Mari's Outfit from Seejoansew

Welcome Saturday! It's nice to see you again.....heehee.

Today we are going to show you the third outfit we purchased from the Beds-n-Blankies Sassy Separates Punk Pirate line handcrafted by Seejoansew last year. It was modeled by Marisol on the shop's website, so hence it is known as "Mari's Outfit."

We purchased everything except the long pink sash used a belt on Mari. For our photo shoot, we have Ramona modeling this lovely outfit and she is using the headband as a belt. We added in a generic light pink tank top under the cropped jacket, and the black, strappy boots to complete the outfit. So basically: the cropped jacket, headband/belt, skirt, and tights were all created by Seejoansew. And they create one very fantastic outfit!

We love how the silvery gray of the silky cropped jacket matches the silver highlights on the black fabric used for the skirt and headband. All the little pirate skulls, bones and swords are silver and sparkly.

Hanfu for Ramona

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Today we show you the Hanfu set that was purchased for Ramona from Etsy seller makotokou. Her Etsy shop is known as "Jupiter's Closet"- which is a cool name. We have purchased a couple items from her before, including this kimono, which we posted about back at the dawn of time when we were just introducing our dolls and getting used to taking photos of them. Ah how time flies. Heehee.

Well "Jupiter's Closet" doesn't offer a lot of stuff on a regular basis so when we saw this red and white Hanfu costume we knew it was too cool to pass by. :)

What is Hanfu?

Enter Wikipedia: Han Chinese clothing or Hanfu, and sometimes referred in English sources simply as Silk Robe (especially those worn by the gentry) or Chinese Silk Robe, refers to the historical dress of the Han Chinese people, which was worn for millennia before the conquest by the Manchus and the establishment of the Qing Dynasty in 1644. (In simpler terms, Hanfu is a form of traditional Chinese fashion, using elaborate silk cloth robes, that inspired traditional Korean dress and the Japanese kimono.)

Han Chinese clothing is presently worn only as a part of historical reenactment, festivals, hobby, coming of age/rite of passage ceremonies, ceremonial clothing worn by religious priests, or cultural exercise and can be frequently seen on Chinese television series, films and other forms of media entertainment.

On Wikipedia they show you traditional art which includes Hanfu and some diagrams, but we wanted to share something more interesting than those things. So we went to the Internet to search out cooler pics.

And last but not least, pictures of Ramona wearing her Hanfu set, which included the hair accessory, slippers, corset, jacket, double-layered skirt, and two belts (one of which is very fancy and has the medallion handing from it).

Final Two AGPNY Custom Tees

Eek! It's been almost a week since our last post here! Ack! Where does the time go???

Today we show you Sabrina and Ramona together (I don't think we've ever actually showed them together in a picture before!) modeling the final two custom tees we bought at AGPNY back in January. Sabrina is wearing the "It's Easy Being Green" tee with two birdies and an apple, paired with Liberty Jane jeans. She is also sporting the embroidered beret and clogs from the AG JLY Photographer's Outfit. Meanwhile her sister is dressed in the "Stand Tall" tee shirt with corduroy pants from Etsy seller Doll Closet. Her sneakers are from Ebay- just normal wholesale mass-manufactured sneaks. Ramona's earrings are from the Pretty Party earrings set we purchased at AGPNY.

Liberty Jane Summer Camp Outfit

Here is Ramona hanging out with our little white dog Muddiford and modeling the Liberty Jane Clothing Summer Camp Outfit....which looks remarkably similar to the outfit Demi Lovato wears in the "Camp Rock" Disney movie. ;)

Ramona first models the outfit as it arrives, with its red tunic shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, and brown suede boots. As an nice little extra you also get the long beaded necklace to accent the duds. After those initial pictures below, you then see the Summer Camp outfit with the "Breakout Performance" painted suede jacket. In other words, the last two photos represent our first attempt at our Liberty Jane Mix and Match Game. What do you guys think?

