Maple's (Cecile's) Parrot Set

The Week of Maple starts today -- so we'll try and do a couple more posts
with her before the week is over, haha.

Yep, Maple was very insistent that she get that parrot set that was released for Cecile last year. She received it around Christmas from her adoring minions (family members).

When we took these photos (around Christmastime) Maple decided she would show off her workspace - a human-sized desk/office where she has gathered some of her favorite piratey items. (This was before her new Laboratory idea.)

"How can I be a good pirate without a parrot?" she had asked.

So here she is dressed as a pirate, wearing Felicity's hat and jacket, Lemieux Doll Boutique jeggings - and with her parrot by her side. A very trendy look for the runaway this season. ;-)

We took these photos before we bought two completely awesome pirate outfits from See Joan Sew's Beds N Blankies site, see her ultra-beautiful pics below (not our pics):

(Doesn't that pic make you want to run out and buy Marisol?!)

(We have yet to take pics of these sets - even though we received them awhile ago - where does time go so quickly??? That actually gives us an idea for a new Pinterest board for our account.... Hmmmm)

For this photo shoot, Maple was pretty satisfied with the set up and her outfit. She was also very happy with her new parrot. Cecile calls him Cochon, which means pig. It is also kind of an insult - so we're not sure why she calls him that. Why would you call your parrot a bad name as his actual name? Maybe somebody who read all the books can tell us?

Anyway, Maple wasn't about to follow in Cecile footsteps. She named her parrot Capitán Sílex. I think she specifically named it something with accents because she knows I hate taking the time to insert accented letters into these posts. :-/

Maple says people "in the know" will get why she named her pet parrot Capitán Sílex. I don't get it. But it does sound very piratey and simultaneously posh, so I'll play along.

The set comes with the parrot, cage, newspaper, magnifying glass, paper dolls, and school/tutoring book. All very useful things for Maple - she likes to play with old-fashioned objects and carry out various types of quests, hunts, and investigations. :-)

Enjoy the rest of zee pics!

Maple in the Woods

Here is our biggest accomplishment for the month of November!!! Yeah. We've done a lot of other things for the blog -- but not all of them are actually ready to be posted. So we are happy we finally uploaded, sorted, edited, imported, and compiled these photos into an iMovie for Youtube.

And Maple is very proud of her modeling efforts for this "Maple in the Woods" photo shoot. She insisted that she get another round of outdoor photo shoots -- we said she could have one day. So she went for a ride in the car, was carried in the backpack for awhile, and then walked in the woods for the photo shoot.

With these photos we experimented a lot with lighting and photo editing (such as brightness, saturation, and color balance), so you can see how versatile even just one camera can be (our Canon Rebel).

Maple's signature green coat is from Lemieux Doll Boutique, her jeans are from Liberty Jane, and she stole her boots from Lira (Lanie) per usual.

We hope you enjoy this musical photo shoot!!!

Here are some photos outside of the Youtube video; sometimes they look better outside of the vid (which seems to make them more orange than they really are sometimes, haha).

Two Cutie Pie and Me Tops and Extras!

Hola! Today we wanted to highlight two tunic tops we special-ordered from Etsy seller Cutie Pie and Me, part of a larger order.

But first we did want to confirm that Dawn S. has chosen Kirsten as her prize for the Winter 2011 Doll Giveaway. Kirsten hasn't quite made her way to Dawn yet -- but the process is in place, haha. We are a slow operation here in Badger's Wood. :'-(

And in other news, the replacement doll for the Spring 2011 Doll Giveaway/Contest has arrived! Ooo! We'll have a picture of her for you here soon!  Ooooo - the mystery!

Below Mina and Lira are wearing the tunic tops, crafted from the Liberty Jane pattern from Diana Lemieux of Lemieux Doll Boutique of Etsy and Ebay. Mina's skirt is from Etsy seller Sew Urban Designs. Lira's shorts are from a LE couture outfit from Britlyn Madison. The purse and headband you see in the pics were also made by Cutie Pie and Me.

We think these are some pretty cute outfits; we hope you agree!

Some bonus pics of couture outfits from Britlyn Madison that are currently available. Salute to Style is the outfit that Lira's shorts come from (we do have the rest of the outfit to show at some point), and the second outfit is known as Aria's Secret. Both of these looks are handmade and worth the price. Salute is very well made. Also this is a good shop for a variety of shoes, and they do custom couture work in case you have a design idea in your head that you want to become a reality.

Sew Urban Designs has a ton of great outfits and their clothing is excellent. We have several things from them and it is all fantastic.

