Meet Caroline/Eliot/Lottie!

Yay! And WEEEEEEEEE!
Our new Caroline doll and her stuff finally arrived!

We had to wait a whole excruciating week for it to come here.
Sigh.

When we got the package it was nighttime and the light was poo-ish.
So we waited until this morning to take pictures of her with her hair down.

Last night.... Caroline still in her box.

Caroline out of her box...

And this morning....

Our Caroline has a bit of a tilt to her head, which is endearing and not actually annoying (yet).
So we prefer to put some of her curls over one shoulder to sort of balance that out.

Her eyebrows are a nice lighter color to match her hair, which we like....

We spent a good deal of the night managing those curls. So yeah, that's the best we can do.
It's very humid here -- thanks, hurricane. But taming the curls was kind of therapeutic after a long day....

Honestly, we wouldn't recommend her for people who have problems managing curls/if curls drive you crazy. If you like her, but not the hair, you can always straighten it or re-wig her though.

Her dress is pink. Yeah. And it basically looks like Felicity's summer gown in different colors.
It is kind of blah. But we really like the rest of Caroline's clothing collection -- so we'll forgive them this mistake. :-P

So that dress will come off soon and be replaced. But we know every costume change will require taming her hair... so we aren't really eager to do that before we get this first review up.

Her hair is beautiful. A slightly lighter blonde than Lanie. It is very long, as you can see.

Her eyes are a great color and luckily the Caroline we got has pretty good eyes -- nothing too wonky about them.

Her lip color isn't even, but we usually fix that with a fuchsia eyeliner pencil and a Q-tip, haha.

The outfit comes with the pantaloons, the stockings (which go up to her mid-calf), and the pink slipper shoes. We love the style of the shoes, just wish they weren't pink... Also, we aren't quite sure how historically accurate or practical pink shoes are..... but, whatevs, whatevs.

As far as other comments -- Her legs are super, super tight. Tightest legs we've ever encountered. Not sure why.

Does anyone have any questions about her?

We can try to do comparison shots, but we must admit that we have a lot of dolls here and sometimes it is difficult to find them in the doll room as most of the time we keep them in their boxes, haha. So we can't guarantee we can do the comparison shots. For instance, we've been looking for Stella for awhile. She is in hiding. Lil fiend. ;-)

But feel free to make comparison requests and ask questions.
We'll do our best to respond to all of them.

p.s. Our Caroline has been renamed Eliot, and we will call her Lottie.
She is a cousin to Lira and Ginny -- so she is a Sartorius as well.

As far as blog post labels (see bottom right side menu, she'll be listed as
both Caroline Abbott and Lottie Sartorius.)

Also, she will be a time-traveller -- wearing both modern and historical clothing here on the blog.

Thanks for visiting us today!!!

She's beautiful! :) I'm definitely tempted to add her to the family over here...eventually. ;)

At first, I wasn't so sure about Caroline, but she has definitely grown on me! Her eye color is so stunning and that alone is almost enough to make me buy her. Though her curls have me a bit concerned. Rebecca is the only curly-haired girl we have, but it's manageable because it's so much shorter. We're headed to AGP Chicago in two weeks, so I'd love to see what you think about Caroline's/Lottie's hair once you've had her for a little while!

I love her. She is so pretty. I would be happy to take her offending pink outfit and shoes. Really....I could make you similar dress to swap!

I can't wait to see your post on the other things you got from the Caroline collection!

About the shoes:
So I was looking on the Regency Encyclopedia (reg-ency.com) and found this:

"The color of spencer, pelisse or hat or the trimmings of the dress was often repeated in the shoes, though less after 1825, and shoes in neutral shades and of printed kid were also worn." (Buck, Anne M.   -   Contrib to The Regency Era 1810-1830 The Connoisseur Period Guide (1958))

Several other books in the category say pretty much the same thing (see Search Category>Shoes), especially for children. So maybe AG was trying to be historically accurate, but I doubt it. They look nothing like the shoes someone would wear during that time period. Granted, there are some limitations to the durability of such things, but...

Yeah. Sorry for the long comment.

Thanks for sharing your photos - they're the best I've seen yet, and may cause me to re-think my decision not to get her! You pics are beautiful! Congrats on Lottie!

I am THRILLED about Caroline, because I *LOVE* the name Caroline......
I saw her stuff, and started saving, but I told my sis, that I was going to wait to hear what DW said about her stuff.
