Don't Forget the Scrapbook Ribbons and Trim!

So this is a weird post.

It's something we've had on our minds for awhile.

Ribbons and trim.

We guess it lands in the "Trends to Sew" category of this blog.
Since it is just us telling you guys what to do. :-P

As seamstresses and doll hobbyists we might get lost in the sewing section of a craft store. While we stare longingly at rows of tiny buttons, we might forget there are other parts of the store.

There is this whole scrapbooking craze. Some of you probably already know about it and have discovered its secrets. Others might be newbies to the world of the scrapbook.

We love the Tim Holtz line and pretty much collect everything we can from him -- trinkets, gadgets, keys, glass bottles, ribbons, trim, gears, charms, mini paper clips, etc. etc.

But there is so much more to discover!
So many other lines, collections, brands!

For today we highlight ribbon and trim.
Try out the scrapbooking options. They are scaled smaller, closer to doll scale, than many of the ribbons and trims available in the human sewing section.

All pics in this post are from Scrapbook.com. We shop at Scrapbook.com for sanity's sake, but there are dozens of other online stores, as well as the brick and mortar stores. In those stores, scrapbook ribbons and trims are not located in the sewing section -- they are a couple aisles over in Scrapbookland. Go hunt them down sometime if you haven't already.

What can you do with these ribbons and trims for your dolls?

Trimming for outfits, crafting ruffles, highlighting seams.
Trim for hats, bonnets.
Shoulder straps for tanks and dresses.
Choker-style necklaces. Belts.
Hair ribbons or accessories, like clip decor or headbands.
Bracelets. Crafting shoes.
Trim on purses. Bag straps.
Decorations for pre-bought shoes.
Trim for bedding sets, curtains, or mini lamps.
Crafting bows, bows, bows for various projects.
Like mini gift packages or hair clips.
And the thicker, ruffly ones could even be used as skinny scarves.

The list could go on and on.

If you have suggestions for how to use scrapbooking ribbons and trim for doll projects -- feel free to suggest them in the comments!

One WARNING is that some of them are self-adhesive -- so they already have a sticky back to them. You'll probably want to avoid those unless
you are working with paper crafts.

Check out some more pics below as just a few examples of what is available!

Thanks for visiting us today!!!

Hope this was helpful for someone out there. :-)

Sorry if someone's already asked this, but are you ever going to show us Maple's lab? It sounds really interesting! :)

Yep, we are still in the process of making it though, haha.

But we will do more posts on it -- the process of creation and the finished product. We'll try to do that in October. :-)
