We got four-- in brown, dark purple, dark green and a panda version-- perfect colors to go with our fall and winter outfits. We like them all so much, but are maybe leaning toward the panda one as our fave.

gehrom Brown Sweater and Hat Set

Well, I mentioned gehrom as a featured Ebay seller in our earlier post from today and I decided I should show you something that we have purchased from this seller.

If I just saw the name "gehrom," I'd probably think they sell AG-sized robot costumes or something...but in fact they sell knitted items!

Penny found two great knitted sets in their shop that she wanted: a brown sweater-coat and hat, and a grey and red sweater-coat and hat. The hats sort of look like they could work for the 1920s, 30s, and 70s. While Penny was trying to decide which time period they should go to, Kit demanded that they were both hers. That doll can be feisty!

So here is the first set in all of its knitted glory! Extra bonus: the flower on the hat is removable, and hence, movable. Yippee! It's a sweet set. Well-made. Super-warm for those chilly days. And it looks great on our lovely Kit.

Coming soon (tomorrow, maybe)..... two new outfits for the 1940s from the Terristouch Etsy shop! Yay for fantastic doll clothing! Wooohoooo! (Maybe I ate too much sugar today...)

sdls275 Colonial Era Yellow Gown and Hat

Tada! Here is the promised post on Ebay seller sdls275's Colonial Era Yellow Gown and Hat!

Penny won this lovely gown and straw hat from an Ebay auction and we couldn't be more pleased with it. This is our first colonial gown from this seamstress's studio- Heirloom Doll Designs. Six pieces in total arrived, nicely packaged in a special box and wrapped in tissue paper: straw hat decorated with flowers, yellow light-weight skirt that ties to the waist and even has pocket slits, patterned jacket with very fancy trim, two stomachers- one with lacing and one without, and a thin scarf that tucks into the jacket and stomacher.

We tried to put panniers underneath this skirt- but it wasn't going to happen with the tight-fitting jacket that scoops down over the waist and buttocks of the doll. The ensemble looks gorgeous without them- but just in case you were wondering where the panniers went- that is the story!

Mary is very very happy with her new outfit and is pleased as punch Penny won the auction. This outfit is certainly a unique and high-quality item! My favorite part is the ruffles around the jacket- how do you even make those? I have seen them on gowns in colonial paintings- but never understood the construction. Looking at them up-close and in person, all I can say is it is time-intensive work!

The Nimble Thimble Dress and Capote

Last month Penny found the Etsy Shop TheNimbleThimble- isn't that the most clever name ever? I think so. The creative mind or minds behind The Nimble Thimble normally make human-size historical clothing that ranges from awesome to more awesome.

Luckily for us, The Nimble Thimble branched out to 18"-doll-size historical clothing. So around the same time that we were buying the Nsaffen Regency period sage dress we bought a whole bunch of Regency period clothing from The Nimble Thimble. Can you tell I like typing "The Nimble Thimble?"

All in all, we purchased a black gown, a white day dress (which Josefina has stolen for herself), and this patterned gold gown with gold capote (the bonnet-hat-thing on Kit's head). All very well-made, gorgeous items.

Kit is modeling for us below, despite the fact that she comes from the 1930s. So now we have 3 Regency period dresses for our Elinor Dashwood doll, which doesn't even exist yet. Do you think we are jumping the gun? Maybe so, but when a seamstress suddenly decides to make Regency period doll clothes and sell them on Etsy you don't wait until you get the appropriate doll. You buy them while you can and hope they make more soon!

So thank you The Nimble Thimble and we hope you make more Regency period doll clothing soon! Or in truth, any period doll clothing would be fantastic (hint*hint*wink*wink).

Dollies' Dressmaker Kit Outfit

Phew. We are about half-way through the current photos that have been uploaded to Photobucket. Not to say we are half-way through all the outfits we have bought recently, not even close. But at least we are working through the pictures we have ready...

