Kanani's Surfboard Quilt Set

Today we stick our tongue out at Photobucket because it is being very difficult to use. But hopefully we can still manage to post something.

We wanted to show you one of our own Quietude Quilts sets -- a quilt set with surfboards on it that we bought for Kanani that came with two pillows, just like the Christmas set we are giving away. We love these quilt sets -- they are made very well and out of wonderful, bold fabrics.

Haven't heard about our giveaway yet? Check this out: http://thedollwardrobe.blogspot.com/2011/11/quietude-quilt-giveaway.html

Kanani is posing beside her bed wearing a new outfit from Forever 18 Inches -- an outfit we have highlighted on our Facebook wall, but no one was buying. So we decided to get it ourselves. ;-)

We will do another post with more pics of Kanani in her new outfit. For now please enjoy these photos of our surfboard quilt set!

Kanani's New Party Dress!

Yep. We ordered a new party dress for Kanani from All Dolled Up Doll Clothes. The comment on our post on the AG version that the Hawaiian Kanani is bizarrely wearing velvet got us thinking. And then Penny's sister suggested a classic sarong dress instead, made of lighter fabric. So we asked Terrie if she could make us one. And that turned into three because we liked three of the fabrics! Haha.

Here are Maple, Kanani, and Alice modeling them for us. It is the "Moonlight in Maui" dress on the "It's a Girl's World" page on the ADUDC website in case you want one (or three) for yourself. ;-)

Maple sports the white and black version; Kanani sparkles in the blue and green dress; and Alice looks stunning in the yellow and black frock. These girls are ready for a party! Bring on the luau music!

Thanks Terrie!

Can you believe Kanani is only here for 67 more days? Where does the time go?

Kanani's Party Outfit

Hola! Today we have pics of Kanani's blue party dress on Maple, our MyAG #55.

Our favorite parts of this outfit are the shoes and headband -- they are really cute. The dress is alright -- we like the color, but its not like Kanani needed another thing that was aqua, haha. And we aren't really sold on the velvety material. We kind of wish AG would stop using it -- it looks like towel fabric to us. This is accentuated by the huge burnt-out leafy pattern on the skirt (which we see on bath towels). They really should have picked a fabric with a smaller, doll-sized pattern on it at least.

But besides these complaints, it looks pretty nice on Maple..... and we like the embroidery and sequins at the waistline and the design of the double cap sleeves.....

AG's dress with three other colors we like.... why'd they have to pick aqua again? Haha.

Here is Maple with Stella in the Merry and Bright Outfit....
We think the same person designed both of these, they look similar to us. ;-)

Maple up-close and then a slideshow...

Thanks for visiting us today!

If you have any questions about this outfit, let us know!

Stay tuned for more fun posts!

Doll Jewelry, Part Two: Experiments

So before we showed y'all step-by-step instructions on how to make jewelry we had to make sure we knew what we were doing. Haha. And we learned through our various experiments that you can be pretty clueless and still make great doll jewelry. ;-)

Warning: Long post, lots of pictures.

First we started with that really teeny, tiny silver chain that we had to cut with scissors to open the links and we added on the dice charm and one of the magnetic clasps to complete it. We put it on our velvet stand to make sure it didn't look redonkulous.

Then we tried it on Kanani in a Sew Urban Designs outfit to make sure it looked okay on a doll.

So this experiment seemed successful enough and we went on to necklace number two. Another silver chain with a charm. We continued by measuring the necklace we just made against the super-shiny chain to select the proper length. We wanted to make the super-shiny one slightly longer.

The next step is to open one link and separate the piece of chain we need from the rest of the pack. To open a link just put the tip of the pliers inside the link and then pull the pliers open. Leave the link open to put the magnetic clasp on the end.

Slide the magnetic clasp onto the open link and then squeeze the link closed with the pliers.

Then open the link at the other end and complete the circle.

Here is comparison shot of the length of each necklace.

Now we get to choose the charm for this super-shiny necklace... we have the dragon, ship's wheel, frog, and key left. We want to put one charm on the blue glass bead chain so we wanted to see which one would look the best on that. Here are our experiments to see what will look best with each chain.

In the end we chose to put the ship's wheel on the blue glass bead chain and the key on the super-shiny chain... and again, it is just a matter of opening a link, hooking it onto the chain and closing the link. We hang the chain in the air from the magnetic clasp in order to find the middle-point to hang the charm from.