And last but not least, Cutie Pie and Me is currently offering more tunic tops if you are interested, as well as many other items. Wonderfully made stuff-- we highly recommend this seller. And of course, custom work is welcome. :-)

Lemieux Rock Star Outfit

Besides the pink sweater dress and leggings seen earlier, we also bought this outfit from Etsy seller Lemieux Doll Boutique for Sundari.

We call it the rock star outfit because it sort of reminds us of something Hannah Montana would wear. The fancy gold skinny scarf, the brown silky tunic top with gold highlights, and the tight skinny jeans definitely say "teen pop star" to me.

Diana, Seamstress of Lemieux was nice enough to include these nice gold flats with our purchase. They match the outfit perfectly and make it complete.

Sundari really likes the look and is posing as a pop star at a concert holding the rose someone has thrown onto the stage. (Okay, it's really one of the roses Derek gave to Penny for Valentine's Day- but don't tell Penny we stole it.)

That Sundari just looks gorgeous in everything!

Lemieux Doll Boutique Pink Sweater Dress

Meet Sundari! Oh wait, we just did that....what I am doing again?

Right, so along the lines of needing chic outfits for Sundari we placed an order with Etsy seller Lemieux Doll Boutique.

One of the outfits Penny purchased for her was this pink sweater dress that came with these fly long gray leggings. Ok, so fly is not really a currently hip word- but I like it so I will use it. Though Sundari would probably not approve....

The combo looks fantastic, comfy and warm. Penny knew it would look great with Sundari's skin tone and the pink dress almost perfectly matches her lip color!

Lemieux Doll Boutique Asian Dresses

Hello again! Sorry it has been so long since I last posted- OVER 20 DAYS!

What have I been doing? God only knows, I just get way too caught up in things. Mostly I was procrastinating from doing my schoolwork. I have watched a lot movies and television...but that is not really productive at all. Have I written any of the essay questions I have to answer for school? No....

Well, to get into the writing mood I have decided to post some shtuff onto Blogger. First of all we have some dresses from Etsy seller Lemieux Doll Boutique. They are being modeled by Josefina and Stella. The red dress did not come with the belt and leggings- that was my addition in order to make it look a little different from the purple dress.

Both of the dresses are made from butterfly-patterned Asian-style silk and finished with gold lame around the sleeves and neckline. I have been looking for dresses like this for awhile, and have not been thoroughly satisfied by the similar choices from American Girl. They need to use cool butterfly fabric too.

Lemieux is run by Diana- who recently hit the same bump in the road as many other seamstresses- the new CPSIA lead laws. Or CSPIA or CIPSA..or however those letters go together. This new law would require anyone selling anything appealing to children under 12 to test their products for "bad" substances such as lead.

Obviously a normal at-home seamstress cannot afford to test every doll outfit she makes- so the law was/is endangering these types of home-run businesses. The law has been "postponed" for a year (perhaps with revision in mind???).

So Diana is back to sewing after a break due to the scary new law. SO BUY your homemade goods NOW while you can!!!!

Who knows if in a year I will have anything new to post on the Doll Wardrobe??? Maybe there won't be anything more to buy??? Depressing thoughts....

Lemieux Doll Boutique Jumper and Leggings

Woot! Jess is happy 2009 has finally come. The year of the rat is almost over and now we can look forward to the year of the ox on January 26th! I'm not really sure if there will be a big difference between the rat and the ox. I guess we will find out.

Ok, where was I? Oh, right- this blog about handmade clothes.....Thanks to the half-off sale previously mentioned at muxoriginals on Etsy Penny got us two cropped jackets. Here Jess is modeling the first jacket- red with tiny white polka dots. She is wearing it over a green jumper and white leggings created by Etsy seller Lemieux Doll Boutique. Very professionally made, high-quality stuff. All items together make one fabulous outfit- and a perfect color combination for the holidays. No wonder Jess looks so happy- she is all set for next Christmas!

Lemieux Cherry Hoodie

Stella complained that she hasn't been featured yet among these December 31st postings. Such a whiner. (Don't tell her I said that. She is bigger than me.)

So here we have Stella wearing the Lemieux Doll Boutique cherry hoodie that Penny purchased from their Etsy store. It originally came with a pair of jeans, but here we show it with the Supergirl skirt and some leggings. Stella is ready to go iceskating...and maybe stop whining. Hehe.

Lemieux Doll Boutique

Welcome to our showcase of the Lemieux Doll Boutique- courtesy of Etsy!

This Etsy shop provides some of the nicest clothing I have ever seen. The quality is absolutely excellent. Today we post two outfits purchased from this shop.

Josefina Montoya is pretending to be a modern girl and modeling the purple shiny vest, turtleneck and jeans. Samantha Parkington is also standing in as a modern girl and wearing a swirly white parka and jeans. You can never have too many pairs of jeans!

Just look at the detail work on this parka!
