Not Just Dancewear: Isabelle's Tutu

Hola! Another quick post from us in our "Not Just Dancewear" Series,
where we show Isabelle's items mixed and matched
with a variety of pieces from our collection.

The goal of the series is to show that Isabelle's
pieces can be used for everyday wear.

Today we have Liv, aka Marie-Grace, wearing Isabelle's Tutu.

Now a tutu is inherently a dancie item,
so it can be difficult to make it into everyday attire.

However, tutu skirts are actually "a thing" for fashion.
And not just for 2 yr olds.
Or costumes.

The fashion blog, imperfect wonder had a post about them on Jan. 6th.

Lady Moriarty in Paris, another great fashion blog.

And from Cocorosa! Lots of great outfit posts.

Along with skater and scuba skirts and dresses,
the tutu is a fun and flirty piece to add to any wardrobe.

We thought we did okay with the Isabelle Performance Outfit skirt here...

So we plowed forward with another tutu outfit.

Often people combine more flirty items with a tutu skirt --
bustiers, things with lace, ribbons, bows, tulle-accented hairpieces, etc.
Or they go with professional items like blazers, button-down shirts, full sweaters.

We decided to embrace the idea of a warm, fuzzy feeling outfit.

Nothing says warm like waffle-weave thermals and a polar-fleece vest. ;-)

Liv's top and vest are from the ye olde American Girl Wilderness Outfit.

Don't ask us about those pants.
I think we lost them on purpose.

Her snowflake hairpiece is something we made ourselves
out of a Crate and Barrel felt snowflake garland and a hairclip.

Her leggings are from an Arianna Collection
My Pink Planet doll outfit via Amazon.
Called "Tween Delight." Which is a horrid name.
The jacket and top are un-usable, i.e. bad.

But the outfit gave us these nice leggings and
the skirt we used with the Rosette Leotard here...

Liv's booties are from the even ye older
American Girl of Today Snowball Sweater and Leggings Outfit.
1998.

Before there were even computers!
Okay, there were computers, just not the internet shopping paradise
we know and love today.

We saw them on the Clarisse's Closet blog,
and decided to get them for ourselves.

Obviously the rest of the original outfit should really just be burned,
so lucky for us someone on Ebay was just selling the booties.

The Isabelle tutu itself is many lovely layers of tulle,
with a combination of cream and gold colors.

It really just made us think of a lovely bowl of warm oatmeal.
So that is sorta what we themed this outfit around, haha.

Maybe we were just hungry...

We hoped you liked this outfit!
Stay tuned for more posts in our "Not Just Dancewear" series!

Eye Color Comparisons with Saige

Sup peeps.

This is the eye color comparison post -- perhaps not a thrilling piece, but we thought Saige had Marie-Grace's eye color and she really doesn't.
So we took some pics for comparison porpoises.

You could argue that Saige's eye color is closest to Kit's and #27's.
But our Kit's eyes are very dark, much darker than Saige's.

She is currently buried deep in the doll closet.
So here is a pic for comparison that we have taken before.

DW Top Tip: If you want to see any of these shots larger, simply click on one and you will be brought to a larger slideshow that you can click through.

Saige

So in a way, Saige has her own eye color.
Much like Caroline.
And Marie-Grace.
So maybe this is a new AG trend.

Saige and Periwinkle.

Saige and Adanya.

Saige and Liv, aka Marie-Grace.

Thanks for visiting us today!

Up next: Tomorrow we begin to tackle Saige's Sweater Outfit and Her Parade Outfit!

Using Tinsel for Holiday Photos: Part Two

Here we go with Part Two...

Again this idea is from The Spicys Doll Blog

We assembled ourselves in front of the tinsel.

TIP: Click on any of our photos to be brought to a larger version of it in a slideshow in case you want to see our shots enlarged.

Liv changed her outfit for the shots, so we were both wearing our holiday sweaters.

Liv's sweater is also from Buzzybea on Etsy, and her fish pants are from Acorn Soup/Fox and Family on Etsy. They were originally MY fish pants. But I lent them to her. I am so generous and awesome.
Again, Liv's Janes shoes were custom-made for us by A Bee Line on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ABeeLine

Pants and leggings and shoes.

Purple sweater.

Red sweater.

Two good head-shots with our normal lens.

Using Tinsel for Holiday Photos: Part One

Sup peoples, Maples here.

This is a "Maple Insists" post -- I insisted that we have a holiday photo shoot this year. And I insisted I be in it. Despite this new girl being here and everyone being excited about that.
Liv Something is her name.

Nora was taking the photos and said it would be nice if Liv and I were in the shoot together.
Sigh. I guess I'll accept that.

So this year's Holiday Photo Shoot was based on an idea from the The Spicys Doll Blog.

Eventually we managed to come up with these two portrait shots with our new 50mm lens, which you can see them on our Facebook Page as well.

TIP: Click on any of our photos to be brought to a larger version of it in a slideshow in case you want to see our shots enlarged.

More of those 50mm shots will be coming here on the blog, but right now they are on the other computer, in a different state.

So for this post you'll just have to live with the set-up and
the next post will be normal (non-50mm) shots.

Like The Spicys recommend, we slapped some tinsel around a clothes hanger.
Then we packaged-taped that hanger to the closet door that we usually stand in front of.
(Ignore the door handle...)

For the tinsel-prepping Liv is wearing a plaid button-down shirt custom-ordered from Royal Doll Boutique on Etsy. A grey tank top and jeans from Liberty Jane. Liv's Janes shoes were custom-made for us by A Bee Line on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ABeeLine

I, Marvelous Maple, am wearing a tank top and leggings from Sylvie and Bruno on Etsy, and a sweater from Buzzybea on Etsy. My shoes are from American Girl.

For two dolls it probably makes more sense to do two hangers and two sets of tinsel. Or even more tinsel if you wanted full-body shots in front of the tinsel. We were mostly going for head-shots though.

Here I am telling Liv how to arrange the tinsel.

Here she is listening to me like a good girl.

Stay tuned for Part Two...
when we assemble ourselves in front of the tinsel in preparation for the head-shots.

Marie-Grace Part Five: Straight, Smooth Hair

Hola, here is Part Five of our Marie-Grace series.
And this is the last part for today, haha.

We straightened her hair, as you can learn in Part Four.

And then we put her in the MyAG Purple Party Dress (Holiday 2012). And we did her hair in a couple of simple ways.

(For some reason Blogger doesn't want to center our text....buggers.)

TIP: If you want to see any of our pics larger, just click on a photo and you will be brought to a Blogger slideshow of all the pics in a post.

Voila!

Thus ends of whirlwind of M-G posts for today.

Thanks for visiting us and checking out our new Liv Brooks. :-D
