(Way Late) April Trends to Sew!

Yep, we're behind on our Trends to Sew.
Which we said we wouldn't do.
Sigh.

But we'll try and do an April and a May before May is over....

And we'll try to make them a little bit shorter just to be able to produce them faster....

So we'll limit ourselves to 10 ideas here, and put others on our "Trends to Sew" Pinterest board.

What is "Trends to Sew"?
Well we try to help those of you who have the "Sewing Block."
Like writer's block - you want to create something, but you aren't sure of a design or idea.

So Maple makes dictatorial suggestions
for what you should be sewing and creating!

Today we look at.....

Their floral, flirty clothing makes us think of summer and beach parties.
What else do you need?

Well they also do unique designs, and use lots of fun, bold fabrics.

Check out some of the items we have screen-grabbed from their site!

Idea #1 Dark floral patterned shorts.
Love the dark teal fabric they used for this pair.
People talk a lot about floral pants and capris right now.
What about shorts too?

Idea #2 Tie-dyed-esque tank top with ruffled accents at seams and contrasting fabrics ♥

Idea #3 Structured tunic top that combines the look of a jacket and a dress ♥

Idea #4 Bold-colored tank top underneath a sheer flowy floral tunic.
Note how the waist ties add structure. ♥

Idea #5 Ruffled all-over floral dress - Great over jeggings/leggings.
Note the angled tiers of ruffles and the tiny ruffles on the bodice. ♥

Idea #6 Fun, cropped, wide neck tee with a bold graphic layered over a solid color tank top. Note the subtle princess seaming so that the top doesn't balloon out.
And yes, that is a cow with a Union Jack on its nose. ♥

Idea #7 Crocheted or lace drapey-front vest.
This would be great for experiments with texture and color. ♥

Idea #8 Awesomely wild asymmetrical military-style coat in bold swaths of fabric - a quilt, a dress and a coat combined! ♥

Idea #9 Steampunky/Victorian-esque skirt with stripes, under-layer of ruffled gauze and accented pockets! ♥

Idea #10 Well-fitted, structured blazer with 3/4 length sleeves and an empire-waist flare at the hips to accomodate ruffled tunics and dresses. Note the little stitched red X's as accents on the seams. Super-cute! ♥
