I Am Famous!!!

Okay, not really all that famous -- I just got my Halloween costume picture posted in the Doll Diaries Halloween Parade Week 4 though! Yay!

(Warning: Long Post, Lots of Pics!)

Check out the link to see the site: http://dolldiaries.com/halloween-parade-week-4/

And here is my fantastically-wonderful pic....

Penny ordered this custom-made Kim Possible costume for me from Cinnamon of Liberty Jane Clothing. It came with the shirt, pants, belt, and shoes. It is totally awesome!

Here is Kim Possible, teenage-super-spy, from the ye olde Disney Channel cartoon (in case you don't know who she is).

Then Penny told us we'd be going to Walt Disney World for Halloween this year! Yay! I am going to wear my Kim Possible costume at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! We will try and get pictures, but it might be difficult because of the crowds at the Magic Kingdom that night. But we will certainly try to have some pictures from WDW to entertain you, even if they aren't me in my awesome costume. ;-)

Here I am modeling my costume with my Trick or Treat bag and Harry Potter Hogwarts sorting hat from Aunt Bees Old Sew N Sew. We will be stopping over in Universal Studios for one day to check out The Wizarding World of Harry Potter while we are in Florida!

Thus starts my campaign to get AG to put a store in Orlando! There should be one in Downtown Disney peoples! How many of our readers go to Disney World and/or Universal Studios? Or visit places near Orlando on a semi-regular basis? Would you like to see an AG store in Orlando too??? We certainly would! Not that AG will listen to us, but we will start our campaign anyways because it is fun!

Comment below with your thoughts on an AG store being in Orlando!

Here I am striking the best Kim Possible pose I can do without having bendable arms and legs. Karate chop! ;-)

And here I fold that pose into my "Trick or Treat: Give Me Candy" pose....

I told Penny I needed a pet naked mole rat to complete my costume. Then she took me to the zoo and showed me what they actually look like in non-Disney-cartoon reality. I then suggested that the naked mole rats stay at the zoo. They are actually a little too gross looking even to post on this blog. Even though this is a Halloween-themed post. Yeah, that gross. We'll stick with animated Rufus...

More fun pics of me as KP....

And more fun pics of our Halloween display items....
the fuzzy pumpkin is from Mint Conspiracy, fyi.

Thanks for visiting us today!

Stay tuned to find out the winner of our Time Warp Photo Contest!
We are still calculating the votes, but we'll pick a winner soon enough. :-)

Maple Insists: Doll Comparison No. 1

So Beast's Belle and Claire asked to see Maple with other dolls. We took the pics and realized it was really too many for one post since we included a lot of new clothing as well, so we will do this in two stages. First we'll show you Me (Mia doll), Elizabeth (MyAG #41), and Maple (MyAG #55) for Beast's Belle.

This is a "Maple Insists" post because she insisted that we all wear braids for the photo shoots and she is sitting next to me as I write this post.... giving me advice.....sigh.

Today we are wearing a variety of clothing from many different sellers. Marvelous Me is wearing a top from Etsy seller L'Atelier de Sitara and pants from the MyAG line. Elizabeth is wearing a halter top and shorts from Etsy seller The Dolly Stand and sandals from Etsy seller Megori Girls. Maple is wearing a Liberty Jane tank top, and a belt and embroidered dragon jeans from All Dolled Up Doll Clothes.

Here are up-close shots of our heads and faces for comparison purposes....

Tops and tops slideshow....

Bottoms and bottoms slideshow

Dragon embroidery and slideshow...
Terrie can embroider pretty much anything smaller than 5"
on doll clothing for you!

Thanks for reading/looking at this long post! Hopefully it was helpful! As you can tell, Marvelous Me has a slightly "greyish" skin tone because I am an older doll. Today they are making the dolls with a richer, peachier tone to their skin. Just FYI.

Stay tuned for Doll Comparison No. 2!

Melody Valerie's Cecily

Hola! Sorry for the lack of posts! "Real life" has been busy and we kind of lost track of what we are supposed to be doing in "blog world."

So don't worry - we will start up new giveaways asap - two outfits for the month of June into July to keep celebrating the 25th Anniversary. Sorry for the delay on that everyone!

Today we have two things: a reminder to please vote for your fav(s) Activity Two photos before Sunday... http://thedollwardrobe.blogspot.com/2011/06/activity-two-photos-vote-today.html

And also a pic and video of Melody Valerie's "Cecily" dress from the Spring 2011 Line. Remember: MVC is supposed to be releasing a Summer Line this year - somewhere around the end of June/beginning of July.

