Hola! Ready for a lot of words???
We asked on Facebook if y'alls wanted us to start up the 2013 Grand Photo Contest now and you said "yar."
This contest will be very different (sorta different, kinda different) than what we have done before.
There will be four winners.
Grand Prize Winner will receive an AG doll of their choice or an equivalent AG gift card.
Three runners-up will get $35 AG gift cards each.
This idea is based loosely on the Flickr Monthly Scavenger Hunt.
We call it "The Curator's Game" because all of our terms are art-related as a nod to the 2013 AG GOTY Saige, who is interested in art.
We have a pool of clues to choose from. Each entrant should choose 3 clues and then take 3 pics.
Each of those pics should represent a clue.
You do have to submit three photos in order to be in the running for prizes.
You need to use three different clues.
And you need to tell us what clues you used.
A textual explanation is sorta required for each photo.
What the clue means to an artist or art historian may be different than what it means to you.
That's fine and good and the point. This is a thinking exercise.
We want creativity and excellence.
Your photos should include at least one doll and no humans.
Your photos should include at least one doll and no humans.

DEADLINE for all THREE PHOTOS is MARCH 6th, 2013.
Yes, we know that is far away. But that gives you more time to work on your photos.
Feel free to send your photos to us ahead of time.
We'll be posting them as we get them on a new DW Grand Photo Contest Website.
And just because someone else uses a clue doesn't mean you can't too.
All of the clues are for everyone to choose from.
This isn't a case of "calling dibs."
_______________
For this contest anybody can enter, you don't have to be a
blog follower or even be in the USA --
But if you are younger than 18 please get your
parent/guardian's permission to participate, and if you are younger than 13,
please get your parent/guardian's help with participation.
Email us the photos at nora.demington@gmail.com.
And include
some info about the three pictures.
We'll have a month of voting after we have posted all of the photos and then Penny will pick 4 winners from the top 50%.
Then those 4 winners will compete in a Final Round for the Grand Prize.

Things to Keep in
Mind:
The picture can be any size, but 400 pixels
wide or wider is recommended or else your pic will be very small on the blog
and difficult to see. Almost every pic we post here is 500 pixels wide, so
that is what you should be aiming for as well.
The best way send photos to us is as attachments.
This gives us a better quality photo to post on the blog.
We prefer photographs to videos. But if you absolutely need to do a video, we will take it.
Using Photoshop and other photo editing
programs is fine and recommended.
The photos must be taken by you. Don't steal other people's photos.
You can include more than one doll in your
photos. Your dolls do not have to be AG dolls.
No human faces in the photos please --
remember: privacy is important! Hands are okay -- but no actually identifiable
people.
If you are younger than 13 have your
parent/guardian email the photos to us (remember: internet safety is
important!).
We will be posting the photos at a new DW website - so make sure your photo is something that you don't mind if the
whole world sees it. (Again, this is why you and/or your family shouldn't be in
the photo.)
Readers will be asked to vote for their
favorite photos. They can vote for more than one photo. You can vote for yourself.
Voting will be done by
email -- to vote you just email me at nora.demington@gmail.com and say
something like "I vote for photos #8 and #15."
The Doll Wardrobe does not share or sell your
email to anyone. Only Penny sees your emails.
At the end of the contest we will email the
winners for her/his shipping address. (This is why it is important you have a
parent/guardian's permission to enter if you are under 18).

Again, choose three different ones for your three pictures.
If you don't know what the word means, welcome to Wikipedia. ;-)
Learning is a beautiful thing!!!
If you want to suggest a clue for you to use, feel free to ask us.
And again, from above: "What the clue means to an artist or art historian may be different than what it means to you. That's fine and good and the point. This is a thinking exercise."
__________
Any questions? You probably have some.
Feel free to ask them here as comments or via email to nora.demington@gmail.com
Again, ALL THREE PHOTOS are due March 6th, 2013.
Thanks for reading through all of this!

Do the three photos have to be related to each other?
If someone gets Saige, can she be included; as she is an artist?
-Paige
The three photos do not have to be related to each other. They can be if you want them to be though.
Yep, if someone gets Saige they can use her as the "artist" clue if they like. She can be in all three photos if they want -- but the photos still have to represent three different clues.
Can we use a photo editor?
Yes, you can use a photo editor.
AND we recommend that everyone use a photo editor.
Auto-fixing your exposure/levels, brightening your photos, and saturating colors are recommended. We do this on all of our photos.
You can also use a photo editor in different ways. Whatever you want to do. :-)
Yay! I've got a bunch of ideas now! =D
Thanks for releasing it early!
How do you enter? Do you just send it to you?
Yep, to enter you just send your 3 photos to us at nora.demington@gmail.com
You can send the photos one at a time if you like, as you complete them. Or all at once. :-)
I am confused on like what the clues are for. Like am I supposed to pick three of those words and you guess what each of the words are, or something else? I am really confused. Will you be guessing 3 things?
The clues are basically themes. You pick three themes from this list. We called them clues because it is like a Flickr scavenger hunt where people take photos that represent "clues."
But you can think of the clues as themes. Like "Celebration," "Winter Wonderland," "Being Charitable," etc. that we had before.
We don't guess what your clues are. You pick your 3 clues/themes. Make 3 pics. And then tell us what clues/themes you picked when you send them to us.
Let us know if you have more questions! :D
For the artist clue, could you do a photo in the style of a famous artist?
Thanks!
Yes Smith Girls -that will work! :)
Can you post an example picture?
-Paige
when can you see other peoples photos?
As we load them onto the site. http://dw2013grandphotocontest.blogspot.com/
As they send them in.
so I should just take three photos pick three clues and email them in to you.
Well I would pick the clues first, then take the photos to match those themes and then email them to us. :-) You can email them to us anytime before March 7th.
The next contest you do, could we not vote, because I never get voted for :(
Aw, everyone gets votes. We get a lot of votes by email too -- so just because you don't see published votes on the pics doesn't mean you didn't get votes.
p.s. Penny uses the votes to help her judge -- but it isn't what makes a winner a winner.
Top # of votes doesn't necessarily equal a winner.
When do we vote? I think voting is a great idea!
Voting will start after March 6th --- after we have managed to load up all the photos.
Voting for will be for about a month, maybe 3 weeks.
When can we post comments for the pics?
Whenever you want to. :-)
They are moderated though -- so we will read them first and then post them.
So posting isn't instantaneous.
This way we avoid spam comments on hair growth products. ;-)
How do you vote?
Whats the point of voting if the votes do not count?
I am confused, can you post an example of what someone's entry might look like? Your last contest like this I couldn't enter because I was confused.
These are the current entries Katie: http://dw2013grandphotocontest.blogspot.com/
I'd like to suggest the word "Adventure" to be added to the list.
Thanks!
Surebee -- Adventure is a good theme to add -- Feel free to use it. :-)
THIS IS SO COOL!
Unfortunately, I didn't hear about it until today, and tomorrow's the deadline,so I probably won't be able to enter. :(
Thus, I am writing to ask/beg/beseech you to please, please, PLEASE do this again!
I also have two words to suggest, though I know it's rather late: "wonder" and "serenity."
Again, this is awesome!
