Keepers Dolly Duds
1940s Plaid Dress for Linda

Waaachaaaa! Sneaky sneak sneak attack!

Back on September 3rd one of our readers- Avery V. - noticed Chrissa in the guest review of the VintiqueDesigns56 Work-A-Day set. She was surprised to see her since we had never announced owning Chrissa. This was in fact Adventures in AG's Chrissa.

But indeed, we actually did already have Chrissa here in Badger's Wood. Yes, with the subtle moves of a highly-trained ninja we acquired ourselves a "Linda Rinaldi" doll to complete our 1940s four-pack of friends. We just wanted to wait until December 2009 to show her off. "Why?," I hear you ask....

Well because Linda, fka Chrissa, is the Girl of the Year 2009 and December will be the last month to buy her from AG. So this is going to be our little farewell tribute month for Chrissa. We will try and post about Linda/Chrissa several more times in the coming weeks.

First off for our Chrissa tribute we have Linda modeling a Keepers Dolly Duds plaid 1940s dress which is ideal for school-day attire. We just love this dress with its two-fabric design and the little buttons and bow on the front under the collar. And the light blue in the plaid fabric looks pretty neat with Linda's eye coloring. To top it all off, Linda is sporting some mighty fine pigtails to complement her new Keepers frock.

She is quite a pretty doll and we are lucky
to have her here in Badger's Wood.

Stay tuned to The Doll Wardrobe for more
Linda/Chrissa posts this month! Yay for 1940s clothing!
And yay for GOTY dolls!

Outfits of the Week- Ebay Highlights

Here we are again, looking at upcoming auctions on Ebay that present some interesting doll clothing for us to drool over. :) All pictures in this post are the property of the listed Ebay sellers and I use them here only to showcase their wares.

First we have a nice yellow and green dress for the 1860s and
the petticoat is included as you can see in the photo below.
This is being offered by Ebay seller kmkdollshop
and the auction ends tomorrow, Sunday,
September 27th (18:30 PDT).
Addy looks so pretty in this dress!

Our second highlight is the Keepers Dolly Duds version
of the green coat from the cover of "Really Truly, Ruthie."
Such a wonderful green color!
The auction ends Monday night,
September 28th (18:00 PDT).

The third auction showcased today is this cranberry-colored
middy top and pleated skirt combo for Rebecca
offered from Ebay seller sewing*genie.
This auction ends Thursday, October 1st (17:53 PDT).
Yet another impressive Rebecca outfit from sewing*genie!

And last but not least, let's flash forward to something groovy
for Julie (or a modern doll who wears vintage duds)-
this five-piece jeans set offered by
Ebay seller idreamofjeannemarie.
This auction ends Thursday, October 1st (17:15 PDT).
So tempting! That purple hat is adorable.

Be sure to check out the other items being offered by these sellers- each week's auctions usually feature more than one outfit. :) On Monday we continue our "Liberty Jane Mondays" tradition with the Summer Camp Outfit. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Toodles!

Keepers Dolly Duds Green and Blue Polka Dots Dress for Connie

Penny purchased this 1940s ZigZag frock from Keepers Dolly Duds for our custom 1950s teen doll Connie Bonacorsi. We thought it was a fun and jazzy dress that would be okay to use as 1950s duds. Plus Connie needs something to wear to school. She can't really wear fancy party dresses everywhere she goes. ;)

The combination of green and blue is quite stunning with Connie's dark hair, and we love how the two fabrics are combined in this design. There are so many wonderful details: the tiny buttons, the white cuffs and collar, and the full skirt with the pleated contrast inset. Yet another perfect dress from Keepers- Thank you Eve! Connie just loves her new dress. :)

Come on back to The Doll Wardrobe tomorrow (Saturday) when we present some highlights of outfits in upcoming Ebay auctions. And of course, stay tuned for Monday's Liberty Jane Clothing outfit being modeled by our new Ramona (fka Ivy) with our first LJC mix and match.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Keepers Dolly Duds Sundress, Linen Jacket and Hat

It seem like its been forever since we showed a new handmade outfit! Of course we did post about the purple Ruthie dress from Ebay seller sophie_nc on June 19th....but that seems like sooo long ago! Back then, when I was a young, naive fifth grader, and not yet the cool, hip sixth grader that I am today. Ok, so grade-levels are really irrelevant when it comes to coolness.... at least that's what Penny keeps saying...

