Giveaway Ramblings and Hints for Holiday Shopping

Tada! We finally shipped the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway prize package! Hurrah!

Included in the box was: MyAG #41 (Emma Grace), the Star Hoodie JLY Meet outfit she came in, the new MyAG meet outfit, the Liberty Jane grey jeans and purple logo shirt, a Fun with your Doll book, some fun hair ribbons, the holiday doll-sized teddy bear in a little reusable box, and an Innerstar U charm necklace with Innerstar U virtual world online access! Woot! We even included three charms for the necklace!

Aren’t we great?! *Pats selves on backs.

So we decided today that doing giveaways is fun and they would be a great way to celebrate American Girl’s 25th Anniversary next year. Everyone is getting really excited about what is in store for us next year. What does AG have planned? New dolls? New items? Bringing dolls out of the archives? What? What? What?!

Now it is fun to be hopeful, but AG does weird things occasionally (all the time) and we might not see the big fanfare that everyone is expecting. And this would make us sad. :-( 

Hence, we decided to make our own fanfare. For all twelve months of 2011 we will be doing little giveaways: a tee shirt, an activity kit, a doll tee and tote, etc. etc.- one per month. And these will be in addition to our three seasonal doll giveaways. So 15 giveaways in total in 2011!

Not to be annoying, but if you are a seamstress/shop owner and would like to donate an item for our 25th Anniversary Giveaways, please let us know in the comments below! We have several things for the giveaways already, but they are not all handmade items. So feel free to speak up if you want to be featured in these giveaways. :-)

Well it is typically the Monday before the week of Christmas that everyone starts panicking that they haven’t bought gifts yet. 12 Days left! Ahhhhhh!

So today we decided to help you out a little. Perhaps you are looking for a gift for your doll or the doll lover in your family, but you aren’t sure what to get? This week we wanted to just point out some fun stuff that is currently available on Etsy (as of me writing these posts) that might make great gifts! So everyday we will point out some items- click on the images to go to the listings.

First... Beach chair. It's cold outside. The beach chair reminds us of warmer days. Haha. We have one of these in red for Katie, Connie and Noelle... still haven't blogged about it because we are slow-- but it is really fun and it can come in a variety of colors. And it might be nice for Kanani if you plan on getting her.

A trundle bed with all the bedding trimmings... we don't have one of these, but it looks awesome and very practical...

Liberty Jane Outfit for the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway!

Hola! Well now that I can take a break from doing historical research (check out yesterday's post for the final Colonial Week update).... I might be able to get some more posts out before Halloween. (Maybe... we sure hope so... we took a lot of pics for this week...)

Today we have Sun Ji and Ivy arriving early at our annual Halloween party. They have brought some tasty treats and decorated baggies to share with everyone. Sun Ji is our new MyAG #4, as you probably remember.... and Ivy is one of the dolls being offered in the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway here at The Doll Wardrobe.

This is the Ivy doll that is offered in the giveaway, not our Ramona. We wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to see the giveaway Ivy again. She is wearing the jeans and shirt, custom-made by Liberty Jane Clothing, for the giveaway. Thanks for donating these items Cinnamon!!!

Ivy, MyAG #41, or Kirsten (depending on who the winner chooses) will come with this purple top and these grey jeans. Cinnamon chose a beautiful bold fabric for the shirt (it is awesome!!!) and added on the LJC logo.

Meanwhile Sun Ji is wearing our duplicate pair of grey jeans, and the top, jacket and necklace from "Shinjuku Starlet"-- one of the Spring/Summer outfits from Liberty Jane. We own all eight outfits now... but we have only shown you the first four here on the blog. We are very slow.... but you guys already knew that. ;-)

And p.s.--- Sun Ji and Ivy's sandals are handmade by Etsy seller BetsyStyle. Betsy currently has 15 different pairs of sandals available in her store right now, including Halloween and Christmas-themed pairs. They are really affordable and she will put straps on the back of them to help keep them on your dolls' feet if you want. Her shop also offers a lot of very pretty dresses. Betsy is a super-cool seller and we highly recommend buying from her!

So FYI... the new Fall/Winter Liberty Jane Clothing line will start to appear as Ebay auctions next week, probably after Halloween. And their Fall-o-ween Youtube and Facebook design contest is currently happening. That ends on October 31st. If you don't get the Liberty Jane newsletter, we recommend you sign up for it. It tells you about their outfits, contests, patterns, and clothing available from their partners.

Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway: Enter Here!

Despite this being a sad week for AG fans, there are two rays of hope at the end of the tunnel.

1) Maybe the archival of Felicity and Elizabeth means we will get more new historical dolls, like we got Rebecca after Sam was archived.

And 2) This is the official announcement of the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway here at The Doll Wardrobe blog. Yay!

One lucky winner will be able to choose one of three dolls--- Kirsten Larson, Just Like You #41 or Ivy Ling! The doll will come brand-new, in-box, with her meet outfit and book, and an extra outfit (which we will discuss more in other posts). (For free!)

So now here are the important details: You must be 18 years old or older to enter this giveaway. If you are younger than that please have someone 18 years old or older, like a parent or guardian, enter herself/himself. One entry per person please, but you can have other family members enter as well.

To enter, please write your full name and your email address as a comment to this post. It will not be published and only Penny will be able to see it. Winners will be drawn out of a hat, i.e. randomly picked. If you win, she will email that address to notify you and ask for your doll choice (from the three pictured in this post), and your shipping address.

Felicity and Grey Jeans

Random title eh? Yeah, we are in a weird mood today. Like most of our readers, we are sad to see Felicity and Elizabeth go. For the past several years we were kind of wishing their collection had the substance it truly deserved. We hadn't bought a lot of the available things because they just weren't what they "should be." But alas, we are now sucked into the archival frenzy.

We don't like having collecting regrets--- that "could have, should have, would have" feeling when you miss an Ebay auction or a doll's item is retired while you weren't paying attention.

So we saw this:

... and said "Oh the Heck with it, let's just ride this train to Crazy Town." So we ordered these:




Yes, we are total AG suckers. What can we say? We are easily brainwashed by the "Buy Now or Lose Your Chance!" propaganda. :(

All of this new colonial stuff is going to go to our Mary Royall, who is more than happy to receive new prezzies. We kind of feel too depressed to keep Felicity and Elizabeth as colonial characters, reminding us of yet another archival. So we think we'll do something creative with them to make this experience more fun and exciting. We'll let you know what we come up with. ;)

Now onto the grey jeans part of the title: below we have pictures of two pairs of grey jeans we are shipping to Cinnamon of Liberty Jane Clothing to make into dolly skinny jeans. One pair of the dolly pants will be given away with the Fall 2010 Doll Giveaway. So we wanted to know which jeans you guys would prefer to see included with the giveaway. The pictures aren't the best, as we don't have a humanoid model for them, so they are resting on zee chair. But try to imagine these as dolly jeans, heehee.
