Wigs!

Awhile back someone asked us to compile all of our wig images in one place.
Which, frankly, is a great idea!
Tada!
1600 months later, here ya go!

So here you will find our dolls wearing wigs.
Yeah, not a complex idea going on here, heehee.

We'll be adding more images as we find them in our files
and as we take them.

(P.S. If you are in the market for doll wigs, and want to buy
one [or seventeen] for your AG -- go for size 10-11.)

Joanie, our doll without hair with medium-skin Sonali mold
wearing Saige's wig with a shifted side-part.

Top from Fox and Family.
Necklace from 2 Sisters Sew Crafty.

wearing a 'dark brown' (black really) Ruby Red Galleria long, wavy, parting wig.

Tank top and skirt from Liberty Jane Clothing.

Joanie, our doll without hair in medium-skin Sonali mold
wearing a dark auburn Ruby Red Galleria curly, parting wig.

We do not like this RRG style wig as much as the long, wavy, parting wig above.
You can see more of the wig cap at the part with this design.
Boo. :-(

The super-dark color also helps hide evidence of the wig cap.
But overall, the construction of the wig below is just better.

wearing a Blythe 'Blonde Princess Curly Long Wig.'

Just fyi, they are a bit too big for AGs, but we make them work. ;-)

Outfit is the MyAG Meet Outfit at the time we bought her.
Hat from Yarn Twisted.

Same wig pulled up into pigtails.

Our boy doll without hair - Archie.
Asian mold with brown eyes, light skin.
Our only AG Boy Doll -- wearing a 'Johnny' wig from Monique.
Color: Medium Auburn.

Marisol is Pippaloo's doll.
And she just has her normal wig on, haha. :-)

Archie's tank top and plaid shirt are from Liberty Jane Clothing.

Marie-Grace doll, our Liv Brooks, without her pin-curls and with straightened hair.
Not a new wig, but a customized wig.
So that counts, right???

To see how we did this go to these posts:

Liv is wearing a MyAG holiday dress from 2012.

Couple more shots of Liv with her customized wig.

Sweater from Buzzy Bea.

Plaid shirt from Royal Doll Boutique.
Grey tank top from Liberty Jane Clothing.

Our Sabrina, a customized blue-eyed MyAG #40, wearing a Blythe wig,
"Long Silky Dark Brown Curly Wig with Bangs."

Purchased from shopoholican on Etsy, who doesn't exist anymore --
but you can find Blythe wigs online from a variety of shops.

Just fyi, they are a bit too big for AGs, but we make them work. ;-)

Hat and romper from AG.

Again, we'll be adding more images as we find them in our files
and as we take them.

Any Questions???

Feel free to ask us as a comment on this page or in
an email to nora.demington@gmail.com.

First Question:

Do you know the best places to buy wigs for american girl dolls?

Ruby Red Galleria makes pretty good wigs.

Check under their listings for 18" play dolls.

Monique has decent wigs, some better than others.

Again, you'll be looking for size 10-11 wigs.

We have heard good things about Kemper and Bavas.

American Girl wigs are made out of Kanekalon fiber, so looking
for doll wigs made out of Kanekalon may help you.

Also modacrylic fiber doll wigs are usually pretty nice.

If anyone else has suggestions for go-to shops for AG-size doll wigs -- please comment below or email us at nora.demington@gmail.com so we can share that info. :-)

While the variety isn't that great, Prilly Charmin has super great prices on wigs. These are name brand wigs that are on close out.

Your Columbia is gorgeous! I think that Saige is just a stunning doll... and I love the variety in them. I think my Saige, Tennyson, might be getting a sidepart. Do you trim the wig to make it even?

i personally love kemper. i get all my boy wigs from there because they are inexpensive and ive never had a problem with their wigs. they have 7 different boy wigs all under 15 dollars. so i would highly recommend kemper to anyone looking to make a man out of your american girl. i got the cassidy wig for my little man becuase the bangs are a bit longer than the bebe 113 from monique and it was only 8 dollars including shipping

How do you shift a parting? I have an aging #25 that is in desperate need of a re-part, her part is literally split in two (hard to explain, sorry) and she looks older than she really is. I only need to shift it about .5"!! I need help...

Hi! I want to re wig one of my dolls and the wig I like is 11-12 size. They have a picture of a american girl doll "modeling" it so will it still fit? thanks :)

Anonymous- I've personally never rewigged a doll, but my friend used a 11-12 size, and it worked fine.

Emmy-They didn't physically move the part, the moved the whole wig. So instead of having the wig in the middle, they moved the wig so that the part is to one side, etc.

Shifting the part means taking off the wig and moving it slightly so the part is in a different spot. Therefore shifting the part won't help you. I suggest completely rewigging your doll with a brand new wig.