Today, as a wise and mature sixth grader, I write about the new plaid sundress, blue linen jacket and matching hat which we received from Ebay seller keepersdollyduds. It is being modeled by our lovely new friend Rebecca. She has yet to be firmly established as Rebecca Rubin. Penny will probably pick out a new last name when she figures out her new identity. We don't like to be too matchy-matchy to the AG names. But we do like the name Rebecca.

Anyway, where was I? Oh right, so this jacket and hat are dated for the 1930s or early 1940s and were being modeled by Ruthie in the Keepers Dolly Duds auction. So in other words, Rebecca is trying on the 1930s and early 1940s for size. Does she like this time period? Does she look like she should be hanging out with Kit and Ruthie?

As you will see in the plethora of pictures below, the Keepers "duds" are pretty fantastic. The empire-waisted sundress is made of a beautiful plaid fabric colored with blue, red, yellow and white hues. The red trim and bow around the waistline give it an aura of feminine sophistication. The dress goes wonderfully with the jacket and hat, and the best part is the dress could work for a variety of time periods.

The jacket is so well tailored, with delicate lapels, slightly poofy shoulders, and the most beautiful metal buttons. It fits like a glove and Rebecca likes how light-weight it is, while still protecting her fair skin from the sun. The hat is a unique style that I have never seen a doll seamstress attempt to make before. It sits perfectly on the crown of Rebecca's head and sports bows made of the same blue linen fabric on both sides. Penny really loves this set and this blue color.

And last, but not least, you will discover in the photos a new dog which was purchased for Rebecca. Where did we find it? At the grocery store! Bizarre, I know. But it was adorable, and it barks! He/she will be named once we figure out who Rebecca will be. Can't really name him/her Einstein and then put Rebecca into the colonial era...heehee.

So are you ready for another poll? Yes, three polls running simultaneously. Ridiculous? Probably. But I like making them! Our third official poll will ask you which "American" time period you think Rebecca should be placed into. She will still be Jewish, no matter what era she lands in. But obviously her story will be almost 99% different than the AG Rebecca Rubin story. What will her story be? We don't know yet. First we need to determine a time period. So look over to the right in our sidebar under my gorgeous photo and place your vote!

Our next post on handmade doll clothing will focus on a new item from Etsy seller TheDollCloset, being modeled by our-yet-to-be-named 1950s doll. Consider it a teaser into her fun, funky and charming wardrobe! Maybe it will help you decide which name to vote for in our 1950s naming poll on the right. So far, it looks like Virginia is still winning! If that name sticks, she may be nicknamed "Ginny." Or maybe not...we'll have to ask her if she likes that nickname...

So take a gander at the images below and start pondering which time period you think Rebecca (and her canine companion) should be placed into!

Keepers Dolly Duds Red, White and Blue Ruthie Dress

Ok, so we are a little early for the 4th of July. But how can you write "red, white and blue" in a different order than "red, white and blue"- especially when you are writing about American Girl dolls? It is quite a conundrum, but....

....I guess we can try...this blue, red, and white dress was recently purchased by Penny from the Ebay store of seller keepersdollyduds. If it is possible to be addicted to an Ebay store, she is definitely addicted to Keepers. We may have to have an intervention soon. Heehee.

Truth be told, once the spring and summer warm-weather dresses started being released Penny started hunting them down feverishly in order to fill gaps in specific dolls' wardrobes. For instance, our dear friend Ruthie, who as a wealthy young lady should own a lot of clothing, is sort of lacking a lot of attire choices. So now she has a nice sleeveless dress to wear in the summer while sitting on Kit's front porch and sipping ice tea.

