New Dolls! Woo hoo! --- #44, Ivy and (#40)

Finally, the UPS man came today with the dolls Penny had ordered last week! So exciting!

Unfortunately, we are not going to keep the #40 because her eyes were a little too strange for Penny- one being a radically different shape than the other and they gaze in two different directions. Oh well. We can't win them all, and the Jess face mold eyes are never exactly the same size and shape from left to right eye. :(

Penny is considering exchanging her for another #40, but then she also realized once we took some pictures for you that #40 looks a lot like Jess (our Ruthie). Their hair parts on the same side, and the #40's hair was a lot longer than we thought it would be. Maybe if we get a new #40 with good eyes we will give her a haircut.

But I'll stop rambling and give you quick explanations of what you see below.

#44 is yet un-named- but her hair is gorgeous and we are definitely keeping her. Though she probably won't be modeling too many outfits in order to keep her hair nice. For names, we were thinking about Veronica, or Autumn, or Gabriella, or maybe Heidi, or......? Any suggestions for us? She is meant to be one of Stella's friends from her old school in her old town- so she'd be around 15/16 years old.

Meanwhile, our Ivy immediately took off her 1970s duds, ran around naked for a little while, and then grabbed the nearest Liberty Jane items she could find for the photo shoot. She didn't even bother putting on shoes! So I guess this would also qualify as a sneak peek to our Liberty Jane items. ;) Her name is Ramona J. Dove and she attends the private school with Stella and Sundari, making her around 14/15. She is a freshman.

And the #40, which will be returned, was meant to be Sabrina M. Dove- Ramona's younger sister. We will have to wait and see if we want a new #40 to play that role. Or perhaps a #40 or #30 with an eye swap to some other color besides brown??? Who knows right now...but we will keep you updated.

So first you see frontal views of #44, then Ivy, then #40, and finally a comparison shot of #40, Jess, and Ivy. Jess is being a nudist for this photo shoot to help you tell her apart from the #40. ;) All these photos are followed by a loooooong slideshow of many pictures of all the new dolls. Sorry for the length of the slideshow, but you can skip ahead by clicking on the forward and backward buttons when you hover over the image with your mouse.

Any questions about the new dolls? Let us know! And please feel free to leave name suggestions for the #44 with curly hair, medium skin, and hazel eyes. :)

Still Basking in the Warm Glow of New Dollies...

Okay, so today we are supposed to introduce Connie Bonacorsi to y'all, which we will eventually get around to doing. But for now I am still astounded by the 20 new dolls. It's ridiculous how many there are! Is this going to be a normal occurrence every couple years? Or is this an anomaly?

Personally, from the Nora (fka Mia) point of view, I feel a bit threatened that so many of them have a hair color that is similar to mine! Of course none them look as good as me (wink), but they are rather close. It is understandable though since those who missed out on Mia will want something like Mia. Heehee.

In the end, American Girl is probably trying to gather some of that secondary market away from Mia re-sellers. So instead of someone buying Mia off of Ebay now, they'll go to the AG site, see new options of Mia-look-alike dolls, and swoop in with their credit card. Smart move AG!

Sitara asked which are our new faves over here in Badger's Wood. After staring at our own new slideshow for about 6 hours....here are our conclusions:

Penny loves #49, #40, #44, and #39.

I love #46, #47, and #41, because they look the least like me and won't give me an identity complex. :P

Penny wasn't so sure about #49's dark hair and blue eyes combination. Though she does look awesome, we already have so many dark-haired classic face mold girls. Is she unique enough to merit a purchase?

As for #40, Penny was thinking about getting the Not!Jess #30 that was released last year and now she has a new option. Should she get this short-haired version of Not!Jess? Ivy is on her wishlist. Are they too similar- this new #40 and Ivy?

Penny was really excited about #44 because she loves the look of that curly wig. But it might be a nightmare to care for. She doesn't do very well with styling Rebecca's hair, so buying this doll might be a bad idea. She said "Maybe if I just don't touch the hair at all..... it will stay nice?"

#39 took Penny's breath away when she first saw the picture, but then she started thinking about how similar she is to Emily and me in certain ways and couldn't really justify getting her. Maybe if we see her in person or see some real-life pictures she may look different enough than Emily and me to warrant a purchase. :)

As far as my opinion, the two Sundari....I mean Sonali mold dolls #46 and #47 are really wonderful. They are both very unique and have different hair coloring than Sonali, whose hair is basically black. However the skin tone and brown eyes are the same and we can't really justify getting one of these when we already have Sundari. I think she would feel a bit threatened....heehee. Maybe someday they will use a Sonali mold with a different skin tone and different colored eyes?

#41 is drop-dead, prom queen gorgeous- but looks too much like the AG Ruthie (our Mary Royall) to allow her to come on over to our house. Her new green eyes are wonderful though. Penny is kicking herself for giving Connie Felicity's decal eyes now that they have these new green eyes. But it was pretty much a given- the instant Penny made a green-eyed custom doll, they would release new green eyes. :P

Ok, so there are our faves!....now I will get back to working on the Connie post...

20 New JLY Dolls Released Today!

This was a bit too overwhelming not to post about....so yes, 20 new Just Like You dolls were released today from American Girl. We have added a slideshow of their faces below so everyone can start drooling without having to surf the AG site for hours. There is even some new pinwheel green eyes on some of these dolls. And of course, who could miss the fact that 2 of them are sporting the Sonali mold!

There were also some Rebecca and Julie releases, and some new Just Like You merchandise. I'll probably post about that eventually.....but for now I am still hyperventilating about 20 new dolls in one day. Penny has taken her wallet and locked herself in her bathroom with one of the laptops...I think she is doing something devious with her credit card.....