I am modeling the "Cecily" dress as is, then with a chocolate cardi from All Dolled Up Doll Clothes, and then with a ADUDC belt added on to the ensemble. So you get to see how the look changes with each "add-on."

Hope you enjoy the pic and vid!

Thanks for visiting everyone!

MyAG Ruby & Ribbon Outfit and
2010 Holiday Accessories

Me again! Today we continue our holiday posts with our introduction to the MyAG 2010 Holiday Ruby & Ribbon dress and this year's Holiday Accessories. The outfit is being modeled by Noelle Bonacorsi, our MyAG #48 (sorry for showing her again Claire.... wink).

The main piece of attire for Ruby Ribbons is the turtleneck, short-sleeve, red sweater dress with a silver ribbon accent. It is a very pretty dress. Once we saw the AG pic without the silver sweater over it we knew we wanted it. The outfit comes with the silver cropped cardigan you see on Sun Ji in our pictures, as well as the fancy hairband, shiny red shoes, and sparkly fishnet tights.

The 2010 Holiday Accessories set includes a miniaturized Jan Brett fully-illustrated "The Night Before Christmas" book, a giftbox with three sets of earrings (including two pairs of stick-ons for dolls without pierced ears), the furry white clutch purse, and the three-strand pearl bracelet which was a bit difficult to get on Noelle. The crown sitting on the chair is the hair accessory for the Snowflake Ball Gown Sun Ji is wearing. And FYI, the hoop earrings Noelle is wearing come from the accessories giftbox.

Overall, both the Snowflake Ball Gown and Ruby & Ribbon Dress are pretty awesome and it would be difficult to choose just one to get this year. Especially when the accessories set could really be used for either dress. But if you can only get one... the simplest way to pick would be to decide whether you prefer blue or red on your dolls.... :)

Please enjoy our red, white, and blue holiday photos below and stay tuned for tomorrow's post when we will show you two more wintry ensembles never-before-seen.... on this blog.... heehee. One was purchased from AG in 2010, the other in 2009.... can you guess what they are????

MyAG Snowflake Gown and Rebecca's Sideboard

Hello again! We are slow getting this up on zee blog. Today we came home to copious amounts of recently delivered boxes and we spent too much time playing with the new toys.

This is just some of what we pulled out of them....

In amongst those boxes was Sun Ji (pronounced Sun Gee), our new MyAG #4 and Rebecca's sideboard. So we thought we'd feature both of those things in our holiday outfit post today. Hence, we put the very, very cute Sun Ji into the blue Snowflake Gown as you can see below...

Of course you can also see me in my angel costume, as well as Rebecca's sideboard and a few other interesting items. First off, the sideboard is really more the scale of a side console table or something. Not really full adult scale here for a sideboard. But we have wanted it since last year. And it was on sale. And we got 10% off our whole AG order with "the code."

Sitting on the console table... I mean sideboard... is a custom-order hat from Etsy seller Uber Kio which we will be showing you on a doll soon. And you also see Rebecca's nesting doll set which we also showed you last year.

The sideboard has a mirror on the back area which comes with a filmy plastic cover over it--- the mirror is not really that cloudy. We just left the film on so the camera flash didn't bounce back so much. The drawers and doors all work and there is plenty of space in there for dishes or Rebecca's samovar set, etc. etc. Definitely a cool piece of furniture that makes you wish you had an 18" scaled doll house to put it in.

Onto the Snowflake Gown, a 2010 MyAG Holiday outfit. It is blue with silver accents, and can be used for a variety of holidays, events, dances, parties, etc. Nothing about this actually says "winter-only." It comes with silver elbow-length gloves, blue sparkly shoes (which we really love), and a crown on a comb which we could not put in the doll's hair properly to save our lives. It just stuck up into the air. It works better on humans as a mini-tiara... If anyone has a picture of their doll wearing the tiara properly... please let us know where to see your pic.

Despite the crown issues, we highly recommend the 2010 Snowflake Gown-- lovely fabrics, nice design, versatile dress, and it sure does look great on our Sun Ji. We tried it on Lira, Felicity, and Rebecca-- but it looks best with dark-haired dolls....in our humble opinion.

Enjoy some more shots of the dress, its details, and the beautiful Sun Ji...

And just so you know... we didn't purposely name our new #4 after a Chinese footballer.... we just liked the sound of Sun Ji. And even though the internet says Ji is only a boy's Chinese name (like Tommy or Jim).... our human friend Ji is a girl and is called Ji..... because that is, well, her name. So we are going to bend the rules and call our doll a boy's name-- Sun Ji. Sun being her last name and Ji being her first name because Chinese names are in the reverse order (in comparison to the USA at least...)