Various shots of the finished product... and next time we do a jewelry post we'll show you the key necklace on a doll... Oooo! The suspense!

Stay tuned for more doll jewelry posts... like we said before, in the future just click on the label "Doll Jewelry" to find all the posts we do on this subject. Next time we'll show you the construction of the ship's wheel necklace.

p.s. The estimated cost of the supplies for this particular necklace is about $4 -- but it is difficult to estimate as we aren't sure yet how many necklaces we'll be able to make with each length of chain.

The New Stuff

Yep, we stayed up until it was all online. Sometimes summer is about staying up all night watching the AG site for updates. ;-)

Well there is a lot of new MyAG stuff and Kanani's collection seems to be complete now - since they are already advertising her "whole world collection." This is probably the last big MyAG release until the "holiday outfits" hit the stores in the early fall.

And now an obligatory video of all the new 18" stuff.... or at least we think we got all the new stuff in there.... even two Bitty Twins outfits that we'd like to know how they look on 18" AGs...

We can't quite decide what to get - there are a lot of nice things. Are you guys planning on getting anything or adding something your wish list?

March/April Giveaway Wrap-Up and
4 New Outfits in a Video

Sup, peeps. We just wanted to name our three winners all in one post, so y'all don't get too confused. All three ladies have responded to their emails. So this list is "finalized."

Karise E. won the mint green dress, Andrea O. won the purple dress, and Debbie A. won the red dress set.

Yay and congrats to all three winners!

And just so we have something else to entertain you today, we finished processing a new video: Four New Modern Outfits. We are doing a lot of those lately, haha -- mostly because we have so many we haven't taken photos of yet.

In today's video Cassie is wearing an outfit from Cutie Pie and Me. Her headband is also from that seller, but her belt is Liberty Jane, while her boots are AG. Lira is wearing a Doll Closet top, with a Liberty Jane belt, and Cutie Pie and Me jeans. Her shoes are AG.

Kanani is modeling a Britlyn Madison shirt and necklaces, with AG leggings, and Megori Girls boots. Arista's outfit is a tee shirt from 123 Mulberry Street, Josefina's vest, and a Liberty Jane belt and skirt. The boots are also from Liberty Jane, although they are also available through Britlyn Madison when in stock.

Any questions? Feel free to let us know!

Doll Giveaway Accessories Set from All Dolled Up and Pics of the MyAG Bathtub

Hola! We finally get around to showing you the set donated by All Dolled Up Doll Clothes to accompany the doll for our Winter 2011 Doll Giveaway. Yay! (Psssst - Terrie is currently doing a T-shirt giveaway over at ADUDC and today is the last day to enter!)

This post also serves as a reminder that the last day to enter our doll giveaway is April 6th, next Wednesday. So one more week left!

Terrie of All Dolled Up sent us a bathrobe, slippers, hanger, and blanket as an accessory set for our giveaway. Thank you Terrie!!! Kanani is modeling them for us below. Everything is super-super soft and so nice. Kanani can be seen next to the new MyAG bathtub which we purchased last year (but that won't be coming with the doll, haha - that stays here.)

Here is a main shot of Kanani and the accessory set...

Slideshow...

And some more images of the tub, which comes with a bath mat, shampoo, soap, a soap dish, bubbles, one washcloth, one hand towel, and the faucet which attaches to the tub. Besides an actual full-size bath towel (who wants to dry yourself with a hand towel?), the only thing that was missing was a rubber ducky. But that does come with the pet grooming tub in case you want one. Although a small rubber ducky probably wouldn't be that difficult to find...

So just FYI - we changed it up so that the homepage only loads the last three posts we've created. We found that it was difficult to load 5 or 6 because of the amount of slideshows we have been including in posts and on the sidebar. So be sure to check out the side menu for more posts. We currently have over 500 posts- actually 534 to be more precise. We should have a party when we reach 750 or something... :-D

Vintique Designs Sets and All Dolled Up Cardi

Hello! Happy Friday everyone! Only two more weeks of March left -- where does the time go? Speaking of time-- tomorrow is the last day to enter our two Feb/March giveaways. We probably sound like a broken record at this point, but we don't want anyone to miss out on entering. :-)

Today we have pictures of Angelina and Kanani modeling sets from Vintique Designs based on Liberty Jane patterns. We mixed and matched the sets and included a cardigan sweater from All Dolled Up Doll Clothes.