This beautiful blue dress with tiny white polka dots is accented by pleating, red rick-rack trim, a white cut-up layered collar with tiny red buttons, and a removable belt. Also included was the red hair ribbon which Stella managed to tie onto Ruthie's semi-fancy hairdo. (Stella was in charge of hairstyling for this photoshoot.)

Stop by next time for a look at our new Dollies' Dressmaker striped 1940s dress being modeled by Susan Shapiro!

Susan Shapiro Arrives! Her Homecoming Gift- A Keepers Dolly Duds outfit!

And faster than you can say puffy periwinkle pirate pants, our new light-brown-eyed Susan Shapiro, courtesy of the customization services of Mstangledwebs, appeared at our doorstep! Below you will see the gorgeous, up-close shot of Susan's happy face right after she arrived back in Badger's Wood.

As a homecoming gift Penny gave her a new Keepers Dolly Duds 1940s jumper and blouse. Please see the Ebay store of keepersdollyduds for more items like this from Eve Coleman! Her clothing is made of awesomeness!

In the photos you can see Susan modeling her new outfit and her new eyes, hahahahahaha- I kill myself! Gosh, I'm funny. She is too pretty for her own good and frankly, I'm a little jealous. I mean, how many other Mia dolls were created? At least 5 billion right? And how many light-brown-eyed #23 dolls are out there in the world? Probably not that many! I'm feeling a little, well, generic all of a sudden... but generic is not all that bad. Right?

Our next post from Badger's Wood will feature our beloved new Susan and an Apron set from Etsy seller suzymstudio. Catch ya later alligator!

Keepers Already Making Rebecca Rubin 1914 Clothing!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Exciting news for collectors!

In anticipation of the May 31st (ish) 2009 release of the new historical doll from American Girl, Ebay store Keepers Dolly Duds has already starting making Rebecca Rubin clothing!

Of course, Keepers is not generating items from the unknown AG collection. We don't really know what types of clothing Rebecca will have from AG, besides what we see on her book cover illustrations. And Keepers is not generating items from the book covers. Just clothing in an appropriate 1914 style that is not overly fancy (like Samantha's 1904 clothing would be.)

Last week she offered a mint green drop-waist dress and this coming Monday an auction closes on a 1914 Blue Linen spring coat and hat. It is very attractive! Search for the seller name "keepersdollyduds" in Ebay and see it for yourself!

Now if only we could see the Rebecca doll and her AG collection! But I guess we have to keep waiting....

Keepers Dress and New Ruthie

Ok, so two big pieces of news for this posting.

#1 Penny took the plunge and bought a "pinkish" dress from Ebay store keepersdollyduds! The listing included the colors coral, pink and ivory. Penny was willing to buy it because the first color listed was coral- which she likes quite a bit.

Now that we have it here in person, I would say that it has two different tones of coral, as well as a creamy-yellow and white in the heavily-patterned fabric. It looks like a plaid fabric that got swarmed by bubbles. It is quite neat! Another great Ruthie dress from Keepers!

#2 bit of news: Jess quickly volunteered to model the new Keepers Ruthie dress and was quite patient as we put the included hair ribbon on her head. During the photoshoot she was telling Penny about how she has reddish-brown hair and brown eyes, just the Ruthie in the AG books. She also talked about how much she likes wearing the Ruthie clothing Penny has purchased before. In addition, she stated that she wasn't very interested in wearing modern clothing.

After 15 more hints, Penny asked Jess if she wanted to be Ruthie Smithens- and the answer was an excited "YES!" So while many others choose to keep Jess as Jess, she has now become Ruthie in our household and has taken on a new time period.

A bizarre and unexpected turn of events to be sure, especially since Jess has been living here for so long already as Jess. But in the end, I have always said that dolls rarely keep there original identities in this house. They seem to have slightly different personalities than AG originally had intended for them. Haha.

Julie= Cassie, Mia= Nora (me!), Ruthie=Mary, Sonali=Sundari and now Jess=Ruthie (and of course the future Felicity=Elinor)

Doesn't our new Ruthie look so happy to be Ruthie? Heehee.
