Naya's Designs Party Dress for Josefina

Well this dress should really be showcased during the holiday season in the wintertime, for it is really the type of garment that Josefina might wear for Christmas or a holiday like that. But we haven't posted a Josefina outfit in a long, long, looooong time--- so we wanted to showcase her again.

Our Josefina is a Pre-Mattel cutie that is a bit chubby in the arms and mid-section. So she can't easily wear many of the outfits in the Mattel JLY line. Truth be told, she doesn't even fit into Mattel shoes made for Josefina. Sad, I know. But luckily, most of the Mattel AG Josefina outfits fit her, and it is nice that designers like The Dollies Dressmaker and Naya's Designs make their Josefina dresses in a size that fits our girl.

So today we show you this dress from Etsy seller Naya's Designs made in a beautiful striped fabric and trimmed with a lovely green ribbon. This dress is based on the AG pattern for Josefina's Christmas Dress (which is also striped). Yes, we already own that dress, purchased back at the dawn of time when it was first released- but this Naya's Designs dress is awesome too, so we bought it as well. And FYI, the necklace is the red coral piece we commissioned from Melody Valerie Couture, several moons ago. :)

Enjoy the pictures!

We haven't talked about Naya's Designs in awhile-- so we wanted to let you know that she currently has 4 pages of rad AG-sized clothing in her Etsy shop. Here is a quick little slideshow to show you some of what she is offering at the moment....

And remember----- The Spring 2010 Doll Giveaway winner will be announced on Tuesday, June 1st--- so be sure to enter your name in the contest before then!!!

Dollies Dressmaker Josefina Skirt and Camisa

If you haven't guessed it by now, Penny's favorite color is blue. If a doll outfit is being offered in blue it is really only a matter of time before she breaks down and buys it. :)

So for today you won't be all too surprised to find our Josefina modeling another blue skirt paired with a lovely camisa with lace and flower details. The skirt is made of a fascinating floral, banded, fancy fabric that is quite eye-catching.

This outfit is courtesy of The Dollies' Dressmaker website where you will find outfits created for almost every type of American Girl doll that you could possibly own- from Felicity to a Modern Girl of Today. Yes, Kaya is left out- but she probably wouldn't have had a very robust wardrobe as a Nez Perce girl.

What's set up for next week? Three modern outfits! Not sure which ones we will show you and on which days- but we have a bunch of them lined up to showcase. So stay tuned for next week's outfits- and don't forget to enter into the "Harry Potter" Hogwarts uniform giveaway if you haven't done so already!

Terristouch Josefina Skirt and Camisa- Red, White and Blue

Tired of your Josefina wearing the same old clothing? Frustrated with waiting each year for a new American Girl Josefina outfit to be released? Endlessly hoping that she is not forgotten with the new AG releases?

Well take matters into your own hands and buy handmade! Over at Terri's Touch you can find many wonderful outfits for your Josefina.

Recently, we bought this flattering camisa and skirt from Terri- one of her smart-looking interpretations of American Girl's Josefina Feast Outfit. I just love the red braided belt and ribbon accents against the deep blue floral fabric. Josefina's favorite part is the ruffles around the neck and sleeves. Overall it is a very lovely ensemble! A+++ for Etsy seller Terristouch's Josefina outfits!

Stay tuned for our next showcase of Josefina duds on Friday from The Dollies Dressmaker. See you soon!

Terristouch Josefina Skirt and Camisa- Red, White and Gold

Hola everyone! We hope your August has been going well so far! I can't believe our summer vacation is half-way over and we'll have to go back to school in three weeks. Poo!

Oh well- guess I'll just have to float around in the swimming pool for the next 21 days and try to forget that I have to go back eventually. Heehee.

This week Nora Demington - that's me! - will be showing you some items we purchased for Josefina. Etsy seller Terri's Touch is one of our favorite stops when browsing through the items available on Etsy for American Girl doll clothing and recently Terri started creating a whole bunch of very interesting items for Josefina. So we just had to grab a couple outfits for our Josefina here in Badger's Wood.

In our pictures below, you will see a wonderful embroidered camisa, a golden skirt, red striped belt and a handful of flowers that all came with this outfit from Terri's Touch. The quality is simply fantastic, the colors are bold and warm, and the details are very charming. Want one for your own Josefina?- Please click here to check it out for yourself in Terri's shop.