Stay tuned for more holiday outfit fun coming up tomorrow and the days after that... I think they are called Friday and Saturday. We have a full week of holiday outfits for you... even though it is still three months until Christmas... We are an odd bunch here in Badger's Wood. ;)

MyAG Angel Costume

Hola! Bienvenido a la noche del martes en The Doll Wardrobe blog!
(Yes, that is the best Spanish we can muster over here...wink)

We have received a lot of goodies this week.... A LOT. Including our items from the Pippaloo Etsy shop and the outfit for the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway from Liberty Jane Clothing. And its only Tuesday! We have so much to show you all it is beyond overwhelming. But because we were discussing the evolution of the modern AG Holiday Outfit last week, we thought it would be best to show you our recently purchased MyAG holiday outfits that we have yet to post about.

Next week we will begin our "Colonial Historical Week" by popular demand of our poll. Felicity and Elizabeth should be happy to know that despite their imminent archival people still love the time period and their clothing. So that is next week. I hope you are all looking forward to it! In the future we will see other historical theme weeks appearing in the order of their popularity ranking in the poll.

And also this month we will be doing several costume and Halloweenie posts, probably the week after next. Plus there will be a week coming up soon where we will show you some of the dolly food items we have purchased recently: Food Week 2010!

But to get around to the heart of this post, I am pictured below in the MyAG angel costume which is into its second year at AG. So its days are numbered. Somewhere at the beginning of 2011 we expect it to be leaving us. Of course that is just a guess, so don't tar and feather us if it is still around at this time next year. ;)

I am looking absolutely radiant in this angel costume if I don't say so myself. One of the nice things about it is that it works for both Halloween and holiday dress-up, or even a dance or choir recital. Definitely versatile. We like the sparkly, shimmery qualities to the outfit, the sheer ethereal sleeves, and that it comes with booties and a headband. What we don't like is that it looks like Mom made us this angel costume out of her kitchen hand towel. There is no denying the fact that the dress is made out of sparkly sheared terry cloth, which, though it does have a place in work-out gear, isn't really at-home in a heavenly angel costume.

Whose idea was it to make an angel costume out of sheared terry cloth???
Ah, AG. You are an interesting company.

We accept the dress as it is because well, it is a cool angel costume-- something that The Doll Wardrobe was lacking. And goodness knows I love costumes and anything with wings. ;)

Enjoy zee pictures below and stay tuned for our next post when I am joined by another doll in a MyAG holiday outfit.... Which one will it be and who will be wearing it??? You'll just have to come on back to find out. :)

Another AG Store Exclusive!

It's me! Yes, me! And I am modeling the new AG store exclusive red quilted coat. Yippee! My outfit also consists of blue jeans and a black tank top made by Liberty Jane Clothing, as well as red plaid chucks.

Like my new jacket? I think I look pretty cool in it..... though it is kind of more useful for October than July.... same with that knit set and those jeans from yesterday.... Hmmmm, I guess AG is trying to get us ready for fall as early as possible, eh? ;)

Spring 2010 Doll Giveaway
Handmade Item!

Hopefully by now, you all know that our Spring 2010 Doll Giveaway is currently happening. If you don't know what I am talking about- Click Here! and be sure to enter your name by May 31st, 2010. The lucky winner will be named on June 1st, 2010.

So what is this post about? Well, for (almost) every doll that we give away we also include a handmade item from one of the many talented seamstresses that we talk about on this blog. This time, we decided to commission a unique item for the giveaway. Next time we will probably do some Liberty Jane separates for the Summer 2010 Doll Giveaway.... but for now, we are still working on Spring.....

We found this picture of a dress created by "Another Space" for Ball-Jointed dolls, or BJDs as they are sometimes known, at the Dollmore.net online store.

BJDs usually have some amazingly awesome clothing options available for them all across the Internet. Why? Well they are collected all over the world by women, men, and children--- creating a rather large, diverse market for many types of BJDs and many types of BJD clothing. Hence, BJDs and their clothing can be manufactured by many different high-end companies all over the world-- unlike AG dolls which are trademarked and can only be made by AG. And in turn--- high-end, mass-manufactured clothing for AGs can then only really be made by AG.

So the heart of this issue is: Many people would/could buy a $75.00 outfit for their $400.00 Limited Edition BJD.... but how many people would/could buy a $75.00 doll outfit for their $100.00 AG doll? Probably not as many, and so doll clothing companies (besides AG) don't tend to create a diversity of high-end, AG-sized clothing to rival that of the BJD world. But yet, the Liberty Jane Spring Line sells for that much and more consistently. The answer to all of this (in our opinion) is this: Foster more of an AG adult collector community and one will be able to sell a lot more high-end, expensive clothing for AG dolls. Hmmm... deep thoughts...now my brain hurts....