Extra Post: Some of the New 2009 JLY outfits from AG

Are you wondering what some of the new 2009 JLY outfits look like in real life photos? Well here is a slideshow of some of our pics. They aren't fantastic...but hopefully they are slightly informative.... :)

I am modeling the Fancy Flower outfit in some pictures and the Yoga Gear in others. Our new #44 is wearing the Dancing Star outfit and Ramona is sporting the Frosty Fun outfit. So you get to see some more photos of the new dolls below. Ramona is wearing the black and white Liberty Jane skirt again. And last but not least, our Ruthie/Jess is modeling the Wilderness outfit. These are some of the new JLY outfits we got this year. We grabbed the holiday dresses as early as possible before anything sells out. :)

We can do other slideshows like this if you guys are interested in them. Though they aren't really showcasing handmade doll clothing, we can occasionally show the AG outfits. :)

p.s. FYI -- The little shiny pieces on the Dancing Star outfit are just glued on and tend to fall off around the house. They make your carpets twinkly. ;)

SewQt School Outfit and Ramona J. Dove

Ramona just started at a new school as a freshman this year. She attends the same private high school that Stella and Sundari go to, and because Stella and Sundari just moved to Badger's Wood all three girls are "new" students. So even though Ramona is a year younger, the three girls have a lot in common.

Ramona and her younger sister Sabrina live a couple blocks away from our house and Derek picks them up on his way to drop Stella and the rest of us off at the school. Sabrina goes to school with Ellie and I, but she is in a higher grade. We don't have school buses here in Badger's Wood; it's more of an "every man for himself" type of town. So Derek gets the privilege of hauling all of us to school every weekday morning. ;)

But I'm getting off topic now.... back to handmade doll clothing! So in the pictures below you will see Ramona modeling her new school uniform from Etsy seller SewQT. We received the off-white long-sleeve turtleneck shirt which is so soft and comfy, as well as the chic plaid skirt and matching bag. The boots are from Liberty Jane Clothing.

As you can see, Ramona looks awfully cute in her new duds!

So where's Sabrina?

Some of you may be wondering what happened with the wonky-eyed #40 we received that was destined to be Sabrina M. Dove. Well, she will be returned to AG (sorry Quinlyn- *wink*) and a new #40 is now on her way to Badger's Wood.

Can everybody cross their fingers for us so this new #40 doesn't have any issues?

Penny has been plotting and planning ways to make Sabrina look different than our Jess doll. And she has come up with some pretty interesting ideas: a possible eye swap and maybe a re-wigging. Or maybe just a wig we can put over her current wig. Or maybe......well, you get the idea. Many plans, but of course we need a satisfactory doll to start off with.

So stay tuned for tomorrow's post on "Outfits of the Week"- when we will bring your attention to high-quality handmade doll clothing that you can't find on Ebay nor on Etsy.... oooooo, mysterious! Okay, not that mysterious, but still completely awesome. :)

New Dolls! Woo hoo! --- #44, Ivy and (#40)

Finally, the UPS man came today with the dolls Penny had ordered last week! So exciting!

Unfortunately, we are not going to keep the #40 because her eyes were a little too strange for Penny- one being a radically different shape than the other and they gaze in two different directions. Oh well. We can't win them all, and the Jess face mold eyes are never exactly the same size and shape from left to right eye. :(

Penny is considering exchanging her for another #40, but then she also realized once we took some pictures for you that #40 looks a lot like Jess (our Ruthie). Their hair parts on the same side, and the #40's hair was a lot longer than we thought it would be. Maybe if we get a new #40 with good eyes we will give her a haircut.

But I'll stop rambling and give you quick explanations of what you see below.

#44 is yet un-named- but her hair is gorgeous and we are definitely keeping her. Though she probably won't be modeling too many outfits in order to keep her hair nice. For names, we were thinking about Veronica, or Autumn, or Gabriella, or maybe Heidi, or......? Any suggestions for us? She is meant to be one of Stella's friends from her old school in her old town- so she'd be around 15/16 years old.

Meanwhile, our Ivy immediately took off her 1970s duds, ran around naked for a little while, and then grabbed the nearest Liberty Jane items she could find for the photo shoot. She didn't even bother putting on shoes! So I guess this would also qualify as a sneak peek to our Liberty Jane items. ;) Her name is Ramona J. Dove and she attends the private school with Stella and Sundari, making her around 14/15. She is a freshman.

And the #40, which will be returned, was meant to be Sabrina M. Dove- Ramona's younger sister. We will have to wait and see if we want a new #40 to play that role. Or perhaps a #40 or #30 with an eye swap to some other color besides brown??? Who knows right now...but we will keep you updated.
