Not Just Dancewear:
Isabelle's Rosette Leotard

Hola! Sorry for long-time-no-postiness.
January got bizzz-eee.

Today we start a series (hopefully) of posts on
Isabelle's clothing collection.

While there are a lot of pics out there in the world of her items
worn in dance outfits, we wanted to mix them with everyday items
to make everyday-ish outfits.

The type of outfits you might wear to school, a party, or to the mall.

So today we paired Isabelle's Rosette Leotard with
a vest by Etsy seller Vintique Designs,
and a skirt from the Arianna Collection (which is a mass-produced brand).

Columbia Easton is modeling the look for us,
wearing a MyAG #26's wig that we relaxed in boiling water.

Her shoes are Ebay purchase/mass-produced shoes,
which we got through Liberty Jane.

Her hair bow is a human one from Icing.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stay tuned for more posts in the
"Not Just Dancewear" Series!

Exciting Etsy Pattern Shop:
Thimbles and Acorns!

Hola!

Today we feature an Etsy Shop:
Thimbles and Acorns!
This designer sells doll clothing patterns, supplies, and occasionally outfits.
She is also starting up a newsletter soon, so be sure to sign up for it.

Their selection of historical clothing patterns is awe-inspiring and many patterns are collaborations with other designers, such as Keepers Dolly Duds, Vintique Designs, and Flossie Potter.

They also offer instant download PDFs for many patterns.

Please check out Thimbles and Acorns today!

We started the DW blog almost 5 years ago, and after 5 years of plugging handmade clothing and accessories, sometimes we assume that people know that Etsy is full of amazing items for American Girl dolls.

But every year, even every month, more and more girls, families, and collectors are discovering the awesome world of AG -- so we need to stay on top of our game!!!

Please check out Thimbles and Acorns today!

If you would like us to do an "Exciting Etsy Shop" post on your boutique for American Girl doll handmade clothing and/or accessories, please comment below with a link to your shop or email us at nora.demington@gmail.com with your shop information.

We will also work with non-Etsy shops if you have an Ebay storefront or specific website. :-)

More Regency Attire for Caroline:
Vintique Designs

Hola! Today we have a blue dress from Vintique Designs paired with Caroline's coral spencer jacket and then a olive green pelisse, also handcrafted by Vintique.

While we were PicMonkeying these pics, we noticed they are offering Halloween editing tools at PicMonkey. So far we have posted two of our Halloweenie creations over at our Facebook page. People either hate 'em or love 'em. Haha.

Below is Lottie/Caroline in the blue dress.
This is based on one seen on Emma Thompson in Sense and Sensibility.

Lottie is looking particularly pensive, and she should have a fichu like Emma/Elinor, but since we were adding jackets we skipped that process.

Here she is with the coral jacket.

And then the olive green pelisse.

And more shots....

Thanks for visiting us today!

Question for You Guys:

What other AG items are you interested in us reviewing?

The holiday dresses?
Reindeer pajamas?
Something more from Caroline's collection?
Anything???

We have Inkpot and the Sugar and Spice baking set to review.

But we are wondering what you guys want reviewed after those two things.

Please feel free to tell us in the comments below or on Facebook!

Fashion Design Challenge Example #1

So we had some questions from y'alls about what exactly an "idea" image is and an "in-progress" image is for the Fashion Design Challenge.

We thought we'd post some examples for y'alls to help clarify the issue.

Maple wanted a Dr. Watson costume -- basically a man's suit but for girls.

We asked Linda over at Vintique Designs to help us with this project,
i.e. make it for us. Haha.

So we sent her some "idea" images:

Maple wanted this human suit...

Using this Shibuya jacket pattern...

In grey suiting fabric (from Banana Republic dress pants)

We asked for the jacket, two vests, a pair of pants, and a halter tank blouse thingy like from the Shibuya outfit.

Watson sports vests on a regular basis

So Linda started working, and sent us some "in-progress" images:

Here is the jacket in the middle of being crafted....

Big thanks to Linda for letting us use her pics.

And here is the finished product:

We should post more shots of this finished outfit, but hopefully you get the idea.

Let us know if you have any questions.

We'll post a couple more examples of these "idea" and "in-progress" shots soon.

Thanks for visiting us today!