As much as we'd love to collect BJDs as well as AGs, we can only really afford one dolly obsession at a time. Heehee. So when we found this really cute Another Space BJD dress, we thought: "Hey, why don't we ask someone to make it as an AG dress?" It is our homage to Another Space, à la AG.

So who do we ask to make it??? Etsy seller Doll Closet immediately sprang to mind, so we asked her if she was willing to dive into this unique project. And she was! So she made us two dresses, one to keep and one to giveaway. Our giveaway dress is being modeled today by our Sundari, so you can see what it would look like on Sonali (one of the giveaway choices). And our own dress is being modeled by Marvelous Me, Nora Demington. I get to show you a unique look courtesy of Doll Closet, Liberty Jane, and Etsy seller Pirate Camp....but we will get to that later....

First, here is Sundari in the purple, black and white dress for the giveaway.....

The following pics are of Marvelous Me in my dress and accessories. The hat is a custom-made creation from Etsy seller Pirate Camp, specifically crafted to go with this dress! The "belt" is the black raffia tie from a Liberty Jane package (heehee). The striped leggings are from Etsy seller Doll Closet, currently available in her shop. And the boots are from Liberty Jane. Looking at these pics, I just realized the dress might look pretty cool with a black tee or tank top under it too... hmmm, something fun to think about for future photo shoots..... Anyway, here I am looking awesome!

And our final pics for today: Sundari and I looking contemplative in our fantastic duds! :)

Hope you like this custom-made dress as our Spring 2010 giveaway item! And big "Thank Yous" go out to Doll Closet and Pirate Camp for working with us on these projects!!!!

Another Liberty Jane Denim Mix and Match

Well, if you are like us, you are currently drooling over the new Liberty Jane outfits and wishing they would magically appear on your doorstep in the next five minutes. But alas, this is not possible... so we must be satisfied with the LJC we already have. :)

Today we take three pieces of custom denim- the black jacket, a pair of black jeans, and a blue skirt- and mix and match them with some of our other LJC items. I am wearing the "Copy Cat" tank top over a purple tank top, paired with the blue denim skirt. Since it is purple-ish, has stripes, and involves the "Cat" tank top-- I am naming this outfit "Cheshire Cat." Meanwhile Ginny is wearing the black jacket and jeans with the twinkly starlight tank top. She has named this outfit "Starry, Starry Night." So basically these two outfits are derived from last week's outfits for this version of our LJC Mix and Match game.

Here we are discussing which outfit is better...
"Starry, Starry Night" or "Cheshire Cat".....

Liberty Jane Black Denim Duds

We are going to call today's little creation "Black Cat" as a tribute to Liberty Jane's "Copy Cat." The tank top I am wearing today comes from "Copy Cat," but you can buy it separately in the Liberty Jane online store for $10.00, which is what we did! The rest of my outfit consists of the black cropped denim jacket and black denim skirt custom-ordered from LJ, and the leather boots and necklace from the Summer Camp outfit. Because the "Copy Cat" tank is see-through in parts of the pattern, I am wearing a white tank top underneath it.

As you can see, I am posing by a print we have here in Badger's Wood of a black cat, as a tie-in to our "Black Cat" outfit. Aren't we clever??? The print comes from: http://www.etsy.com/shop/amberalexander. Some of our favorite prints are from this shop!

Enjoy the pics of me!
I mean... me modeling "Black Cat"!

Melody Valerie
The Holly and The Ivy

Yay! We actually created this post before the holidays are over! It's a big accomplishment for us since we are usually six months behind in our posting schedule... but we thought it was important to post this now since these are Christmas-themed items.

Melody Valerie's Christmas Line 2009 is the Holly Coat, which you see modeled on Mary (fka Ruthie), and the Ivy Cape, which I am modeling. Yay me!

As of the moment when I wrote this post,
there were 2 capes and 4 coats left.

The Holly Coat is handcrafted with a red wool exterior, gold cotton-silk lining, and gold-plated buttons. Buttons and button-holes. Sometimes a challenge for doll clothing made from thick fabric, but here they are very easy to use. This coat looks particularly smashing on dark-haired dolls, as you can see with our Mary. Under the coat she is wearing the Melody Valerie SchoolGirl dress which we will be showing you soon in another post. :)

The Ivy Cape is made from a deep green mini-corduroy, with a silver cotton-silk lining. The off-white pearly buttons work with loops to close the cape and again, are very easy to use. I am modeling this cape over the Melody Valerie Wintry Meadows dress which you saw on my sister Ellie earlier this month. My sister and I think, personally, that the cape looks best with long dresses that go to the floor. It really adds something visually to the way the cape drapes.

