Donna Cotterman Princess Leia Costume

Hi again! I'm attempting to get some more posts in before Turkey Day as we are traveling for that festive occasion and won't be able to post for awhile. And let's just hope I don't get sick again. Fingers crossed.

We purchased this Princess Leia costume with complimentary light saber from Etsy seller Donna Cotterman over a year ago and now we finally get around to showing it to you. Donna currently has a lot of interesting stuff for sale in her shop including this Princess Leia costume and Harry Potter school uniforms. So check it out today!

Our model is our MyAG #49-- Adanya Navarre. She makes a pretty cute Princess Leia. We tried to do her hair in the signature buns, but honestly we aren't very good at making cool hairstyles. :-( We are much better at the shopping and dressing dolls part of this blog. Haha.

But hopefully you still like Adanya's look despite the semi-dysfunctional buns-- Enjoy zee pics! Oh and p.s. the trick or treat bags are from the AG Fall Treats set that comes with 2 blank bags and stickers to decorate them-- Just FYI.

Our Pilgrim Duds

Yes, we finally get back to those pilgrim outfits I talked about on Thanksgiving but couldn't actually post all the pictures of because the computer I was working on was so sloooooooooooow. It was not a computer that was meant to do photo-editing. I'm sure some of you out there know too well what I am complaining about.

But complaints aside for now, we managed to snag ourselves two Pilgrim outfits this holiday season- one from Donna Cotterman's Etsy shop and the other from Ebay seller DollhouseDesigns_inTime.

I, Nora Demington, am modeling the Pilgrim ensemble from DollhouseDesigns_inTime (on the right), and Sabrina M. Dove is modeling the Pilgrim outfit from Donna Cotterman.

The ensemble from Ebay came with 5 pieces: bonnet, collar, jacket, skirt, and apron. The outfit from Donna came with 3 pieces: bonnet, jacket, and skirt. So in truth, because everything is separate pieces-- it is all interchangeable!

Don't we look so sweet? It was nice to have these costumes for our Turkey Day festivities. Unfortunately, despite still being able to frolic around in our pilgrim duds, we have run out of T-day leftovers. Ack! Somebody is going to have to start cooking again! Where's that Chinese take-out menu......

AGFMB Member Special Feature: Mrs. C

For today's AG Fans Message Board Member Special Feature, we wanted to showcase something Mrs. C. (Donna Cotterman) has made but has never sold. This post is a little late, we know (sorry everyone!)....but we eventually got around to creating it. Too much work to do and not enough time for fun blogging. :( I can't say this school year has been the easiest one so far. Anyone else want to do my homework for me? :P

So if you don't know, Mrs. C. is a member at AGFMB and also sells her wares at an Etsy shop she just opened this summer. Check out her Etsy store here.

Like all fine artists, even seamstresses sometimes make something they just don't have the heart to sell. She explained to us, "Here is the one outfit that I haven't been able to part with. No, we haven't played with it ....just modeled and then tucked in tissue paper. I know that someday someone will enjoy this gown....but for now.... it's at the doll house."

Donna Cotterman Dress and Intro to Elinor Dashwood

Whoa...sorry for the delay everybody! I thought I'd have time to prepare this post in the morning before school....or maybe after school... but time has flown by and here it is nighttime already!

In this post we show you the Felicity that had an eye swap with our revised #16. So Connie Bonacorsi, our 1950s doll, got green decal eyes and Felicity received the dark brown eyes. She was named Elinor Dashwood after the character from Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. Hence she mostly wears Regency period clothing (roughly 1795 to 1837 in England). Although she has been asking to try on some modern clothing as well.... maybe she has a split personality or she is a time traveler?

So here is our first up-close photo of Elinor with her brown eyes, in a mystery dress which we will show you in a later post. (Some of you can probably identify the dress....heehee.) This eye swap service was completed by the TLC Doll Hospital in Colorado.


In the pictures below, our Elinor is modeling a dress, hat, and shawl from Etsy seller Donna Cotterman. The outfit also came with the little yellow roses that Elinor is holding. Thank you so much for the fantastic dress and accessories Donna!

Luckily for us, Donna recently started up an Etsy shop so we were able to purchase this lovely ensemble. We are quite happy with everything but Elinor says her favorite part of this outfit is the hat. Not many people create Regency period historical hats and bonnets for AG-sized dolls because, of course, there are not any true Regency AG historical characters. So it is nice to finally have this type of accessory. :)

Coming up on this Wednesday we begin something new!

Caroline, over at American Girl Fans Message Board, gave us the idea to feature seamstresses who sew for themselves (or maybe sometimes on commission) and are AGFMB members. Of course these are very talented and creative people with fantastic outfits to share with us, so we thought it would be a great idea!

Every Wednesday we will do a post on some outfits created by one of these members. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase new doll clothing (not owned by the two authors of this blog) and share with you some very beautiful photographs.

So come back to see what we are up to for yourself. And of course, I'll explain this new idea a little more clearly on Wednesday when we feature three dresses created by AGFMB member Heritage4.
