Caroline's Blue Birthday Dress

Hola! Sorry for the delay.
PicMonkey was being very slow for us today.

Today we show you Caroline's blue birthday dress and shoes. Lottie is also wearing the pantalettes that came with her meet outfit. The only thing that comes with the birthday dress is the shoes -- no ribbons or anything else, fyi.

The blue dress is made out of an interesting thin fabric that resembles linen or muslin. It looks semi-crinkly even if you iron it. Not really sure what they were going for exactly.

And we have never seen any fabric like it before. So we can't really explain to you what it is, haha. Definitely a synthetic, but it doesn't look nor feel like parachute fabric like some of the other AG offerings. So AG gets a cookie for setting aside the parachute fabric for something else.

But the fabric is thin, and you can kind of see through it unfortunately. We didn't notice this until we were processing the pics. But Lottie would have benefitted from a full slip, as you can tell where her pantaloons start on her waist through the dress. Sigh.

The fabric has a printed design on it. If you thought that was embroidered you must have been in LaLa Land, haha. It is screen-printed, but it looks very nice. So we are quite happy with it. The drop-front with the faux gathered fichu built in is also very attractive and we actually kept Lottie in this dress because she looks so pretty in it. The overall structure of the dress is very flattering.

The shoes are pretty nice. We like how they are two-tone with a different, layered design structure to them -- not just another pair of flats. But yet, it is just blue on blue so they can definitely go with other things, and even be worn as a modern shoe. Whoever designs their shoes at AG always does such a nice job. They should get a cookie. (Also, these shoes do have a bit of a heel to them, fyi.)

Also, whoever designed Caroline's Collection deserves a gold star. We honestly want the whole collection. Which is something that hasn't happened since....well..... since a long time ago.

While we like bits and pieces of Kit's, Julie's, Rebecca's, Cecile's, and Marie-Grace's collections -- we don't want all of their stuff. So that is three historical collections in a row that we have been kind of disappointed by. I am glad AG has proven to (at least) me that they can still design something worth buying.

p.s. We smoothed Lottie's hair into larger curls and then pushed them down and backward for this photo shoot. The headband was custom-made for us by Vintique Designs, fyi.

Thanks for visiting us today!

Could you post a side picture of her birthday shoes? Could you also post a picture of her curls?

They're pantalettes- not pantaloons! Pantaloons are trousers. :)