We have to say this: doll outerwear is not an easy thing to create. The fit has to be just right or it will either look (a) too bulky and your AG will resemble the Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters or (b) too snug and you won't actually be able to put on any clothing underneath the outerwear. And then your doll will feel just a bit chilly. Not every seamstress can master that magical in-between zone where the outerwear fits just right, but Melody Valerie certainly has, as you can see in the photos below.

We think that the MVC Christmas 2009 Line is gorgeous and we hope that Melody Valerie Couture continues to craft outerwear in the future. Thank you MVC for these awesome and unique items!

Love2sew Lion Costume from Etsy

Welcome to the first installment of our
Oktoberfest Costume Extravaganza!

For awhile now we have been squirreling away costumes to showcase in October, and we'll show them to you on four Fridays this month. We begin with Etsy seller Love2sew's Cowardly Lion Costume which we have transformed into our Lion King Simba costume. Not that we did anything to the costume to change it- we just renamed it. ;)

In the pictures below you will see Marvelous Me (Nora Demington) modeling the costume in two ways. First without a full mane of liony hairs and then with the full mane/furry poncho added. Love2sew also included the orange Trick or Treat bag with black kitties on it. Isn't this costume fantastic?!?

As a tribute to the Lion King and Disney, we included pictures of one of Kirsten's kittens wearing the Simba mask Christmas ornament from the Broadway production of the Lion King that we bought when we saw the show. And our final images feature Mickey Mouse and myself hanging out and discussing our plans for our upcoming vacation to Walt Disney World.

Mickey has invited me to his Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. How exciting! Fireworks, a parade, a headless horseman, and all the candy you can carry! I hope it is warmer down in Florida than it is up in Badger's Wood right now....

Anyway, my random ramblings aside...I hope you enjoy the pictures and slideshow of this wonderful Lion Costume! It is so ridiculously cute on me! :)

Come on back tomorrow (Saturday) when we showcase some Etsy items for our "Outfits of the Week" post, and then on Monday we will be posting the next outfit in the lineup for our "Liberty Jane Mondays" with our Mix and Match game.

See you soon everybody!

Doll Closet Bold Patterned Skirt

It's me Nora! I'm making a surprise appearance and stealing some of Stella's new clothes in the process! Yippee! Don't I look like a professional model??

Here is "my" new outfit courtesy of Penny's further purchases from Etsy seller Doll Closet. One would think by now we must have exhausted our inventory of Doll Closet items to show on this blog. Not true! We have so many more items! But after Friday of this week we'll turn to other sellers to make sure my blog stays spicy and yummy with a healthy mix of modern and historical clothing. ;)

So we see a patterned skirt in nice bold colors being modeled by Marvelous Me in the photos below. The colors and forms remind me of my favorite jade and magenta fancy painted horse on Cinderella's Carousel at Disney World. Why I am slyly slipping a mention of Walt Disney World into this post? Well, Penny just told us that we are going to Disney World in October! That's like less than two months away! Wooohooo!

We'll try and post some photos after we come back...that is if we manage to take time away from the awesome "House of Mouse" fun for picture-taking. ;)

But instead of completely hijacking this post for this good Disney news...... we'll encourage you to enjoy our pictures of wonderful handmade Doll Closet clothing!

(p.s. Later today we'll show you some pictures of October #25 in her new home! Stay tuned!!!)

MyOwnLittleWorldToo Speed Racer Hoodie and Leggings

When Penny spotted this Speed Racer hoodie with matching striped leggings in the Etsy shop of MyOwnLittleWorldToo, she knew right away that I would want it.

For the photo shoot, I asked my stepsister Stella if I could borrow her denim skirt and yellow tank top that was purchased from the same store. She was nice enough to let me borrow both things, as well as a pair of lime green chucks! The shoes were purchased from Ebay seller releaserain.

Don't I look fabulous in the photos below? The best part of the Speed Racer hoodie and leggings is that they seem to be children's clothing that has been re-appropriated for dolls! Of course, I could be wrong about that, but still it is a very clever little outfit that is quite spiffy.

Do you think Ludwig the Sock Monkey will mind if I start referring to him as Chim-Chim? He probably wouldn't mind being called Sanpei...but Chim-Chim would probably sound a bit annoying to a sophisticated Sock Monkey like Ludwig.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, of course! On Friday we will announce the winner of the July 2009 Doll Giveaway here at The Doll Wardrobe. Please send us your name if you have not yet done so. And read this post here if you have no idea what I am talking about. ;)

See you soon!