So Angelina is wearing a purple tank top and fancy, sparkly black and purple skirt from Vintique based on the LJ Harajuku pattern. The dark grey-black cardigan from All Dolled Up is really awesome and is embellished with flowers at the neckline.

Kanani is modeling a purple cropped grommet jacket, army green tank top, and gold-patterned coordinating skirt -- all three items are based on LJ patterns. The purple cropped jacket was "matched" with Angelina's shirt and skirt, but we wanted to experiment some with a new look. Also, Vintique Designs included the fantastic army green fishnet tights as well. They are so much fun.

We have a ton, and I mean a ton, of stuff from both sellers that we have yet to show you -- so be sure to look for more posts from us soon about Vintique Designs and All Dolled Up Doll Clothes. :-)

Enjoy zee pics!

p.s. We wanted to point out that Terrie at All Dolled Up just re-opened her shop with a whole bunch of new items for sale in a variety of fabrics and colors. Her collection now includes a romper, cropped sweatpants, vests, Harajuku skirts, boxy shirts, tunic tops, and more -- as well as outerwear, historical clothing, costumes, and clothing for boy dolls. She really pulled out the stops for spring-- so be sure to check out her website!

Some of her for-sale work can be seen in the pics below..... and she does do custom work and custom fabric requests... so if you want something specific, just ask her! She is awesome! And of course, as I have said before, Linda of Vintique Designs does custom work as well -- so if you like her style and want something special feel free to contact her. :-)

MyAG 2-in-1 Surf Swimsuit and Accessory Set

Hola! Happy St. Patty's Day everybody! Hope y'all are wearing the green so you don't get pinched. ;-)

Today we have pictures of MyAG's 2-in-1 Surf Swimsuit and the accessory set (which you have to buy separately). We love this set and knew we had to have it -- it is blue, green and white. No pink! Vamos a celebrar, mis amigos!

Currently the swimsuit is on sale from $34 to $28 for this week's Spotlight Savings. The accessories are not on sale though and will still set you back $32. I know, I know. Insane prices for something mass-produced in China.

The swimsuit comes with the bikini top and bottom, the wetsuit top, the skirt, and the flip-flops. The accessories include the sunglasses, bag, sunscreen, towel, snorkel flippers, goggles, and mouthpiece. It is an exciting and useful set for dolls that go to the beach (or even the backyard pool)-- but $32 is a little steep for mostly plastic.

Anyways, we wanted to highlight the set because 1) it is on sale this week and 2) it is a great accompaniment to Kanani's collection. Definitely good accessories for a Hawaiian doll and her friends, or just any doll living in or going on vacation to a sunny climate. ;-)

Here are zee pics of Kanani and Alice modeling the swimsuit sets and accessories!

Thanks for visiting and remember -- Saturday is the last day to enter the Feb/March giveaways -- Time is running out! Winners will be announced on Sunday - Exciting!

The Inevitable MyAG Pink Post and
Meet KK Pita!

In our efforts to review and photograph as many AG outfits as we can here at The Doll Wardrobe (especially for people looking to duplicate/personalize them) we bought the two pinkest outfits on the face of the Earth. Yikes! - I know. But there was a method to our madness. ;-)

Today we have pictures of Kanani modeling the MyAG Sweetheart Pjs and our Karito Kid Pita wearing the MyAG Campus Casual outfit. She isn't wearing the purple shoes because they don't fit on her feeties....

The Sweetheart Pajamas are interesting because of the scrunched/ruched shorts and the slipper socks/slipper booties -- two items that we think would be fun to market in more colors and fabrics on the handmade AG market. For the shorts, the scrunch bit is just sewn into place and is not adjustable -- making a seamstress's job a little easier once the faux-ties are in place. The slipper socks are just knit fabric and fleece. You don't even need the hot glue-gun to make these shoes. And slipper socks are a big trend right now-- there are a lot of examples out there, from Mukluks and Rocket Dog, etc., to help inspire you....

This might even be a good product for knitters out there to make as they might not need to buy pre-knit fabric then. Especially for the cable-knit examples. Do they sell pre-made cable-knit? This we do not know..... Anyway, our friend over at Dynamite Threads uses sock yarn for all of her dolly knits. So be sure to give that type of yarn a try!

As far as scrunched/ruched shorts these are good for warm-ups, pjs, and swimsuit coverups... might be something cute to try as an item to sell....here are some human examples...

