Kirsten's New Home!

Hola! Today we wanted to share some pics of the Winter 2011 Giveaway Doll in her "new habitat." Dawn won her back on April 7th -- but she already has several new outfits and more on the way. She has really inspired her new owner and they both seem to be having a great time.

Dawn has a flickr account with some pics of her "prize." So that is where we got these images from. The account will probably be growing, so perhaps we will post some updates as time goes on.

Thanks for sharing these Dawn!

The Mini Kirstens and Sara welcome Big Kirsten
"That Dawn S, winner of an American Girl doll listed on The Doll Wardrobe blog, is me! Kirsten arrived today and immediately started trying on various and sundry 18" doll clothes. Before Kirsten arrived, the only 18" AG that I had was Josefina. Kirsten is wearing one of her skirts and a sweater my mom knitted. I know they don't match, but I'm looking for fabric to make her a similar one in colors that will match.

I also found some red boots that Kirsten can squeeze her feet into. They were purchased years ago from the iDoll close-out sale and were too big for the dolls I bought them for."

Vaguely Mary Engelbreit
"Kirsten is still in the process of trying on every garment in the house that might fit. I made this sweater for the thinner, all vinyl dolls. I will need to come up with a better version of the skirt to make her an Engelbreity outfit. This skirt is actually a cheap sundress that I bought for the hat that went with it."

Kirsten
"I'm not sure how historically accurate this outfit is, or even what era it might be, but I'm loving it on Kirsten. My mom made the sweater. The blouse is one of Josefina's camisas turned around backward, The skirt is too tight and pinned in the back, and the brooch is a straight pin with a jewelry finding. Kirsten got to wear Josefina's new boots before Josefina did."

Kirsten Larson
"I made Kirsten's plaid shawl today and her bonnet earlier in the week. They were both easy to make."

Kirsten and Josefina
"We had a chilly day today, so it was a good day for the girls to try out the plaid shawls I just made. Kirsten knows that it doesn't really match her skirt, but she doesn't seem to care."

Stay tuned for more dolly fun!

I LOVE your Kirsten! I got mine way back in 2007, and the following day(even though I was 10,) Her braids came out! I would reccomend keeping her as neat as possible, and keep her braids in! Unless you're a doll hair expert, then go ahead. I'm just saying if you take them out, it's really frustrating. :)

How sweet! I bet you're enjoying your Kirsten. I'm so sad she's retired!

Thanks, everyone! I am really enjoying Kirsten. I haven't taken her braids out yet. I'm guessing that when I make her birthday dress or her nightgown is when I'll feel the need to take them down. I have the fabric for the birthday dress, so it will probably be next.

Yeah Kirsten's braids are a challenge. Which is why we have two Kirstens here - one with her hair down (Ginny) and one with her braids still in place (Kirsten).

We are too scared to take Kirsten's braids down -- we know we don't have the skill to put them back in place, haha.
