Well obviously I kind of haven't done the Christmas prezzies post yet of the two dolls my sister and I received... sorry! We are still away, so it is difficult to motivate myself while on vacation. ;-) Also, I have spent too much time going onto AG Playthings and looking at the newest news and not blogging. Heehee.
American Girl has released new historical outfits and some new MyAG stuff as of this week. Kanani's collection has appeared in catalogs already. And AG will have 25th Birthday mini dolls in holiday outfits. Also there will be a 25th Birthday AG Cruise at Thanksgiving time in 2011. Don't know about you guys, but we kind of have to be at Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving....hhrrmmpphh. So we won't be going on that. Especially since we are going to Florida a couple weeks before that. Oh well. C'est la vie.
So if you want to see pics and know more info about the above schtuff, AG Playthings has the scoop as well as some of the blogs we list in the sidebar below. We don't have pics here for y'all. :-(
But we do have polls! We actually like Kanani and most of her collection-- despite the obvious appearances of pink here and there. But we want to know what you guys think.... so we have two polls in the sidebar. The first is for your fav Kanani item and the second is for your Kanani dolly plans. Feel free to vote! We'd love to know what you guys think. And feel free to comment as well!
We personally plan on getting her entire collection before 2011 is up. But that Shave Ice Stand really can't stay pink like that... it will have to undergo some modificiations. And we are even thinking of getting an extra Kanani doll to customize, maybe with different color eyes and a different wig... but that will come later...
But on the immediate buy list is that doggy! Yay, he is awesome! He looks just like our old doggy who passed away in 2006. :'-( It will be cool to have an AG version of him.
So what do you guys think? Is Kanani a win or a meh? Are you planning on getting anything from her collection?

I must say that Kanani really doesn't do it for me. She's too perfect, in my opinion. Nothing in her collection appeals much to me. However I do like the idea of releasing a mini doll each month--that really sounds cool!
Oh and just so I don't confuse people-- they will be the historical mini dolls in their holiday/winter gear. And maybe that will include a new historical doll or two for 2011. *Fingers crossed.
A mini doll a month is a pretty exciting idea. Let's see if Penny can remember to buy one every month...
I like Kanani's hair but she'd be prettier if her eyes were brown!
Yeah, it seems like her eyes are brown in the book illustrations. It is very weird they didn't make the doll's eyes brown. That would look very pretty.
We really like the dog, too.
Kanani is cute, but not cute enough to get a spot on the must-buy list. (I'm also pretty disappointed in the lack of a dark-skinned GOTY thus far.) Some of her stuff is pretty cute; time and money will tell if any of it comes this way.
Barksee is awesome. We are excited to get him.
It is disconcerting that the GOTY is again not dark-skinned. Last year we bought Angelina after Lanie wasn't dark-skinned. So we are going to get another dark-skinned doll this year-- most likely Addy as she is next on the wish list. ;)
We're decidedly meh about her. She won't be coming here. I don't like that her hair and eyes aren't darker, but maybe that's just me.

Yeah, the medium-skinned Jess mold would look very pretty with darker eyes and hair. We are thinking about doing a customized Kanani like that later in the year (obviously with a different name). Maybe others will customize her like that as well...
Oh and we decided to order the shave ice stand this morning as well... so we will have some pics of that when it arrives. And we will tiki-fy it too. Gotta hide some of that pink. ;)
This is super neat!! I, Rachel Noel, would really like to go on that A.G. Cruise, but my chances are very slim:P We're going to the A.G. Place in New york in May, also getting Kanani & MYAG #43, Keegan, who will be twins;) Always fun! So, obviously, she's a total win! I'm probably going to buy in with her Starter Collection, along with lots of other things on my "to-get" list. Totally, off subject, but one of the things on my "to-get" list is the Maiden In Flight Hobo Purse, which I was thrilled to see that you guys got the 3rd of 4th one! I managed to reserve the last one!(Yes, I'm totally thrilled!) Anyway! Very excited! Must get lots of things done before then though!