And the Campus Casual outfit is interesting because of the cropped sweatpants.... also good for warm-ups and pjs, as well as just a casual outfit... hence the "Campus Casual" part.... haha. Probably wouldn't be too difficult to make some of these and you could do elastic at the knees or drawstrings. Here are some human examples...

p.s. Remember Saturday March 19th is the last day to enter our two Feb/March 25th Anniversary giveaways! Enter today!

Last of the New Kanani Items!

Yep, after a week of sleeping on the job-- we finally get back to showing you some more of the Kanani items. Sorry we have been MIA-- it's almost mid-terms at school and the teachers like to give a lot of homework so we do well on the tests. Blech.

So it is about time to finish up the new January AG stuff here at The Doll Wardrobe because we got a lot of new AG stuff this month. Haha. That's right-- we put in a big order on the day the new MyAG stuff was released. So look forward to those posts!

Today we have Kanani's Aloha Outfit, her swimsuit with the life vest, her towel set, and her seal to show you. Zoe Twiggs is modeling the Aloha Outfit for us. We think she makes a pretty good stand-in for Kanani's cousin. Lots and lots of pictures ahead, so we hope you guys don't get tired of scrolling. ;-)

First Zoe and Kanani...

Then just Kanani with her seal....

Zoe.....

Seal and towel set.....

Zoe in the Aloha shirt with the board shorts and the Meet sandals and jewelry (she is wearing the necklace in her hair, heehee)....

As we have said before, we really like the Kanani collection and we appreciate how well things coordinate with each other. Yes, it is very "Barbie-esque" in design and color scheme -- but we don't really have any problems with Barbie stuff. We do think Mattel should create a thicker division between the styles of the two lines, but eh, what sells is what sells. And that is what they will keep creating.

Any questions about any of these items? Any opinions? Let us know!

p.s. Don't forget to enter our two Feb/March giveaways!!!

Additional New Stuff... :-)

Hello again friends! Today we have Kanani in her jammies and Zoe in the Honey PJs, as well as Kanani's accessories. In addition we have some pics of Kanani in her paddle boarding outfit with her surfboard and paddle.

We really like Kanani's jammies-- as you know, blue is our favorite color--- but also because they look really good on her. We tried the Honey PJs on her and they didn't look nearly as good as her own. The Honey PJs are also pretty cute-- and they suit Zoe's coloring. Each outfit comes with cropped leggings, a long shirt and slippers. Kanani's accessories include the doggie, the baggie, the camera, and the various paper items you see in the pics below.

And next is the paddle boarding outfit from various angles... we will also show you the life-jacket over the swimsuit in a later post (with the monk seal, ooooo). This is a great set-- yes, there is a lot of pink going on... but there are aspects we like: 1) how it looks on Kanani, 2) the one-piece quality of the swimsuit, and 3) the chic hairband/bow thingy. Maybe we aren't that difficult to please, but it is a really flattering swimsuit-shorts combo.

Stay tuned for more!

Some More of Our New Stuff... :-)

Today we have Kanani modeling her Hula outfit and pics of the 25th anniversary mini Samantha doll in her holiday dress...

We have heard that Kanani's Hula outfit no longer comes with the anklets because they were staining dolly ankles... so if you own this outfit be careful that you don't put the anklets on for too long. Despite this issue, it is a nice outfit. Very over-priced for the contents (of course, thank you AG) and the pink is retina-burning.... but it does look really good on Kanani....

And here is Kanani again, showing off her mini Samantha doll (she gets the mini Sam doll since she is the 1st doll we got in 2011, the year of the 25th anniversary)... FYI the doll comes with a little label for the display case that says "Samantha" as you can see below...

Stay tuned---- More new stuff around the corner! :-)

Some of Our New AG Stuff :)

Nice title, right? Haha. We couldn't think of a better one, and that pretty much describes the content below...

So we got Kanani in January, and some AG stuff for Christmas.... so here are some pics... We begin with a picture of all the boxes of schtuff we got, move on to some shots of Kanani and her books, and then her modeling the True Style outfit from AG with Praline by her side...

Boy, that's a lot of boxes...

Pretty Kanani... we included a close-up book cover shot of her in the slideshow so you can see that her eyes are clearly brown on the cover of the Meet books....

True Style....

Obviously there is more new schtuff to show you that was hidden in those boxes... so stay tuned! :)