In addition to this outfit, there are a variety of options available for you at Terri's Touch: Click here to view what is available for the time periods of Felicity and Josefina, grouped under one section of Terri's shop. You will find options for your Josefina doll in both the traditional Hispanic style and a Regency period style.

On Wednesday I'll show you another Josefina outfit from Terri's Touch and then on Friday one from The Dollies' Dressmaker website.

Doesn't this outfit just look wonderful on our Josefina? So pretty!

Guest Review: Ashley's Attic Girl & Doll Dresses

These adorable dresses were made by Cheri at Ashley's Attic. She specializes in making historical dresses for girls and matching ones for their dolls. To get ready for Cinco de Mayo we ordered a Josefina style dress. We even have an authentic southwest background for our photo shoot.

There is an authentic camisa with a long flowing skirt, a sash completes this southwest look.

Emily really wanted to model the dress, she thinks she looks the most like her human.

To find Cheri follow the link and scroll down until you see ads for Ashley's Attic. We can't wait to order more outfits to match our humans. Happy Cinco de Mayo this week!

The Nimble Thimble White Day Dress

As you can see in the previous post, Penny is introducing us to a new Etsy shop for doll clothing. Well, new to us. Not new in general.

Welcome to the posting for the Etsy shop TheNimbleThimble's white Regency period day dress. Yes, it was purchased as an intended gift for our own Regency Elinor Dashwood custom doll that we have yet to create. However, Josefina saw the dress come out of the package and snapped it away from us. She likes how the stark white fabric looks with her skin tone and dark black hair. She is right- it does look stunning. The pictures don't do the dress justice. Simple, yet elegant, with a delicate striping effect. Also included was the white ribbon waist-sash.

Josefina has definitely bulked up her wardrobe in these past few months. I guess Penny will have to give someone else a chance at getting some new clothing, or some of the other girls might get jealous. Not me, of course- I never get jealous. All I'm saying is it would be nice to see some packages for me come into this house. Just a few. Maybe somewhere between 12-24 new outfits? Is that too much to ask for? Heehee.

p.s. We are holding off on publishing the black Regency gown until we actually get the Elinor Dashwood doll (an AG Felicity with brown eyes instead of green). That way you all have something to look forward to and she does get to model some of her own clothing!

Bethg Josefina outfit

Are you missing something? Perhaps clothing for your Josefina? Visit the Ebay store bethg456573vr...you won't be disappointed!

Penny found this Ebay store during a random search for Josefina handmade clothing. There are a lot of outfits that seem to rotate in and out of this store-and many of them are for Josefina!

What caught Penny's eye for this outfit were two main things- a) it had a green skirt and green is not often a color used in Josefina clothing and b) some lovely long pantaloons were included with the outfit! Also included were a blouse and sash.

Josefina stood still long enough for us to snap some photos of her wearing this outfit. She wouldn't put up with getting her hair done because she wanted to try on the next dress. However, the photos still give you a good idea of the beauty of the outfit. This seamstress used some really sophisticated detailing on the sleeves and the pantaloons. Another great addition to the collection!

Beckys_cottage Josefina Outfit 2

As stated in previous posts, this year has been dedicated to expanding the sections of our collection which are lacking. This includes handmade goods for our friend Josefina. Her family is fairly wealthy, so it makes sense that she has a larger wardrobe.

This outfit, being modeled by Jess below in a slideshow, is the second purchase from Ebay shop Beckys_cottage. A truly lucky lucky find. It includes a head-scarf, skirt, blouse, sash, and necklace- again 5 pieces like the other Beckys_cottage outfit. Very generous for the price. Craftsmanship is superb and this seamstress has a real gift for Josefina clothing. Sure we could spend 6 months searching for retired Josefina outfits on Ebay- or spend 20 minutes hunting and find a treasure trove of great handmade Josefina clothing! So happy we found Becky's Cottage!

Dollies' Dressmaker Josefina Dress

Ok, let's try to keep this steamroller rolling along and push forward with another Josefina outfit!

This one comes from The Dollies' Dressmaker website and may be one of a kind. I don't think they had a lot of this fabric available for dresses and had made some dresses for Felicity out of it as well. The fringed shawl also came with the dress. It is a simple regency period fashion design with a New Mexican twist and is quite flattering.