This is what happens when you shop on Ebay and you don't post on your blog for a month and a half.

Ok, I'll stop blithering now. Where was I? Oh, right. Kit has joined us, and we realized we don't have a lot of 1930s outfits from homemade sources. So we picked up two new dresses for Kit.

First we have this Dollies' Dressmaker blue ensemble composed of a dress, a crocheted hat, purse and stuffed Scottie dog toy. I was thinking this was more of a "Ruthie" style outfit. But once Kit put it on, I was convinced it could work for her as well. Especially when she is heading to downtown Cincinnati to do some window-shopping.

You can tell we also recently acquired the Pleasant Company Scenes and Settings books from Ebay. They are retired backdrop books that were created for Felicity, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha and Molly. Behind Kit is the Samantha ice cream shop...1900s not 1930s...but it still looks cool.

Lavenderlore Green Crochet Items

Penny promised us that she would eventually get another crocheted set of items from Etsy seller Lavenderlore and here it is!

The green colors of this poncho, hat, mittens and purse are just amazingly brilliant. It is a lovely set being modeled by our family's newest addition==== Sundari. She was adopted by Penny and Derek in January and is quickly becoming close friends with Stella (they are both in high school).

In order to supply Sundari with some new, trendy clothing Penny sliced up her old torn Tommy Hilfiger sweater and made a sweater dress out of one of the sleeves. Underneath the fab poncho, you will see this inventive dress. Mind you, it is not nearly as awesome as the stuff we buy from professionals, but it is a small accomplishment of doll-sized-greatness.

Nayasdesigns Fleece Outfit

Here I am modeling our latest purchase from Etsy seller nayasdesigns -- a fleece outfit in blue, green and white tones.

I let my sister model the new Keepers Dolly Duds purchase (very kind of me, I think), which you can see below. So I got to model this little number. It came with a jacket, pants, hat, mittens, blue boots, and a scarf. Quite a nice deal for all those items.

Next to me you see a pot of paperwhites that Penny has been growing. It's too cold to actually go outside and model the nayasdesigns winterwear, so we are using the flowers to give the photo-shoot an outdoorsy feeling. Heehee.

Keepers Blue Coat

Finders Keepers! Yes indeed, Penny was able to win two new Keepers Dolly Duds ebay auctions!

So now after the big holiday rush, I have a bit of time to post to this blog...before school starts up again. Ack... let's just not think about school right now.

We begin with this dark blue wool coat and hat with white accents- designed for the AG doll Ruthie. If you are interested in items from this talented seamstress- please check out her ebay store: keepersdollyduds.

Maggie Returns!

Just in time for the holidays, Maggie returns from the Music Conservatory!!!! Her semester of clarinet lessons and music classes are over and she gets to go back to her normal life. Even if she doesn't want to, haha.

Here she models a green jumper and white turtleneck from Etsy seller Terristouch. She especially likes it because the green color matches her eyes. The style is supposed to be '70s-era for AG doll Julie Albright. It is a really cute outfit.


She is also modeling a crochet hat from Etsy seller Always2CraftyLinda. Linda even included a free crocheted hat and shoes with our order! She makes these '70s style hats in a variety of neat colors.


In addition, I'd like to show you a lavender fleece jacket from Etsy seller Terristouch that looks just lovely with the green jumper. I really like how Maggie looks when the hood is up. She is adorable! You can custom-order this fleece in a bunch of different colors from Terri.

Handknit Items for Autumn

Jess is modeling a "Handknit Irish Fisherman Cream Poncho" with a hat and purse made by Etsy seller Lavenderlore. It even came with brand-new pennies for good luck! Wonderful items. I only wish I could knit like this. But I was never very good at sewing, knitting, or needlepoint. Christine Broach has a whole bunch of these poncho sets on Etsy, each more beautiful than the last.

Stella

Here is our stepsister Stella Grant. Her father Derek married our adoptive mother Penny Welser. They just moved into our house in Badger's Wood.