Stella is modeling the dress for us in another Photobucket slideshow and she looks ready to go to a fiesta in the village. Maybe she could stand in for one of Josefina's sisters? Let's grab that basket of tamales and head off to the Aragon house!

Beckys_cottage Josefina Outfit 1

March is almost gone! Boy, I'm really lax at doing these blog posts this month. Sorry for the lack of updates. Schoolwork has been taking up most of my free time.

Here in Badger's Wood, though we haven't been keeping our blog up to date, we have certainly been getting more dolly outfits. This month one of our goals was to acquire more outfits for Josefina. She owns a lot of the American Girl outfits, but as far as handmade items her wardrobe was rather slim.

In order to quest for more Josefina outfits we hit Ebay with the force of a hurricane. We were able to find some very nice things. Who knew there were so many AG seamstresses on Ebay?

Our first finds were at beckys_cottage at Ebay- we got two outfits from this shop. The first outfit includes a dress, a leather vest, a blue jacket, a wrap, and a necklace. Five pieces for a great price! And they are really gorgeous, with truly impressive craftsmanship.

Sundari is modeling the outfit this time around because Josefina was too busy trying on the other clothing we got her. She will appear later in the blog once she stands still long enough for us to take photos.

Photobucket has come up with a new "slideshow" feature to post photos on your blog. So we thought instead of scrolling for 5 miles down our blog to see all the photos, we might use it occasionally when we have a lot of photos for a post. Plus our Blogger account is quickly filling up our allotted space on the Blogger servers because of all our photos. Maybe this will help?

Lemieux Doll Boutique Asian Dresses

Hello again! Sorry it has been so long since I last posted- OVER 20 DAYS!

What have I been doing? God only knows, I just get way too caught up in things. Mostly I was procrastinating from doing my schoolwork. I have watched a lot movies and television...but that is not really productive at all. Have I written any of the essay questions I have to answer for school? No....

Well, to get into the writing mood I have decided to post some shtuff onto Blogger. First of all we have some dresses from Etsy seller Lemieux Doll Boutique. They are being modeled by Josefina and Stella. The red dress did not come with the belt and leggings- that was my addition in order to make it look a little different from the purple dress.

Both of the dresses are made from butterfly-patterned Asian-style silk and finished with gold lame around the sleeves and neckline. I have been looking for dresses like this for awhile, and have not been thoroughly satisfied by the similar choices from American Girl. They need to use cool butterfly fabric too.

Lemieux is run by Diana- who recently hit the same bump in the road as many other seamstresses- the new CPSIA lead laws. Or CSPIA or CIPSA..or however those letters go together. This new law would require anyone selling anything appealing to children under 12 to test their products for "bad" substances such as lead.

Obviously a normal at-home seamstress cannot afford to test every doll outfit she makes- so the law was/is endangering these types of home-run businesses. The law has been "postponed" for a year (perhaps with revision in mind???).

So Diana is back to sewing after a break due to the scary new law. SO BUY your homemade goods NOW while you can!!!!

Who knows if in a year I will have anything new to post on the Doll Wardrobe??? Maybe there won't be anything more to buy??? Depressing thoughts....

Dollies' Dressmaker Josefina Outfit

What can I say about perfection? It is spelled "The Dollies' Dressmaker!"

Every item that we purchase from this website is better than the last. Recently, we have been wondering... "Where did all the AG clothing for Josefina go?" And since we actually have Josefina here with us in our fine little house in Badger's Wood, this question is particularly pertinent.

It just so happens that many of the awesome AG outfits for JoJo - (as I nicknamed her- though she doesn't really like it) - have been retired... gone the way of the dodo. So she is down to six outfits, her meet outfit (i.e. what she came in), and a night shift on the AG website. Four of the outfits are for fancy occasions. So what does she wear for her day-to-day activities?

Answer: Dollies' Dressmaker clothing! We missed the era of AG Limited Edition clothing and things that were out for only 2 years...so we must go to The Dollies' Dressmaker to boost poor JoJo's wardrobe.

So here is one purchase to help her out. Luckily we grabbed one of these nice shirt and skirt combos before they were sold out. It also comes with this nice green ribbon for a belt.

You may be wondering what our lovely JoJo is holding...it is a tea kettle from Williams-Sonoma. (Ok, it is really a Christmas tree ornament. But it is a perfect dollie-sized object.) Keep your eyes peeled for more copper items like this kettle in my blog- they should make their appearances in future postings.
